on Sunday went to a local country fair

was watching a bloke with no shirt, tattoos and baseball cap and bad teeth play with his 8 year old and 12 year old

they were chucking hay from the hay bales over each other

saw another bloke point to his little girl, of about 18 months, and say something (couldn't hear what but assume asking him to be careful)

Chav proceeded to f' and blind and scream at the father for about 5 minutes, gesticulating wildly whilst his children looked on with gleeful laughter

father and toddler with mother and slightly older child just got up and left

chav, disgusting foul bloke, ruining it for everyone

we left

Up until CD joined in and started making me giggle, this thread made me love MN again.

And Greensleeves, I drink vodka smoothies. Well, vodka slush puppies actually but very similar.

This is fascinating stuff. I'm not a chav (or charva as they say in the North East)but most chavs seem to be quite proud of themselves and their possessions/image. They are a tribe after all and enjoy having a recognisable identity. While there's nothing wrong with favouring a particular brand of clothes or music or car (its a matter of personal taste after all) most people would have a problem with anyone who behaved obnoxiously in public, esp when kids are involved.
Whoever said its bad parenting, I agree. Bad parenting isnt confined to a particular class. And those obnoxious morons probably had bad parents themselves. Which doesnt excuse it. I'd call him an oaf rather than a chav.

nightowl as i said before i am in no way trying to say my theories were difinitive answers and i accept that the majority of people are like you and don't live in filth,litter or let their house go to hell in a handbasket.
but i have played football all my life and the truth is that the best football teams (in ireland anyway) tend to come from the poorest areas and from the council estates so i have been going to some of the "worst" of them all my life every two or so weeks, so this is not just some image i have picked up from watching shameless or wife swap, i have been in them with charity work aswell as sporting activities.so while i accept that most people in council housing are like you, i have witnessed with my own eyes the higher levels of litter and vandalism in these areas.

Anyway, back to the country fair. Did it have a carrot that looks the most like a penis competion?
