Not to have realised until now that Joey Maynard’s ‘displaced organ’ was a prolapse?

I know there is or was an enormous Chalet School thread but I can’t spend six weeks trawling through that.

Fascinated to note (because I’ve been reading the complete synopses how all the CS women taken seriously ill either went straight to the San or journeyed - over days - for a consultation with Sir James Talbot. It was he who diagnosed said ‘displaced organ’. At which point Joey had iirc nine children. May be wrong, lost count.

(I read and reread the entire series over my first three decades.)

@Papergirl1968 - with Dropbox you can view them through the Box or save them to your own computer.

I think I’ve added everyone who has sent an email. Please let me know if I have missed anyone.

BertrandRussell · 11/07/2019 08:48

Should I have had an email? No rush of course.....

SweetestThing · 11/07/2019 09:43

@Parker231, have emailed you. Many thanks for this vital public service you are providing :)

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/07/2019 09:52

Enjoying the Dropbox this morning, but a few questions...
When does WWII end book wise?
I know books have been combined/split over the years, two I am missing from my collection are Jo Returns, and the one where they take over At Scholasticas, are they in the drop box under a different name?

Also is any mention ever made of Elisaveta after her school years?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/07/2019 09:53

And a massive thank you to all who have made the Dropbox possible!

Jins · 11/07/2019 09:54

I’m so relieved that I saved them.

Hidden amongst the documents there should be a zip file. This may be all of the books but I haven’t checked it. I did quite a bit of messing around with the folder when I was converting some of them to kindle format then I went away to a festival and haven’t looked at it since. If I get a chance I’ll take a look at what I’ve sent across.

I thought the priority would be to get them over to Parker for the Dropbox. Grin

Howyoualldoworkme · 11/07/2019 11:13

@Parker231 I think I've downloaded Dropbox successfully so I'll send you my email if that's ok.
I've got a long train journey to Wales next week so that might just save me killing my travel fussing DH Grin

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 11/07/2019 12:12

I've downloaded Dropbox and sent you a pm @Parker231. Thank you all for making this happen. I feel I'm (hopefully) going to open a treasure trove.

SweetestThing · 11/07/2019 13:53

My copy of Chalet Girls Grow Up has just arrived. One chapter in and I can see that I will be staying up late tonight to try and finish it!!

MercifulHour · 11/07/2019 14:03

@Aroundtheworldin80moves, adult Elisaveta shows up in a deeply unlikely way in Highland Twins.

And good question when the war ends in the books -- it's still very much on in Jo to the Rescue, but I don't remember any specific declarations of peace being an over theme? Three Go has a character refusing to speak German on patriotic grounds, after the school has resumed its trilingual week.

kenwigses · 11/07/2019 14:37

Oh wow, finding this thread has made my day! Long time lurker and Chalet fan here.

Parker, just messaged you, would love to be added to the Dropbox if it's not too much trouble. Looking forward to a Chalet binge!

Doubleraspberry · 11/07/2019 15:39

The war doesn’t end during a book. There is a fill in called Peace Comes To The Chalet School that is supposedly quite good but as it costs more second hand than some of the originals do I’ve never read it!

Parker231 · 11/07/2019 19:11

I’ve just sent another batch of invitations to the Dropbox. If you have pm’d me your email address but not had an invite please let me know.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 11/07/2019 20:06

Could you send one to me please, @Parker231?

RoundingError · 11/07/2019 20:18

Has anyone managed to get them all on to a Kindle? I can read on my phone, but if I can get them on to my Kindle then dd can read them, and she’s very keen (though annoyed that she’d be KG baby in CS terms).

Parker231 · 11/07/2019 20:35

Haven’t tried it but found this.....

How to Transfer PDFs to a Kindle

Locate the PDF file either on your desktop or within the file browser.
Connect the Kindle to your computer via USB cable. ...
Locate the “documents” folder within the Kindle. ...
Drag and drop the PDF file from the original location to the Kindle “documents” folder.

Jins · 11/07/2019 20:38

Another way is to download Calibre. It will convert to kindle format and then email it to your kindle email address. Or you can email it directly

Find your kindle email in settings or in your amazon account

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 11/07/2019 20:40

Thank you Parker. I have the files, just need to find a way of opening them. Thanks for the IT help, guys :)

Papergirl1968 · 11/07/2019 21:22

Can you do me again, please, Parker? I’ve set up a new email account which I’ll PM to you now

MightyMagnificentScarfaceClaw · 11/07/2019 21:43

Please could I be invited Parker? I have DMed you.

meala · 12/07/2019 09:42

Hi @Parker231. I sent a pm with email address but didn't get a link. I'll pm again if that's OK.

RoundingError · 12/07/2019 11:01

Thanks for all the tech support - I think I’ve done it!

SweetestThing · 12/07/2019 11:26

Hi @Parker231 - I sent an email but no link. Let me know if I need to pm you again and thank you for doing this.

moggiemonster · 12/07/2019 11:54

Another lurker popping up, could I please have the Dropbox link @Parker231 ? Will pm you my address. I only own a few paperbacks which I re-read in times of stress.

moggiemonster · 12/07/2019 13:05

Thanks @Parker231....now to find time to read them all.
