I love that visual from back in the field, when it's dark and all the flags are lit up by the stage lights. It's so beautiful.

Jellykat · 30/06/2019 22:37

Oh yes!

gingerginger2 · 30/06/2019 22:37

I was at Crystal Palace too!

I really really hope they do HOt HoT hOT

hazeyjane · 30/06/2019 22:37

Seriously people, Robert Smith literally hasn’t spoken to the crowd once.

Because it's The fucking Cure, not Adele.

Redcrayons · 30/06/2019 22:37

If that were true they’d get the bands of the moment queuing up

Tickets are £££ and it sells out in hours. Not exactly struggling.

PolkadotLollipop · 30/06/2019 22:38

People pay a lot of money for nostalgia and those folk in their 40’s and 50’s (and beyond) have got the disposable income to spend on it. You betcha the bookers are going to be lining up acts like this.

tomtom1999xx · 30/06/2019 22:38

Yes, Glastonbury looking beautiful now it’s dark.

Sakura7 · 30/06/2019 22:39

@Bearbehind It's not your thing, that's fine, but you don't need to keep ramming it down the throats of the majority of posters here who are enjoying it.

Also, Glastonbury has always had older acts perform, often headlining. David Bowie and Rod Stewart both headlined in the early noughties, a good 30 years after their heyday.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 30/06/2019 22:40

If I didn't like the music I'd switch off rather than making ill-informed pronouncements on the music and viewers.

Bearbehind · 30/06/2019 22:40

Yes, who would you prefer played, bear? Cmon, show us tedious old fogeys how it's done

Isn’t that the whole point?

Glastonbury is a bit tragic if the headline acts are for the over 40’s - it should be headlined by people I’ve never heard of

DisputedChair · 30/06/2019 22:40

Yy @hazeyjane. Grin

Fibbke · 30/06/2019 22:41

Theres shit loads of other bands. Rex orange county are playing now, will they do you

Roundtheislands · 30/06/2019 22:42

I'm 53 - not nostalgia - I didn't like The Cure but omg this is brilliant

WatcherintheRye · 30/06/2019 22:42

They struggle to do what, Bear? Certainly not to fill the venue. And who are these 'bands of the moment' you'd prefer? The Cure are smashing it.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 30/06/2019 22:43

@gingerginger2 it was amazing wasn't it? Lush, James, All About Eve and then The Cure. Absolutely fabulous day.

Roundtheislands · 30/06/2019 22:43

Bear I loved Miley too so that certainly isn't nostalgia!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 30/06/2019 22:43

It should be headlined by unknowns? I'm not sure you really understand how huge music festivals work.

Fibbke · 30/06/2019 22:43

I'm not a cure fan, dh is which is why we are watching. But this set is marvellous.

Jellykat · 30/06/2019 22:43

Hell, Dave Grohl is 50, he'd kick the arse of any 20 year old performer..

Roundtheislands · 30/06/2019 22:43

Tickets sell out every year in 30 minutes, hardly struggling!

NigellasGuest · 30/06/2019 22:44

Just to say, The Cure are fantastic!
I was at uni when they were in the charts etc. Now I'm 55

Fibbke · 30/06/2019 22:44

Karl Hyde of Underworld is 62 and i challenge you to find a more energetic performer

tomtom1999xx · 30/06/2019 22:44

The cure.
Best Glastonbury act this year for me.
Just brilliant.

PickAChew · 30/06/2019 22:45

Glasto always have a Sunday night "legends" slot.

There's other stages for people who don't like it.

Janelle Monae mumbles like a bad pub singer.

ShinyMe · 30/06/2019 22:46

There have been loads of acts on this weekend who I've never heard of! Current young(er than me) acts, some of whom have been fab - Foals, Pale Waves, The Courteeners, Billie Eilish, Vampire Weekend... They're people I'll keep an eye out for and consider seeing live if they're nearish to me at any point. The good thing about festivals like Glastonbury is there is a real mix of all sorts of types of music and levels of famousness. If you don't like one thing, there'll be something else on another stage or in an hour that you might love.
