Following on from this -it was just getting interesting. Someone posted about how Meghan called herself a feminist but hadn’t earned the title. I was interested to know how you earned the title- but the thread ended.

No amount of money could replace the pain Harry must have felt being told not only that his mother died but in an horrific way.

One comfort when a loved one dies is that they were not in pain. Can't say that.

The endless scandal, theft, inquest, conspiracies around her death have been abominable... Awful.

Burpsandrustles · 09/07/2019 10:23

Le March I agree.

Maybe it's just journo fodder? As in she's a journo and we are journo fodder Confused

findingmyfeet12 · 09/07/2019 10:34

Why are people assuming that K and other royals don't ask private individuals not to photograph them at Wimbledon etc too?

findingmyfeet12 · 09/07/2019 10:35

This really is coming across as a witch hunt / bullying.

The whole thing is very ugly and really shows that the gutter press has a stranglehold on much of the British public.

It's not really a witch hunt if they keep giving people ammunition. It's rubbish PR and being tone deaf. A week after criticism of the costs of their renovations, they get flak for announcing a private christening and then secret godparents. So in response to claims they are hypocritically demanding private lives when it suits you don't then attend a massive televised sporting event and demand more privacy.

GlitchStitch · 09/07/2019 10:43

And if she really was attending in a completely private capacity why didn't she queue with the rest of the VIPs and adhere to the dress code? Could it be because shes...royalty? And happy to make the most of the perks it seems.

findingmyfeet12 · 09/07/2019 10:44

They've only asked for privacy around the baby! Aside from that they're seen as much as other high profile royals.

The whole christening thing has really put people's noses out of joint.

I agree with you. They should have let the plebs press their noses up against the window. It would have saved them a lot of bother.

findingmyfeet12 · 09/07/2019 10:47

At least she's only got one hanger on - her mum who occasionally turns up. She's had the good sense to cut off the rest.

It could have been worse. We could have been subjected to a whole family of underachieving siblings staring out at us from the papers like the Middletons.

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2019 10:48

Presumably because it would have been a security nightmare? And [grin]@dress code!

There was no need for an announcement at all about the christening beyond it will be this date and we will release pictures afterwards, same with the birth- Meghan gave birth at x time, both doing well, pics to follow soon. It's the constant announcements that there won't be announcements that are bad PR.

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2019 10:50

Oh, I just thought a bit of satire about “colour blindness” fitted in to the thread quite well.....

GlitchStitch · 09/07/2019 10:51

Yes, denim not allowed in the members section where she was sat. But I guess as a PUBLIC figure they didn't apply the same rules they do for PRIVATE citizens.

findingmyfeet12 · 09/07/2019 10:51

You could just ignore the announcements?

GlitchStitch · 09/07/2019 10:53

I guess everybody could ignore the announcements and they could have all the privacy they want, permanently. Something tells me that wouldn't suit though. They rely on public interest and support for their position.

findingmyfeet12 · 09/07/2019 10:53

I'm off this thread now - I'm sure you have no interest in what I'm about to say but as someone who hates the institution of monarchy, a fair few of you are just coming across as bitchy, jealous and nasty.

Dowser · 09/07/2019 11:00

My only interest in the royals is how much it costs the country.
If we have to have a royal family at all..then it’s queen, Charles, William and George.

That’s it.

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2019 11:03

I don’t think there is a no denim rule anywhere at Wimbledon except possibly the Royal Box.

This OK? What with her spending all that money on her house and only producing 5 pictures of the baby an’ all?

Seems a bit strange that a Serena Williams game is so unpopular and there are so many empty seats.

Maybe that’s why Meghan chose it?

It’s not on for people to take close ups of her and her friends, I agree with that.

A photo of the court with her in the background ought to be OK though.

GlitchStitch · 09/07/2019 11:23

Fine to ask people to step back a bit. Not ok to go round tapping people on the shoulders and tell them not to take pics at a public televised event.

DidItAgainOops · 09/07/2019 11:34

That photo appears to show a man practically shoving a camera in M’s face. I don’t blame her for a moment if she went into full protection mode after that.

Well it appears the man wasn't taking a picture of Meghan at all. He was two rows in front of her and stood up to get a selfie of himself with the court in the background. You can see it on his phone.
