He gets ready for bed, comes down in his pants and says goodnight. I say ok, love you, goodnight, I'll be up soon etc.. we exchange a kiss and off he goes. I then settle down to watch the news or finish whatever I was doing, usually with a nice glass of wine quite enjoying 5 mins to myself!! He then returns and just stands there, in front of the TV in his pants. I have no idea why but it drives me crazy!!! I just think, 'well go then!!!' - we've said goodnight, had a kiss etc... So why doesn't he go!!! But he just stands there. Eventually he'll go upstairs but then he comes down about a minute later, again just standing around in his pants. I know he's not doing anything wrong but it drives me nuts!!! Surely he should either be up or down!! - if he wanted to stay and watch TV, couldnt he just come and sit down? Why just stand there, back to me, staring at the TV which he's not even watching! He's just hovering ...grrrr!!! It's just sooooo irritating and I can't relax!!!!

I know I am being VERY unreasonable and irrational!! But this is my absolute pet hate!! :) And it's EVERY night recently!!!

If I reappeared in just my underwear I'd be making some attempt at seduction. Is it his awkward way to say, look, I'm half naked, ravage me?

DickZillaofTheVilla · 02/07/2019 22:17

Very odd is he hinting for you to come up and have sex?

Linzbe · 02/07/2019 22:17

A simple "What are you doing?" Would answer your question....😏

MrsElizabethShelby · 02/07/2019 22:18

He wants you to follow him to bed OP.....

AutumnCrow · 02/07/2019 22:18

'why are you standing there in your pants?'

Say it out loud. To him.

mazv1953 · 02/07/2019 22:20

Tell him it's driving you nuts?

Anoying22 · 02/07/2019 22:21

Is it his awkward way to say, look, I'm half naked, ravage me?

GrinGrin maybe!!! But it's absolutely not the best method!!! and it definitely is not a turn on!!!!

That would drive me barmy too. What is his purpose? Is he blocking you being able to see the TV? Is he trying to piss you off? Once I go up, that’s it, wash and into bed. Sounds very odd.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 02/07/2019 22:23

I'd ask him "are those pants see through?"

He'd look and say "No!"

I'd reply, "No and neither are you so get the fuck out of my way!"

What a weird thing for him to do!

Iggly · 02/07/2019 22:24

Ask him????

Anoying22 · 02/07/2019 22:24

Tell him it's driving you nuts?

Aww..I know I should! But firstly, he's not really doing anything wrong!! and secondly, he is the best DH ever and I'd hate to hurt his feelings :) ...so continue to seethe I will!!

Do you not say

"I thought you'd gone up to bed? What are you doing back down - you're hovering and it's annoying. Either sit down or go to bed."

If not, why not?

marvellousnightforamooncup · 02/07/2019 22:25

He wants you to go to bed too.

ReganSomerset · 02/07/2019 22:25

Have you never asked what he's doing?

Anoying22 · 02/07/2019 22:26

*I'd ask him "are those pants see through?"

He'd look and say "No!"

I'd reply, "No and neither are you so get the fuck out of my way!"*

This is your absolute pet hate. It is driving you crazy enough to come on MN to vent.

Talk to him.

MamaWeasel · 02/07/2019 22:27

How bloody irritating! When he reappears, just ask, "did you forget something?"

Whathappenedtooursummer · 02/07/2019 22:28

Could be worse. He could do the helicopter thing...

LuluBellaBlue · 02/07/2019 22:28

Can you please ask him and update us all OP? Grin

Malvinaa81 · 02/07/2019 22:28

I'm afraid this is weird.

And I can't help wonder why you don't ask him what he's doing and what he wants to achieve by doing it!

It doesn't sound as if he looks good in his pants.

TeaForTheWin · 02/07/2019 22:32

Is the tv too loud? My assumption would be that he expects you to go to bed too so that you don't either keep him up with the tv or wake him up when you go to bed later. If you are genuinely just like 10 minutes behind him then I would tell him to go to bed and you'll be up in a bit but if you are actually staying up later than that then yeah...id ask him if that is why he is hovering.

Morgan12 · 02/07/2019 22:37

Does he just stand there and do nothing? Does he talk?

I need to know why he does this! Please ask him and tell us!

harper30 · 02/07/2019 22:38

This is weird, what do you do when he's standing in front of the telly, just ignore him?? That's mental why the hell haven't you asked him what he's doing? Does he do it every night???
You MUST ask him and then tell us what he says

Riceandthings · 02/07/2019 22:40

Is he fit?

Asking for a friend.

CodenameVillanelle · 02/07/2019 22:40

Its a really annoying passive aggressive message that he wants you to come up to bed with him, but instead of asking you to (because that would be unreasonable) he hovers and looms until you come up to get him to stop. It's very annoying.
