Enough to prompt a neighbour to call police?

I am sure if we didn’t live in a detached house with a big distance between us and our neighbours we definitely would have had the police called.

I know a few friends who have had the police called because of arguments.

I have had the riot squad, complete with tear gas turn up on my doorstep when we have been entertaining.

Can’t really get worked up about a lefties neighbour calling the police when they heard 2 people arguing when they live in an old flat conversion.
You can’t fart in those places without your neighbours hearing

BertrandRussell · 25/06/2019 10:01

How unlike the home life of our own dear Queen......

Peregrina · 25/06/2019 10:05

Not heard of the saying People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, Oliversmumsarmy?
I bet you would be cheering if a right winger reported a Labour person for having a blazing row.

Helmetbymidnight · 25/06/2019 10:40

Its shocking the way people are implying we shouldn't call the police when we hear a screaming match that is 'frightening'. This goes against all Police advice and advice from domestic abuse charities and survivors.

Its shocking that people are implying all the neighbours are 'lefties' and therefore not to take them seriously. There were a lot of people who heard this and said it was frightening - and they weren't all 'lefties'. Please get your facts right.

I was puzzled by his interview with Laura Kuennsberg yesterday and also the one with LBC where he talks about not dragging his family and 'loved ones' into political life. Carrie Symonds was Head of Communications for the Conservative Party until last year and is credited with masterminding his public image for this campaign. His team have also published this photo. She's core to what he's trying to achieve - not an innocent bystander. I'm puzzled if this is what his advisory team told him what to say. Anyway - life goes on.. .

Cressida Dick has come out and said that the neighbours were absolutely right to call the police. www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jun/25/cressida-dick-defends-neighbours-boris-johnson-recording

TruthOnTrial · 25/06/2019 13:21

So we're not believing then? Because politics, because her role!, because walls thin, because some other excuses!

Hearing she wanted him to leave, but he stayed?!

TruthOnTrial · 25/06/2019 13:37

Picture published to 'show' how luvdup they are!!

He claims its recent, and he refused to answer specific questions about when it was taken [just laughing and denegrating the interview -tactics]

justasking111 · 25/06/2019 14:03

Absolutely right to call the police. Absolutely wrong to send recording to the media. Supposing it had been serious, that would have hindered the police, CPS etc.

ChicCroissant · 25/06/2019 14:14

Laura Kuenssberg did call him out on the fact that he said he wouldn't talk about his family yet was happy to publish a photo of himself and Carrie - I thought she did raise the difficult issues.

There are some good memes of that photo doing the rounds already, the Mills and Boon cover is my current favourite.

I said right from the start that Boris would talk his way out of the job, he just doesn't say the right thing at the right time. So I can see why his team are trying to stop him speaking but it's not a good look when you are bidding for the job of PM!

TruthOnTrial · 25/06/2019 14:46

He obviously believes that he can do what he likes and is above having to explain himself.

Nice abusive attitude!

Hes is own spin doctor like all of them.

You and your friends sound delightful. Hmm

BertrandRussell · 25/06/2019 14:55

Looking forward to hearing what Laura’s got to say on the next Brexitcast.....

LenoVentura · 25/06/2019 16:48

justasking Cressida Dick also said a recording of this type of incident is often helpful to the police.

HelenaDove · 25/06/2019 17:01

His team have also published this photo

Hmm And if this was someone like Katie Price for instance people would be calling her a hypocrite for moaning about media intrusion and then courting the media.

And i bet IF something like this happened at her place and IF her neighbours called the police the press that are denigrating Johnsons neighbours would be loving it and praising them for it.

ChicCroissant · 25/06/2019 17:52

The Mills and Boon meme has just been beaten by one that has put them on the deck of the Titanic!

Cressida Dick has come out and said that the neighbours were absolutely right to call the police.

Well, she can only take their word for their state of mind, can’t she? There’s no big reveal in what she’s said - if you’re ‘worried’ about your neighbor, obviously her advise is to call the police. She’s not going to speculate on their motives.

crankysaurus · 25/06/2019 19:13

I've seen that don't the rounds on Twitter, Bertram, but only just realised what it says! Grin

KevinKeegansPerm · 25/06/2019 19:34

Blimey. Those neighbours want to be grateful that they don't live next door to mine. Their weekly rows can be heard in the next street i think, let alone next door.

ChicCroissant · 25/06/2019 19:38

Boris and Carrie on the Titanic, I spotted this on Twitter (I didn't make it!)

DdraigGoch · 25/06/2019 20:40

So. Neighbours hear argument. Hear smashing crockery. Decide to call the police and to record what they can hear as evidence.

So far, so straightforward. If you suspect a crime is being committed, you should call the police.

The police attend, decide that nothing is amiss.

Neighbours sell/give recording to newspaper (not sure whether money did change hands). This is the bit where I suspect the motives of the neighbours. At no point in any guide to dealing with domestics is "contact newspaper" mentioned.

Then there is the mob gathered around her address.

HelenaDove · 25/06/2019 20:44

the mob protesting outside her home are bloody out of order

KevinKeegansPerm · 25/06/2019 20:44

On saying that, mine are off again. Apparently she's a fucking bone idle bitch.
Wonder which newspaper will pay me the most for my ' story ' ?

Defenbaker · 25/06/2019 21:46

BJ seems to be doing a lot of squirming lately, as people are asking many awkward questions that he can't answer. I am more convinced than ever now that he just constantly changes his story on any given subject, to suit whoever he's talking to. He has the furtive look of a schoolboy who has been caught smoking behind the bike shed. I'm stunned that he's actually in the final two up for leadership. Hopefully the tories will see sense soon.
