I don't want to live in a world where we are all censored

OP posts:
bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 21:30

it is not being censored, it is respect.
what they say? if you cantt say it to their faces, dont say it on media.

bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 21:32

and who made you the arbiter IsabellaLinton?

bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 21:32

wouuld you like if someone made a joke that they want to throw acid on you?

Justanotherlurker · 13/06/2019 21:33

there should be a line with comedians, they cant say whatever they like.
do you remember what happened to jonathan ross and russel brand?

No there shouldn't, comedy itself is subjective and we are well known for our sarcasm and comedy.

Government sanctioned comedy is straight up 1984 shit and it wont take long before we get a full on dictatorial leader

IsabellaLinton · 13/06/2019 21:33

@bluebell34567

If you want to live in an authoritarian state where speech and thought and opinion are controlled, fine. You have no right to decide what others should listen to, what others want to say and what others want to think. Just because you don’t like it or agree with it, it doesn’t mean other people can’t or shouldn’t.

fascinated · 13/06/2019 21:34

Rights do not exist in a vacuum. The right to free speech can be limited if objectively justified. Avoiding incitement to violence is such a justification. She's "joking" about a very serious act of violence, acts which do happen in real life (increasingly) and about specific, real people ie politicians. I am not surprised she is being investigated.

bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 21:35

the line is the respect to each other, if you cant say to their faces dont say it on media.

IsabellaLinton · 13/06/2019 21:36

and who made you the arbiter IsabellaLinton?

I have no interest in censoring other people’s speech, unlike you.

wouuld you like if someone made a joke that they want to throw acid on you?

Not particularly, but they can if they want to. I defend their right to say it. It’s their prerogative.

IsabellaLinton · 13/06/2019 21:38

Ah, so you’re the arbiter who decides where the line is. Abide by that rule if you like. No one else is under any obligation to.

bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 21:39

happy for you IsabellaLinton? then.

OneShotLattePlease · 13/06/2019 21:45

“If you can’t say it to their face” it’s not a schoolyard row!

IsabellaLinton · 13/06/2019 21:45

@bluebell34567

It has been highlighted in this scenario, hence why Brand has been reported, it's to highlight the hypocrisy of vocal type who want to highlight nuance and context.

People are falling into the trap though, and unironically in a couple of months blame the right wing MSM

londonrach · 13/06/2019 21:50

Yabu, how dare anyone ask others to throw acid over anyone else. Assault and police matter if anyone did it.

bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 21:51

exactly londonrach

IsabellaLinton · 13/06/2019 21:51

Yabu, how dare anyone ask others to throw acid over anyone else.

She didn’t! Listen to what she actually said!

Jesus wept.

bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 21:53

very, very wrong joke.

bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 21:54

some stuff can not be joke.

IsabellaLinton · 13/06/2019 21:56

@bluebell34567

No, not exactly. That’s not what Jo Brand said. Are you in the habit of making baseless attacks on people who’s words you haven’t actually read or listened to?

bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 21:56

some comedians talk or do what ever that want, without thinking and they think its their right. there is a saying 'he/she who says what comes to their mouth, farts what comes to their a*'.

IsabellaLinton · 13/06/2019 21:57

@bluebell34567

Anything and everything is a subject for humour. You don’t get to tell other people what’s funny. Sorry to break it to you.

This is all just babble...

MadamMMA · 13/06/2019 22:02

I love Jo Brand but yes not a wise joke, I don’t like Farage but wouldn’t want that to befall him, there are people out there that would take that joke as a instruction

bluebell34567 · 13/06/2019 22:02

i am no longer answering you isabella if you are aware.

IsabellaLinton · 13/06/2019 22:06

@bluebell34567

You can’t defend your position. I understand. Smile
