My DH does this really annoying thing ...

He gets ready for bed, comes down in his pants and says goodnight. I say ok, love you, goodnight, I'll be up soon etc.. we exchange a kiss and off he goes. I then settle down to watch the news or finish whatever I was doing, usually with a nice glass of wine quite enjoying 5 mins to myself!! He then returns and just stands there, in front of the TV in his pants. I have no idea why but it drives me crazy!!! I just think, 'well go then!!!' - we've said goodnight, had a kiss etc... So why doesn't he go!!! But he just stands there. Eventually he'll go upstairs but then he comes down about a minute later, again just standing around in his pants. I know he's not doing anything wrong but it drives me nuts!!! Surely he should either be up or down!! - if he wanted to stay and watch TV, couldnt he just come and sit down? Why just stand there, back to me, staring at the TV which he's not even watching! He's just hovering ...grrrr!!! It's just sooooo irritating and I can't relax!!!!

I know I am being VERY unreasonable and irrational!! But this is my absolute pet hate!! :) And it's EVERY night recently!!!

My DH, when he's walking through from the computer room to the hall, has to go through the living room where I'm usually plonked in the sofa watching telly. He often stops and just stands there, like he's drawn in by the programme, but it's really annoying! I say, if you're watching it sit down and if not go away!
But at least he's wearing more than pants! Grin

WatcherOfTheNight · 02/07/2019 22:43

Could be worse. He could do the helicopter thing... GrinGrinGrin

Thegirlintheflowerypyjamas · 02/07/2019 22:46

aww, he sounds sweet. Also, btw, I'm like your husband. Sth about going to bed alone makes me come back kind of in search of my mate. It's not thought out, it's more instinctive

ThinThighsPlease · 02/07/2019 22:49

"Darling you make a great husband but a shit window. I love you but fuck off to bed!"

happyhillock · 02/07/2019 22:49

Awh how sweet he wants you to go to bed to

RedDogsBeg · 02/07/2019 22:50

Odd, but just ask him why he does it OP!

Allhailthesun · 02/07/2019 22:52

Christ I hate this. My other half stands round in pants too. I tell him often enough that his top half - lovely arms broad shoulders great face is very sexy. Skinny legs and try hard underwear .,,er ...not do much....

VivienneHolt · 02/07/2019 22:53

YANBU, My husband does something similar where he comes and hovers in my dressing room in the morning when I am doing my makeup. He doesn’t necessarily have anything to say, he’s just there. I don’t know why but it annoys me too!

Stormy76 · 02/07/2019 22:53

I often catch mine gawping at the tv .....for some reason he seems to thinks it’s ok to stand in front of the tv ....clearly fascinated by the news/weather....until I tell him to move. He is fully clothed at the time tho.

joystir59 · 02/07/2019 22:54

Go to bed with him ! We always go to bed at the same time to reconnect at the end of a long day apart. It's lovely. Sometimes we lie in bed like broccoli, sometimes we both read, sometimes we talk, there is always a kiss and cuddle. Try it OP.

Seeingadistance · 02/07/2019 22:58

"like broccoli"?!

butteryellow · 02/07/2019 22:58

Does he just get captured?

I'll sometimes have my headphones on somewhere, doing something while watching TV on the ipad, and I'll turn round to discover DP watching with me - something he has no interest in, and can't hear the audio, but the moving images just seem to capture him and he can't move away!

We can't have TV on in the mornings, or he keeps losing track and not getting ready to go out.

Yes, he's a grown man, yes, this is ridiculous, yes, I just have to work around it.. but no, I am not informing him what the plot line is, 3 seasons in to a TV program he's never watched, and can't currently hear the dialog of.

Fairenuff · 02/07/2019 22:58

I think you're the weird one for not talking to your own husband.

ChocolateTeardrops · 02/07/2019 23:02

Sometimes we lie in bed like broccoli

Please explain! Grin

TheVanguardSix · 02/07/2019 23:02

What is this lying in bed like broccoli you speak of?

Reith · 02/07/2019 23:03

Could be worse. He could do the helicopter thing...

Or t-rexing.

fotheringhay · 02/07/2019 23:05

Am in hysterics about the broccoli thing!

Ellie56 · 02/07/2019 23:05

lie in bed like broccoli? Hmm

I now have a vivid image of the two broccolli crowns I bought at the supermarket earlier today, snuggled up in bed together under the duvet. Grin Grin

RightOnTheEdge · 02/07/2019 23:05

I'd ask him "are those pants see through?"

He'd look and say "No!"

I'd reply, "No and neither are you so get the fuck out of my way!"

Brilliant! Grin Grin Grin

Anoying22 · 02/07/2019 23:05

I am so confused about broccoli, t-rexting and helicopters! (am I just old?)

My DH stands in the doorway of the living room when I am watching tv. or sometimes just outside of the doorway, in the hall. Weird.

avalanching · 02/07/2019 23:08

Is he hinting for you to go up? A) sex B) because it's annoying someone going to bed after you and waking you up.

itbemay1 · 02/07/2019 23:10

The broccoli thing is from pretty woman?

LadyBumclock · 02/07/2019 23:10

I think he's got FOMO and feels sad lying in bed on his own when you're still downstairs enjoying the telly. He doesn't want to do that, but he doesn't want to be alone either so he hangs around in a half-arsed way.

It would drive me mad too!

My ex used to hate going to bed even if he was tired because it was "boring" Hmm

Reith · 02/07/2019 23:10

I reckon he’s just missing you.
