To declare Sausage egg and chips the best quick tea?

Simplicity and perfection.
Everyone has always forgotten how nice it is, always enjoy it and you can't really fuck it up.

Not a greasy spoon lunch must be cheese omelette, chips, bread & butter and a mug of builders brew.

I used to work in a place that had a lot of old fashioned print works not that far away, and there were the most amazing Spanish greasy spoon cafes dotted around.

It used to be our Friday treat (or when someone was having a bad day - you’d get a call with the 3 words we all live to hear ‘greasy spoon lunch?’)

Bacon, beans and eggs was a very quick tea for my DS last night, he was very happy.

I love sausage, egg and chips but it’s not exactly a quick or easy meal! It creates loads of washing up too.

The sausages need to be watched and turned, oven chips seem to take ages and also need to be shifted around from time to time. Eggs (fried) are tricky to cook exactly right (sunny side up but yolk cooked properly and hot) and also timing two eggs per person (there are lots of us) to be ready at the same time as everything else, is tricky.

Where am I going wrong?!

Oven chips? Can’t you do sausages in the oven too? Teach the kids to fry an egg and you are done!

I dont think it's a quick tea. Frying thick sausages takes ages, plus peeling potatoes, par boiling then frying. Lovely when I can be arsed though!

That is a quality dinner for sure. I have sausage and mash cooking right now.

How do you cook the chips 'quick'? Anything with chips never quick enough for me!

Egg and chips is our lazy can't-be-arsed meal. With buppy bread of course.

Sausage egg & chips isn’t a quick meal, omelette is much quicker.
Spaghetti carbonara is a great quickish meal.

My super quick meal is noodles with stuff chucked in, spinach, meat, fish, mushrooms whatever. Maybe some miso. Then an egg on top and coriander. Yum!

I microwave one or two of the McCain frozen jacket spuds for five minutes. Bung cheese and butter in for one more minute et voila Easy, delicious and filling.

Oven chips and sausages also done in oven are great too.

So not a family bag of kettle crisps and a jar of Dorito dada then

Fish finger sandwich on white bread with ketchup!!!!

We've just had camp fire Clonakilty sausages (The Best!) Followed by toasted marshmallows.
School holidays start tomorrow.

I will now have this for tea having come on here in search of yummy recipes that are easy because I have a cold and a migraine. But I'm just doing the eggs and chips with some nuked beans. I knew mumsnet would come through.

Yabu Ham egg and chips is the best tea as you don't need to cook ham!

Needs some fruit or veg. I'd prefer a cooked breakfast for dinner, with at least two of spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes or baked beans

I wouldn't say it's quick. But it's definitely easy and delish.
