I don't want to live in a world where we are all censored

OP posts:

Them=it, I'm off to bed.

Zipee · 14/06/2019 13:15

I would say actually the stuff about "controlling the borders" and language used aroubd immigration and terrorism by the leave campaign was a najor driver for Brexit, so the memory of the London bombings may have been part of it yes

Oh and you did attack me, you said ylu think I might be a kid to try to denigrate my arguments.

AngelsSins · 14/06/2019 13:18

Has a male comedian ever been investigated by the police for making a rape joke?

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 14/06/2019 13:19

I personally don’t give a shiny shit about what Jo Brand said but the sheer hypocrisy of the bbc is the issue.

Another of their favourites is to have slip of the tongues
Jeremy Hunt seems to be to hard for them to get their brains around and becomes Jeremy cunt.

Funny how it is only the bbc who have this mind block when it comes to his name

IsabellaLinton · 14/06/2019 13:19

Jordan Peterson does however believe in male supremacy, and doesn't believe that sexism is a major issueor male or white privilege

Oh come off it! I’d love it if you could point me to a single instance of his supporting ‘male supremacy’!

As for sexism, I agree with him, we have equality now. White privilege, agree with him, no such thing.

Zipee · 14/06/2019 13:19

Nope, Dapper Laughs did lose his tv show though.

Zipee · 14/06/2019 13:23

"We have equality now" no, we really don't.

If you haven't read his comments about Male supremacy then you haven't really studied what he says.

Male privilege and white privilege certainly exist. Jordan Peterson's argument against it that men (and whites) still have bad things happen to them or are negatively effected by society is actually incorrect. Having privilege doesn't mean that you can't be negatively effected in other ways, it just means that by luck of birth you are granted some benefits that others are not.

PreseaCombatir · 14/06/2019 13:23

I’m still waiting to k ow what side I’m on.
How many sides are there?

Zipee · 14/06/2019 13:24

The point about "sides" is that the langauge changes depending on your political point of view.

PreseaCombatir · 14/06/2019 13:25

Well yours does, yes, we’ve certainly seen that.

IsabellaLinton · 14/06/2019 13:28

If you haven't read his comments about Male supremacy then you haven't really studied what he says.

I was one of his students many moons ago! So I’ve certainly studied his work! I’d love you to point me to an example of his support for ‘male supremacy’ - just one! C’mon Zippee, rise to the challenge! Grin

Or else don’t make baseless accusations about people you disagree with, your choice.

Male privilege and white privilege certainly exist

In your worldview. Not in mine.

Zipee · 14/06/2019 13:29

You'll have to back that up

IsabellaLinton · 14/06/2019 13:29

The point about "sides" is that the langauge changes depending on your political point of view.

You apparently know which side I’m on, which one is it?

IsabellaLinton · 14/06/2019 13:32

You'll have to back that up

Ha! Who’s the hypocrite again? Wanting people to back up their arguments? Oh the irony... it’s delicious!

Grin
Zipee · 14/06/2019 13:35

So his remarks about the cutrent hierarchy being based on competence isn't making out then men are naturally superior ? Righto.

"Im your worldview not mine" So put an argument against the fact that they exist then?

Jordan Peterson is the right wing's ultimate appeal to authority btw, someone who they can cite as an intellectual to defend theor beliefs

He's wrong, as you are.

PreseaCombatir · 14/06/2019 13:36

I still want to know what side I’m on 🤷‍♀️

Zipee · 14/06/2019 13:39

I've backed up my arguments.

You haven't with yours.

The side points is now just getting into an argument about semantics. As i said, right wing terrorists, like Thomas Mair, do not get discussed in the same way as Islamic ones, especially by the right wing.

IsabellaLinton · 14/06/2019 13:40

So his remarks about the cutrent hierarchy being based on competence isn't making out then men are naturally superior ? Righto

No, of course it’s not! You’re inferring it because it suits you, but that’s not what he said! Has he at any point said men are naturally superior? No! Grin

Oh Zippee, you do make me laugh! Ignoring what people say and trying to decide what you think they’re saying!

IsabellaLinton · 14/06/2019 13:42

Me too, @PreseaCombatir, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Judder · 14/06/2019 13:44

The anti-Jo-Brand brigade are speaking out of ignorance. I listened to the BBC4 show- called Heresy (it's on catch up). It's really funny and I will become a regular listener. If you listen in context she is clearly just being ridiculous, and even says "I'm only joking" and goes on to say that throwing milkshakes is pathetic (ie nobody should throw anything).

Listen and judge for yourself
www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0005t9g

Justanotherlurker · 14/06/2019 13:49

They have removed it from catch up.

And there isn't really an anti-Jo Brand brigade, it is wanting the same stupid laws met out evenly.

The same comedians etc who are standing up for Jo Brands right to make jokes also did about the Nazi pug guy etc, what is being seen though is that some look for nuance and context and go "it's only a joke" which they ridiculed before are using the same language now.

Some are hoping that it will make some see a bit of common sense but as always people are just bunkering down and playing team sports.

PreseaCombatir · 14/06/2019 13:50

The side points is now just getting into an argument about semantics

No, it’s the cornerstone of your argument, that people are ‘allowed’ to do certain things based on what ‘side’ they’re own.
You also seem to be assigning ‘sides’, and therefore arguments and belief systems to people on this thread based on what ‘side’ you think they’re on.
But you can’t seem to explain what the ‘sides’ are, or how many there are, or whose on which one, or how you can tell

Zipee · 14/06/2019 13:55

You are hilarious, he made the remarks about male competence being the reason why there are imbalances in the number women of top jobs. In fact his entire theory about hierarchies and competence is utterly flawed, but its a way of defending a self attribution bias.
.

Zipee · 14/06/2019 14:02

I've explained the point about sides, a number of times. You just keep saying "I want to know what side I'm on" when onviously the "your side" point wasnt specifically you. Its a valid point, when right wing individuals comitt atrocities havibg been influenced by the right wing media/alt right no one makes remarks about the right wing being the problem, as Boris Johnson and others do about Islam. Even the langauge used to describe them is different

from the

IsabellaLinton · 14/06/2019 14:07

he made the remarks about male competence being the reason why there are imbalances in the number women of top jobs

That’s not backing up your point. Direct me to anywhere he’s said or written that men are naturally superior.

Oh wait. You can’t. Because he’s never said it.

Whether male or female, we want the most competent people in top jobs. The disparity is due to people’s choices.
