DH made a woman cry - wtf

Cars park on our street and it's a free for all. We noticed a car parked behind ours with a flat tyre on friday. DH has been going on about it. Today as we were going to our car he saw a woman walking to it and said "oh is this yours? Thought it was abandoned." She looked startled and said no ... why. He said because it had a flat tyre and she said something like oh, it'll be ok. Dh repeated it'll be ok and laughed loudly. She looked uncomfortable, then started crying, got in it and drove off.

What an odd thread.

winniestone37 · 01/07/2019 17:56

He laughed at her? He's a wally.

Cockadoodledooo · 01/07/2019 17:56

If your question was AIBU to think my husband is a colossal cock? Then you'd be getting a very definite hell no from me.
AIBU to think he should have asked if she might need assistance with changing the tyre? Also no.

As is, I've read it and re-read it and can't see a way in which your dh comes out looking good.

thistimeofyear · 01/07/2019 17:57

Your Dh sounds really horrible. And so do you with your WTF comment at the end. If the woman lives alone, is skint, is lacking in confidence generally etc - can you not sympathise or empathise with her at all? You both deserve each other clearly

Whatsforu · 01/07/2019 17:58

I would of hoped your dh could have offered help. It did sound like he ridiculed her. She may have been dealing with bad news of her own.

Branleuse · 01/07/2019 18:06

poor woman, sounds like the last thing she needed was some random man mocking her and laughing at her as well as having a flat tyre.

Whats that saying - You never know what someones story is, so try not to be a cunt.

Euphonium · 01/07/2019 18:08

He sounds a complete boar.

TigerTooth · 01/07/2019 18:10

Are we voting on ‘is your husband is an interfering unhelpful twat?’
Yep - he’s got my vote.

Dyrne · 01/07/2019 18:21

@Yesididnamechange I can easily imagine getting flustered if a man acted like A twat to me, and saying something like “it’s OK” as a substitute for “please fuck the fuck off and leave me alone if you’re going to be a bellend”

And if you re-read the OP admits the tyre was partially flat, not deflated - so I would have made the call as well to remove myself from the bullying man and drive with care to a local garage/petrol station with a tyre inflator.

MollyMinniesMum · 01/07/2019 18:21

If it’s a public road anyone can park there it’s not “yours”

How very unkind of you both, couldn’t DH have offered to help her instead?

SoupDragon · 01/07/2019 18:31

She didn't need help. How patronising.

Carriecakes80 · 01/07/2019 18:33

I'm just glad I don't have a condescending DH, mine would have said something kind or nothing at all....

You never know what people are going through, why did your husband have to say anything???

saraclara · 01/07/2019 18:34

Why would he laugh at her? I don't get it. Do you think that's reasonable behaviour OP? Because I think he sounds like a dick.

Uptownmum · 01/07/2019 18:36

Plenty of people who think the husband is a bully, twat, knob etc etc need to look in the nearest mirror plenty of the same on this thread.
Your all doing exactly the same thing!!!
She asked for an option not a slaughter!

crazycatgal · 01/07/2019 18:37

Why would anyone want to be with a twat of a man who belittles and laughs at women?

My DP would offer to help her with the tyre.

Yesididnamechange · 01/07/2019 18:42

dryne yes fair enough. I think I let my judgement get the better of me as someone close to me was involved in a serious accident as a result of another drivers flat tyre, it makes me anxious to think people would brush it off Sad

AtrociousCircumstance · 01/07/2019 18:50

He sounds horrible.

Poppyfields21 · 01/07/2019 18:51

Your husband sounds like a pillock. HTH Wink

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 01/07/2019 18:54

Mine had run flat tyres so I'd have driven off if I were her. Your DH sounds like a patronising arse. Hope you told him how out of order he was.

Ated · 01/07/2019 19:02

Why didn't he offer to help her. He sounds like a right bell end and condescending.

FishGingers · 01/07/2019 19:07

LTB

That’s horrid laughing at other people’s misfortune. What a horrible man. The poor lady was probably at the end of her tether and didn’t need some entitled busybody making a joke at her expense. Can you not see how badly behaved your husband was?

Definitely YABU if you even have to ask?!

Dyrne · 01/07/2019 19:10

Yesididnamechange sorry to hear that Flowers

I think the reason people are reacting like they are is because the DH doesn’t sound like he actually cares about the car safety aspect of it at all - otherwise he would have said something along the lines of “hey, did you know your tyre’s looking a bit flat? You can pump it up at the petrol station on XYZ road”.

The way he’s described here just makes it sound like he wanted to be superior.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 01/07/2019 19:11

Hmm. Is your 'D'H normally such a knob?

Bouledeneige · 01/07/2019 19:17

Hmmm. What would Jesus do?

useless65 · 01/07/2019 19:18

Not clear what you are saying - sound like your DH is being a prick
