Following on from this -it was just getting interesting. Someone posted about how Meghan called herself a feminist but hadn’t earned the title. I was interested to know how you earned the title- but the thread ended.

“Anymore desperately unfunny and inappropriate 'comedy' clips?”

If you think it was inappropriate you either haven’t watched it to the end or don’t understand satire.

Well, your boundaries must be different to mine Mauritius

I’m looking at that photo I know I would have hated to be M at that moment. Total invasion of personal space. And I don’t think it is at all the same as cameras all over the court, or people discreetly taking a snap on their phones for a distance.

DidItAgainOops · 09/07/2019 11:56

Oh come off it, do you really believe that the man, having chosen a prime spot right in front of Meghan, only took a selfie and was oblivious to who was centimetres away from him?

Okaaay

GlitchStitch · 09/07/2019 11:57

He wasn't snapping her, he was taking a selfie of himself at Wimbledon, and the other person who has spoken out was taking pics of Serena and hadn't even noticed Meghan was there. They were the ones who were intruded upon whilst going about their private business, not the other way round.

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2019 11:58

Ah-he was taking a selfie. Presumably once he explained that to the security guy he was released from the Tower?

It is honestly quite usual to be asked not to take pictures. I don’t understand why people are finding this so surprising.

GlitchStitch · 09/07/2019 11:58

You can see the picture he was taking on his phone, himself with the court in the background. Meghan wasn't in the shot Confused

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/07/2019 11:58

You can see the selfie on his phone, DidIT

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/07/2019 11:59

But of course it does look as if he’s taking a photo of her and no wonder she’s not happy.

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2019 12:00

“and the other person who has spoken out was taking pics of Serena and hadn't even noticed Meghan was there”
A bit attention seeking going to the Press about it, isn’t it?

OP posts:
GlitchStitch · 09/07/2019 12:01

Ah so now the plebs are attention seeking if they dare report how they feel they were treated. Bit strange for a staunch republican OP.

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2019 12:07

Sorry- that was supposed to have a grin after it. I just thought that it was quite funny that Meghan was accused of attention seeking for asking for no pictures, but it was perfectly fine for the woman asked not to take pictures (who works in PR I think) to give an interview to the Express about it!

GlitchStitch · 09/07/2019 12:12

She was probably pissed off that the police got involved in her business when she was enjoying a day out. Attention seeking or not, it's the age of rolling news and social media. This sort of stuff isn't going to stay hidden. That's why I think their PR sucks.

LillithsFamiliar · 09/07/2019 12:49

It's odd that they felt they needed lots of empty rows for security. It's an unusual approach for royals at the tennis, or any other sporting events. It's just another sign of how poorly they're managing both PR and security.
Hopefully they will opt to accept one of the overseas postings being suggested. It will give them time to be a family, adjust to their roles and put a better team in place around them.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 09/07/2019 13:29

Do the royals pay for their tickets (just wondering) or queue up overnight to get a spot?

Niceproblemtohave · 09/07/2019 13:52

I was at Wimbledon last Thursday on Court 1 and noticed Meghan as was suddenly aware of a large section of seating that was empty apart from 6 people sat together. It was very conspicuous as for most of the day the stadium was almost full and I couldn't understand why a huge block was suddenly so empty. I counted 60 empty seats which were apparently in the members area!!

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2019 13:55

Don’t they normally just go in the royal box?

OP posts:
Niceproblemtohave · 09/07/2019 14:00

It was Court 1 so there wasn't a royal box

Of course-forgot that.

Kate was watching Court 14 the other day and was just sat in the stands with no empty seats around her so it must be doable from a security point of view.

LillithsFamiliar · 09/07/2019 14:07

They don't always go in the royal box. They sometimes sit in the VIP section (where Meghan was) and occasionally court-side. Kate hasn't sat in the royal box for all her visits this year.
The fact is that clearing rows made Meghan more conspicuous and that characterises all their public dealings imo. There's this constant push and pull between we're not telling you stuff but we're telling you that we're not telling you it; and we don't want the public to bother us but we'll be as conspicuous as possible.
All new members of the royal family get a hard time from the press but I do think H&M are being very badly advised by the team around them.

IABUQueen · 09/07/2019 14:10

I think the clip was appropriately describing the behaviour of many here who are obsessively finding faults with Meghan and are yet to admit to themselves that the reason behind such obsessive scrutiny is... errr... that she is “different”.

Undercoverdetective · 09/07/2019 14:19

It must be very annoying for serious tennis fans to see sixty ( or however many it was) seats wasted by anybody. I thought people queued up to get into Wimbledon.
