The Cure weren't massively on my radar as a teenager, but we danced to Lovecats for a routine once in ballet (yes really!) and I got an album after that. In fact, I may even have had two. I remember a black and white one with Lovecats on, and a pinky purple one that came a bit later when they got a bit more mainstream (with Friday I'm in Love perhaps?)

I'd forgotten how clever some of the lyrics are. High is like poetry.

tomtom1999xx · 30/06/2019 21:59

God wish I was there.

The80sweregreat · 30/06/2019 21:59

Hair is mad but I like his top!

saladfingers · 30/06/2019 21:59

1986 watched The Cure in a thunderstorm! Been 9 times but at 52 I'm happy to leave it to my kids

Redcrayons · 30/06/2019 22:00

I guess they don't do Killing an Arab anymore. My DCs were outraged when I played it to them.

StoorieHoose · 30/06/2019 22:00

I might have been very drunk magpie1976 and it wasn't Elastica I saw but I have no memory of watching the Cure

Fizzywinegum · 30/06/2019 22:02

His voice is amazing. I used to be a massive Cure fan - I love it that he and Mary are still married. I’ve seen them live a few times.

I was a bit shocked about Robert Smith being 60 but I’m 50 now - I used to try to get my hair to look like his as well Smile

I’ve also seen Jesus and Mary chain live (they played for 15 minutes with their backs to the audience)

MrsJBaptiste · 30/06/2019 22:02

Not sure about the Cure, never liked them, never will.

Miley Cyrus however, was amazing. Her voice! You couldn't even tell she was singing live. Brilliant and I usually do not like her at all

Andcake · 30/06/2019 22:02

Loving the cure although a few tears remembering teenage angst...and a bit due to playground mum bullying...ohh the irony

macaroniandpizza · 30/06/2019 22:03

Bunfight bingo is almost a full house on this thread. Fwiw ive never been to glastonbury but i know people working there just now and they say its been amazing fun all round

Jellykat · 30/06/2019 22:03

Oh blimey Redcrayons, yes in thi sday and age i guess they would've been.. hadn't occurred to me!

Bearbehind · 30/06/2019 22:06

Seriously people , Robert Smith literally hasn’t spoken to the crowd once.

This is not how to headline a festival.

It’s shit.

You can’t live on the fact a few people liked you 40 years ago

sweeneytoddsrazor · 30/06/2019 22:07

@Redcrayons I love that song. I did wonder if they would play it or not.

I accidentally ended up in a mosh at a foo fighters tribute band earlier this year. Not as much fun as I remember from my younger days Grin

The80sweregreat · 30/06/2019 22:08

He should speak to people that have paid 300 quid to see them!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 30/06/2019 22:08

I don't go to see The Cure to hear Robert Smith talk GrinGrin

sweeneytoddsrazor · 30/06/2019 22:08

@Bearbehind most of the crowd look like they are enjoying it.

Fibbke · 30/06/2019 22:10

I think its a great set. Of course he doesn't have to speak to the crowd.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 30/06/2019 22:10

I'm enjoying this so much. They are amazing.

Violetparis · 30/06/2019 22:10

I'd like a magic portal to transport me from my sofa to Glastonbury to see the bands I like, then transport me back when I need the toilet and need my bed ! The Cure sound brilliant but I want them to play a more poppy song now.

ShinyMe · 30/06/2019 22:10

He looks a bit like Julie Burchill, poor bloke.

I'm enjoying it though. I don't care that he's not talking (he did say hello earlier though.)

Justmuddlingalong · 30/06/2019 22:11

I prefer bands who cram in the songs, giving people their money's worth. Better than a few tunes and then a chat as a filler and to get their puff back.

Sakura7 · 30/06/2019 22:12

I think most acts spend a bit too much time talking to the crowd. As PP said, people are there to hear them play and they're doing a damn good job. Grin

Sakura7 · 30/06/2019 22:12

Happy now?

LaLaLamp · 30/06/2019 22:12

haha he must have been listening to us!

The80sweregreat · 30/06/2019 22:12

He speaks!
