Most of the talking I've heard from other acts has been little more than "hellooooo GlastonBEEERRRY!.... clap your hands.... everyone at the back.... WOooooooo!... Thank you Glastonberrry!" - so I honestly feel fine that Robert Smith is skipping that bit.

The80sweregreat · 30/06/2019 22:24

They are fantastic musicians.
Singing live too. I'm impressed and I didn't think I would be!
Younger goths will take heart.

Jellykat · 30/06/2019 22:25

I can go to Glasto to work anytime, thought long and hard this year but remembered what i'm like with no sleep! and there wasn't anyone i wanted to sacrifice it for this year.
However if QOTSA play, i'll be there..

Bearbehind · 30/06/2019 22:25

Like I said, hands up who isn’t in their 40’s + and isn’t just liking this for the memories?

The80sweregreat · 30/06/2019 22:26

If love to go ' hellooo Glastonbury '
Maybe in another life. I'll have to put it to the universe.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 30/06/2019 22:26

Given the fact that Glastonbury hits the big 50 next year and gets more and more popular by the year, I think it's safe to say the organisers know exactly what they are doing when they book headline acts.

JaneJeffer · 30/06/2019 22:27

By that logic nobody would listen to The Beatles unless they were over 60!

PinkieTuscadero · 30/06/2019 22:27

I think they've been amazing

martingoresnipplechain · 30/06/2019 22:27

I'm 24 and loving watching The Cure because, as someone previously said, his voice and their sound is still incredible. Smile

Sakura7 · 30/06/2019 22:28

@Bearbehind I don't know what you're listening to because this set is incredible.

And no, I don't remember them from my youth as I was just a baby when they were at the height of their fame. I was in college in 2005 when I first properly listened to them, thanks to a classmate raving about them and lending me a CD.

PinkieTuscadero · 30/06/2019 22:29

Janelle Monae is playing now too. She's also brilliant in a v different way.

PinkieTuscadero · 30/06/2019 22:30

I wasn't listening to The Cure in their heyday either.

Justmuddlingalong · 30/06/2019 22:30

Music evokes nostalgia and memories. Isn't that a good thing? Perhaps drop an email to the Glastonbury bookers, Bearbehind, giving your suggestions for next year's line up. They're obviously not doing it right...oh wait.

Bearbehind · 30/06/2019 22:30

I think it's safe to say the organisers know exactly what they are doing when they book headline acts.

Totally disagree.

If that were true they’d get the bands of the moment queuing up.

They struggle.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 30/06/2019 22:31

Oh bear, you've made your point Hmm

Fibbke · 30/06/2019 22:32

What bands of the moment arent at glasto?

Jellykat · 30/06/2019 22:33

Which bands of the moment are you thinking of Bear? you don't get more current then Bille Eilish or Janelle Monae..

ShinyMe · 30/06/2019 22:34

Who are these wonderful 'bands of the moment' that would sell out a festival? I'm old and only listen to radio 2, so I genuinely have no idea. But I don't see Glastonbury struggling to sell tickets, or the field emptying as everyone gives up and goes to bed early.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 30/06/2019 22:34

Yes, who would you prefer played, bear? Cmon, show us tedious old fogeys how it's done...

Bearbehind · 30/06/2019 22:35

Each to their own.

IMO this has been one long set of variations on the same song

StoorieHoose · 30/06/2019 22:35

I think Bear is trying to tell us it's us oldiea that ruin everything

Herefortheduration · 30/06/2019 22:36

@Bearbehind

Me, I'm in my fifties! Unlike Robert, he's in his 60's. I'm sure plenty of today's acts will still be around in their 60's, I hope they are too, I've loved loads of what I've seen this weekend.

IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod · 30/06/2019 22:36

Why is there no vote on the ones you want to vote onAngry
YABU

PinkieTuscadero · 30/06/2019 22:37

switch over to janelle monae in that case. Why sit through something you're not enjoying?

martingoresnipplechain · 30/06/2019 22:37

So glad they're doing A Forest Grin
