Not to have realised until now that Joey Maynard’s ‘displaced organ’ was a prolapse?

I know there is or was an enormous Chalet School thread but I can’t spend six weeks trawling through that.

Fascinated to note (because I’ve been reading the complete synopses how all the CS women taken seriously ill either went straight to the San or journeyed - over days - for a consultation with Sir James Talbot. It was he who diagnosed said ‘displaced organ’. At which point Joey had iirc nine children. May be wrong, lost count.

(I read and reread the entire series over my first three decades.)

Quartz2208 · 04/07/2019 21:14

Thank you

I am also going to search and see how many I have (at my parents house) and I think I am only missing a few. Jo to the Rescue must be one though as that plot is not familiar at all

Papergirl1968 · 04/07/2019 21:54

Bertrand, just checking, did you send the details to:
Anothertempusername
doubleraspberry
Teddyready
Bassclef

@QuaterMiss

You have deadlines?

Are you the Editor of The Times, perchance?

Anyway - reading CS books is far more important than deadlines and looking after DC in my opinion so I would say Go For It.

Jemima232 · 04/07/2019 21:58

@Quartz2208

I haven't read Jo to the Rescue either.

I consider that Jo ought to rescue her own, unfortunate maid-servant, who does all her housework, cooking and childcare while Jo swans off and eats Kuchen with the mistresses of the CS, who are similarly neglectful of their duties.

I wish I had a job where eating cakes was part of the job description.

I’m still a straggler - pretty please can I have the link?

capercaillie · 04/07/2019 22:07

Been meaning to do a re-read of my CS books. Have them in a box somewhere. I was beyond excited last year when I realised I was going on holiday near Pertisau in Austria where the first few books are set. No-one else in the family quite got my enthusiasm :-)

TailsoftheManyPaws · 04/07/2019 22:10

Papergirl/Bertrand, may I have the link too, pretty please? I need to read it while wrestling with my delightfully chintzy sprigged curtains...

LaurieMarlow · 04/07/2019 22:18

I’d love the link too. Sorry to add more to the load.

Papergirl1968 · 04/07/2019 22:18

Bertrand, I’ve just sent the details to the last three, Tails, Flouncy and Deeply...

LaMarschallin · 04/07/2019 22:18

Gah! Now trying to remember what Jo's Anna is always called.
Something like her faithful factotum or major domo or something.

Since Jo was always sticky-beaking into CS business, writing millions of books, winding her hair into that godawful style, etc, it meant that Anna was single-handedly running a huge household, cooking, cleaning, laundering.....
Still. As long as Jo didn't have to do it.

Papergirl1968 · 04/07/2019 22:19

And have sent to Laurie too

Papergirl1968 · 04/07/2019 22:21

The faithful Anna. And the coajutator? Something like that? Don’t think it’s quite right.
I think in one of the books Anna has a young man but decides against marrying him to stay and help Jo!
