Madge is on graham Norton. She literally can’t move her face and can barely open her mouth she’s had so much surgery. It seems to have affected her speech it’s so bad.
She’s always been so great but it’s all so disappointing that she has fucked with her face so much.

Apart from looking utterly ridiculous I thought she was incredibly rude. She talked over people the whole time. I was a fan but I’m afraid she made a fool of herself tonight.

Defenbaker · 15/06/2019 00:22

YANBU OP.

She looked ridiculous, squeezed into a corset about 2 sizes too small for her, no wonder she was struggling to breathe. She looked like mutton dressed as lamb and didn't seem mentally alert either. I get that the image and eye patch is all to do with promoting her new album, but if she was wise she'd tweak the outfit a bit so she could breathe properly, and so that it covered a bit more of her thighs (they're not trim enough to carry off that level of exposure) and maybe use make up to denote an eye patch, rather than stagger around with impaired vision. IMO she's lost the plot and has such a massive ego that nobody is brave enough to tell her how awful she looks.

She doesn't need the money so is under no pressure to bring out a new album, or do the associated promo that's needed to sell it. This is all a big ego trip for her, and she seems unable to grasp the fact that by trying so hard to look 30 years younger she is actually making herself look older. She was impressive, but now looks sad.

ragged · 15/06/2019 00:23

She's rich enough to do whatever the F she likes.
She embraces those 'norms' because she likes them.
May even admire them, want to celebrate them.

Whosorrynow · 15/06/2019 00:24

Oh dear poor old Madge🤦

SpeckledyHen · 15/06/2019 00:25

To paraphrase the great Boris Becker - it’s only an email , nobody died .

SpeckledyHen · 15/06/2019 00:25

Wrong thread !

geekone · 15/06/2019 00:27

Meh - she was always rude, it’s not a new thing. I remember when she would only speak to people alone, had the couch on graham to herself and that bed with. Johnny “thingy”

Again I think she was nervous, sharing things she thought would be funny.

We should all be able to grow old however we want, disgracefully or otherwise.

Tillygetsit · 15/06/2019 00:30

I've been thinking oh no Madonna for about the last 20 years.

mabelsgarden · 15/06/2019 00:33

Agree with @SinglePringle - Madonna has earned the right to do what she wants. Leave her alone FGS. If she didn't do anything, (to herself) she would be accused of letting herself go, and looking old and wrinkly.

She is not the best singer, and has never claimed to be. She is an artist, a songwriter, and a dancer, and a singer. She said once that she knows her voice isn't great, but she has always had something to say, (and that's why she writes lyrics,) and she loves to dance and entertain.

Yeah it's a bit awkward seeing her interviewed sometimes, because she can be a bit touchy and maybe takes offence easily, or thinks people are having a go when they're just having a laff, but on the whole, the interview wasn't THAT bad.

I don't think she is unpleasant at all, she is just a bit aloof in interviews, (sometimes,) and doesn't suffer fools gladly.

She's just Madonna, she isn't a great singer, she may have had a bit much botox, and she is a bit cool sometimes.... But she is MADONNA, she is a great performer, her lives shows are ace, (seen her 3 times,) her songs are very good, she has had an illustrious non-stop career for almost 40 years (so far,) she has had 13 number 1 UK hits, 63 top 10 hits, she has spent 15 years out of her career in the top 75 singles, she has sold over 330 MILLION albums, and she is still going strong, entertaining people, and enjoying her life.

I'd like to know what her haters and beraters have done with THEIR lives? Fuck-all I expect! Wink

No I am not her OR her PR manager. I am just a fan of hers for 36 years!

Sorry, but you don't maintain the level of success and fame MADONNA has, (for almost 40 years,) if you are shit!

IfNot · 15/06/2019 00:35

Can we NOT call other women "mutton"? Look, Madonna comes from an arty/punk/70s background. She's like, I dunno, Grace Jones or someone. Normal rules don't apply. I think she's nervy but dryly funny. She's not the most comfortable in a group situation, but she's been a mega star forever. She's in another league. When she talked about going to Lisbon and not knowing anyone she seemed quite weirdly normal though!

geekone · 15/06/2019 00:35

@Defenbaker wow arnt you quite the example of how patriarchy is alive and well in women. Dear god.....

There is not a thigh in the world that needs to be covered up, you think this because it’s ingrained that only skinny young women of child bearing age are worthy and can show off their bodies. This is learned behaviour it shows how we are all affected by the patriarchy. My, much larger than Madonna’s thighs will be out this summer (assuming summer ever arrives) and I don’t want to be thinking about your body shaming bullshit.

