Not to have realised until now that Joey Maynard’s ‘displaced organ’ was a prolapse?

I know there is or was an enormous Chalet School thread but I can’t spend six weeks trawling through that.

Fascinated to note (because I’ve been reading the complete synopses how all the CS women taken seriously ill either went straight to the San or journeyed - over days - for a consultation with Sir James Talbot. It was he who diagnosed said ‘displaced organ’. At which point Joey had iirc nine children. May be wrong, lost count.

(I read and reread the entire series over my first three decades.)

Okey doke, new thread here:

God bless all who sail in her.

And stay away from warm milk!

(Apols for hastiness - need a clear run towards The Archers.)

www.chaletschool.org.uk/cuts-in-the-armada-paperbacks.html

I’m still only reading page 14 but here is a list of which armada books are cut from the Friends of the Chalet School website.
I eventually got a full list of all the titles 50 years after I read my first book.
Somme from my childhood, some Armada uncut versions, some from Girls Gone By and other hardback versions that I managed to buy reasonably.
This is replying to a comment about Robin on page 14. I thought she was quite forceful and self confident when she rescued Adrienne from the thieves’ garret after her artist father died.
Robin was then a nun in a convent in France but shortly to return to her mother house in Canada.

No - surely not?!

That’s not history - that’s my childhood. (Explains why it didn’t come into my undergrad History.) Will ask my mother how it was. Because she was being paid in England from the 50s and certainly wouldn’t have had any male relative to countersign stuff before she married.

In 1999, I was married with a full-time job and my own bank account; I took on a PT job for holiday spending money, and wanted to keep it in a separate account. The TSB wanted my husband's bank details before I could open an account with them! (Went somewhere else, needless to say)
