No sign of DH and DD - AIBU to feel really really worried?

Starting to feel a bit panicky - AIBU?

DH picks DD (2.5) up from nursery on Wednesdays, usually at about 5.30. The nursery closes at 6.30. Sometimes he takes her to visit his grandmother before they come home.

She just called to ask if she can see them later in the week as he didn’t drop by today. So if they aren’t there, where are they??? The nursery closed over an hour ago.

AIBU to start to panic? DH doesn’t carry a mobile phone, and I can’t phone his work/the nursery to find out what time he picked up as both are now closed. If he hadn’t picked her up, they’d have been phoning me, right?

Hope they are home soon OP.

If it gets much later I'd definitely ring 101.

And he needs a phone. Whether he likes it or not!

Cheby · 19/06/2019 20:21

Oh thank fuck for that OP! I’m so relieved!

popsy0152 · 19/06/2019 20:21

Glad they are home safe OP. Definitely agree with him needing a phone in the car though Flowers

crazychemist · 19/06/2019 20:21

Thank you all so much for keeping me company/distracted while I waited, it really did help the time go faster and made me feel less of an idiot for being so stressed!

Xxxxx

Cross post! So so glad to hear they are home and safe!

FindaPenny · 19/06/2019 20:21

Great to hear they are OK x

Violet1988 · 19/06/2019 20:21

Phew glad DD is ok. Xx

pudcat · 19/06/2019 20:21

Glad she is back but don't service stations have phones.

crazychemist · 19/06/2019 20:22

My heart rate is still about 180 I reckon

The minute she is in bed, I would absolutely lose my shit. This is such a selfish inconsiderate thing for him to have done!

MRex · 19/06/2019 20:22

So glad it was nothing. Carrying a phone in future is fair. Also suggest he should be checking in at certain times if they aren't back, he's been ridiculously late today.

Beesandcheese · 19/06/2019 20:22

Oh thank goodness. X

icelollycraving · 19/06/2019 20:22

Glad they are safe and sound. Hope you have some wine in!!

Rosielily · 19/06/2019 20:22

I really don’t want my mum to get stressed and angry at DH

But surely your peace of mind for your daughter and husband overrides this concern?

Wouldn't your parents want to help find their granddaughter?

In any event this will be the first thing the police will ask you about - people he may have visited.

Why don't your parents like him?

SmellMySmellbow · 19/06/2019 20:22

I would kick off BIG TIME. That's so out of order to leave you worrying like that. Don't let him convince you you're over-reacting. Not a single person on here has said you are wrong to be worried. It's very selfish. I'm very very relieved for you. Sending a large glass of something strong.

MiaowMix · 19/06/2019 20:22

@crazychemist glad they're home safe but WHY does your husband not have phone? It's just so selfish to put you through that... WineThanks

Blankspace4 · 19/06/2019 20:22

Thank god for that!!!!! He really does need a phone though, unreasonable to expect you wouldn’t be worried when he is hours later than expected with no attempt to make contact.

akmum18 · 19/06/2019 20:22

So glad they’re back safe he should be ashamed of himself keeping her out this late and not thinking you’d worry! I hope he has learnt a lesson and grovelling to you Wine

PumpkinPie2016 · 19/06/2019 20:23

So glad they are home safe!

What an idiot though to be missing so long and not think you would worry!

I'd be insisting he carry a phone from now on. There is no excuse not to.

ohbabybabyy · 19/06/2019 20:23

From what you've said I'd assume he's either broken down or maybe there was traffic.. You must be very worried though! I once got stuck in traffic for over 2 and a half hours on the way home from work and my phone had died whilst at work. I was more bothered that my DP would be so worried wondering where I was and when I finally got home DP was watching tv and hadn't even noticed I was back nearly 3 hours after my shift finished 😭

CantspellWontspell · 19/06/2019 20:23

Phew! All’s well that ends well... but precious needs a phone to keep in the car just for these kinds of occasions.

needsleepzzz · 19/06/2019 20:23

Whew! March him to a shoo tomorrow and demand he gets a phone! He's in charge of a toddler he needs to be able to contact and be contactable by you as a minimum!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/06/2019 20:23

Everyone heaves a sigh of relief ... Smile

So pleased for you, OP; realistically we all know disasters are unlikely, but it doesn't stop the worry at times like this. Just make sure he carries a mobile in future!!

Isatis · 19/06/2019 20:23

Even assuming he didn't collect your DD till 6.30, it's difficult to understand how all that took nearly two hours. And he's going to have to explain why it didn't occur to him to borrow a phone to call you.

FlowerTink · 19/06/2019 20:23

So pleased for you that they're back!
