It's an 11 year old (born male) ice skater. There's a little video where to me she looks female.

I daren't put this on the feminism board, but AIBU to think that in 20 years time we will look back in shame at how we have treated transgendered individuals?

I just put myself in those shoes for 5 hours. What on earth would I think? How much hate would I feel? How fucked up/strange/weird would I feel?

I have a very uneasy feeling in my soul about the vociferous opposition to transgenderism on MN currently. It doesn't sit comfortably with me.

I came across this story just now and it's typical of I suppose what the feminist MNers want transgender people to face. I.e. that they can't...

Should she compete as a girl? Or AIBU?

So you would rather deny the little boy?

The little boy plays on the little boys’ team.

FYI, nifty bit of misgendering there Hmm

Cassort · 02/07/2019 20:52

Oliver. In a fucking ideal world, if there weren't rich kids getting grinds, sporty kids with good genes, healthy kids sailing through life, ye, sure, I'd be in a different place. I'd be King of the World. Or Queen.

One place I would NOT like to be is being born thinking I belonged in a different body.
Why the venom for one little boy competing with the girls...........? Grow up. The lot of ye.

Aaaaaargh

smeerf · 02/07/2019 20:53

Misgendering, ACTUAL transphobic slurs (tr*nny) - ironically all coming from the OP! I smell a deletion...

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 02/07/2019 20:53

Transphobic slur reported.

colourlessgreenidea · 02/07/2019 20:53

It’s pretty obvious now that, with the slurs they’re throwing around, the OP is trying get the thread deleted as they’ve made an arse of themselves and are completely out of their depth.

Cassort · 02/07/2019 20:54

And just to clarify - I started this thread about this child in particular. Not as a trans debate as I completely avoid them. There's no arguing with stupid.

OP posts:
GPatz · 02/07/2019 20:54

I think OP is trying to get this thread deleted out of embarrassment.

JacquesHammer · 02/07/2019 20:54

There's no arguing with stupid

You’re a shining example of that OP.

Oliversmumsarmy · 02/07/2019 20:55

Just because you feel like something doesn’t mean you are

Friends little girl is convinced she is a dinosaur. Doesn’t speak as that is for humans she communicates by roaring.

Do we rewrite the history books and say that a dinosaur is alive and living in Bristol

colourlessgreenidea · 02/07/2019 20:55

There's no arguing with stupid

Yes, we’re learning that the hard way.

Eaudear · 02/07/2019 20:55

Can we not delete this thread please MNHQ? Threads like this always have all the sensible arguments in one place.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 02/07/2019 20:56

cass
You do realise that Maria ultimately was allowed to compete and will be able to in future, yes?
Main problem arose because one of the dads went into the changing rooms while two of the other girls were getting changed and stared at their mums with his arms folded Confused
So powers that be then insisted that a female chaperone was required which did not sit well with two gay dads.

GPatz · 02/07/2019 20:56

Yes, the thread is informative. Just delete the OP's transphobic comments.

Michelleoftheresistance · 02/07/2019 20:57

So you want to use the 'homophobia is an awful thing that's now out dated' point, but not to hear 'and homophobia is back, and an active part of the agenda you're arguing for, that puts the needs of male born people over female people'?

It's all part and parcel of the same thing. Females should not be asked to hand over their rights and equalities to try and compensate for the distress of someone who is trans.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 02/07/2019 20:57

Go to bed OP.

Eaudear · 02/07/2019 20:57

I feel like a world class tennis player inside. I want to play with the top flight at Wimbledon. Are you going to deny me that right? The fact I'm not a very good tennis player is neither here nor there, its how I feel that counts.

DeRigueurMortis · 02/07/2019 20:59

Whatever your original intention here OP you are doing yourself and the "trannys" - to be clear your word not mine hence the quotation marks as it's a derogatory term I have no truck with - no favours here.

One child yes - but a very big subject that has implications for millions of women.

You choose not to see that and use slur words to describe the people you purport to support.

I can only suggest you do your homework and instead of throwing around insulting terms get a grasp of the issues at hand (and potentially sober up).

SpitefulBreasts · 02/07/2019 21:00

@Cassort BUT!!! If I did feel somehow 'wrong' as a male, I would LIKE to think that in 2019 (not the 1900s), that accommodation could be made for facilitate that anomaly
Just given your game away, I hope you got enough transphobic screenshots.
Mind you if you think that saying that humans can't change sex is transphobic and stating that biological men shouldn't be allowed to compete against women is transphobic too. I'd check your definition of transphobic.
As Yoda might say, barking up the wrong tree is strong with this one.

Fibbke · 02/07/2019 21:01

Oh dont delete it. Its pretty obvious what the op is doing

GassyAss · 02/07/2019 21:01

All for the name of women's sports. I bet 60% of you wouldn't run for a bus, let alone participate or compete in sports.

How fucking dare you stand beside a small minority of transgender males wanting to enter women’s sport and tell the entire female sporting population to just stand aside and let them. How dare you.
Women have had to fight for the opportunity to play sport. Women weren’t allowed to play football until 1971. 1971!! And you want us to just stand aside and let it be co-opted by the opposite sex? No.
All the research says women and girls are massively underrepresented in sport. What do you think the barriers are to them competing?
Do you think that adding another one is fair? Justified? Is it fuck. Try centring women in this debate rather than throwing us under the bus.

BitOfFun · 02/07/2019 21:02

@Cassort, it's interesting that you describe women on this thread as "hysterical". That's quite sexist in itself.

Could you point to just ONE poster here who has been as rude and obstreperous as you? Because all I'm seeing is reasoned debate, with many many examples to explain the issue. None of which you have engaged with, btw. You have just sworn and shouted and contradicted yourself. You don't seem quite right, to be honest.

OdeToDiazepam · 02/07/2019 21:03

Yabu, a dress and some make up does not a girl make

Tessabelle74 · 02/07/2019 21:03

As an example, weight lifting. As an adult, a male is physically able to lift significantly more than females. Identifying as female doesn't change biology so it would be totally unfair to be competing against females. There should be transgender categories to make sure things are fair

MrsMiggins37 · 02/07/2019 21:03

My niece plays rugby. She played with boys for years and then when she got to 12 or so she ended up physically injured and hospitalised a couple of times as they had just become too big and strong for her. But by your logic OP if a male bodied rugby player decided they were female she’d just have to suck up the risk of physical injury. Is that right?