TeeTips · 15/06/2019 00:37

I'll have to take a look. I'll have to endure Graham Norton though!

"Tell Me" - the song, the video in the white cowboy stuff - still brilliant when I think about it.

IfNot · 15/06/2019 00:37

Obvs I AM Madonna. AMA.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 15/06/2019 00:38

Not seen the interview yet but I have always been a fan of Madonna, wanted to look like her when I was in my teens, seen her live etc, loved her music, but for the past 10 years or so she has become unrecognisable and I don’t mean how she looks, I have seen a few stage performances and interviews and she now just comes across as someone who has lost her way and become slightly crazy if that makes sense, I still think Cher, Dolly, Kylie, Tina and Debbie are fantastic but somehow cannot put Madonna on that list, I want the super cool Madonna back.

Whosorrynow · 15/06/2019 00:38

Madonna is the icon of icons, she is unprecedented, she is Stellar
come on I think we can overlook the fact that sometimes she doesn't interview well 😊

madderthenaboxofffrogs · 15/06/2019 00:38

Yawn, another thread slagging off Madonna. So much jealously, it's sad to see.

madderthenaboxofffrogs · 15/06/2019 00:44

@mabelsgarden well said, agree totally with all you said.

I'd admire her for doing whatever she wants and still producing amazing music (adore the new album). I look forward to what this era brings and the haters will never give her credit to what she's achieved.

Whosorrynow · 15/06/2019 00:45

Anyway I've watched it and I thought she was cool (very weird I Grant you) but still cool 😁

Whosorrynow · 15/06/2019 00:48

Actually I think weird is fine, maybe she's just reinventing herself as she gets older,
maybe this is a Segway to something else. Women in her position can pave the way for others to reinvent themselves as they get older ...well kind of anyway

mabelsgarden · 15/06/2019 00:55

Thanks @madderthenaboxofffrogs Smile

As a lifelong Madonna fan, I am used to her being slagged off, whether it's for her look, her singing, her aloofness (is that a word?!) or her 'baby stealing' as some accuse her of (even though when Brangelina and Mia Farrow and Marie Osmond did it, they were Angels!) Hmm

It is still annoying though, and even though Madonna seems to keep a cool head, she MUST get sick of it sometimes.

I thought she was very honest tonight, admitting her older kids get embarrassed by their mom being an older pop star who behaves a bit weird and wacky sometimes! They are very young adults though, us old fogey parents often embarrass our young - especially when they are under 25! Grin

Love her or loathe her or something in between, she is always herself and never tried to be anything different, or make anyone like her. Yet here she is still, after all these years...........

LaMarschallin · 15/06/2019 00:57

Just watched the whole thing.
It didn't start well when she had to hold on to the set to make her entrance.
Not age; just too ridiculously trussed up.
And she did seem very rude during Ian Mckellen's interview but I wondered if she missed the glory days when she'd have the last grand finale guest.
Or maybe GN doesn't use that format?
I'm not a regular viewer of his show.

mabelsgarden · 15/06/2019 00:57

Thanks @madderthenaboxofffrogs smile

@RomaineCalm

Good on her. Not many people can conduct an entire interview from over their right shoulder.

Smile
Defenbaker · 15/06/2019 01:17

@Ifone - "mutton dressed as lamb" is a phrase I would use on anyone, male or female, trying to dress as though they're years younger than they are. I'd refer to Sir Ian in the same way, had he been daft enough to appear on the show dressed in an outfit that was too tight, unflattering and made him unable to breathe properly.

@geekone - bare as much thigh as you like, whatever feels comfortable in the summer heat. It's not about body shaming or being ageist. Madonna seems to have a reasonable figure, but the outfit was so tight and so revealing that it made her look overweight. To me, it looked as though she was trying too hard to look younger/thinner, and failed. Hopefully when you bare some thigh this summer it will be in an outfit that fits comfortably and you will be able to breathe freely in, so you will look a lot more relaxed in your own skin than M did in that corset.

Men and women are free to make their own choices about what they wear. Famous people also have that choice, but if they seek publicity by wearing outfits that look silly, it's understandable that people will criticise their choices.

FagashJackie · 15/06/2019 01:22

Oh she is just fabulous. She paved the way for Kylie and Cheryl Crow, amongst others. what she has done for women in music is tremendous. There aren't many superstars around now.
She has it. And as far as I've heard she has done it on her terms without hurting anybody else.
