tell me your first dance song at your wedding

So its my wedding next week and I’m still in a dilemma over which song to have for our first dance. The one we have chosen so far is an old song and not a typical ‘first dance’ song. I think only older people will really know it as its not a really well known song (although my mum did say it was one of her dads favourites). Now I’m wondering whether to change it to something more well-known.

So...tell me your first dance song and why you chose it. And did you regret it or have a similar dilemma to me i.e. a not typical song? (first world problem i know - this is light-hearted!)

Basically I want you to help me get all romantic and misty-eyed for my wedding!

Tom Odell - Real Love

The spy who loved me.......Carly Simon.

Great song.

My best friend has Paul Weller - You do something to me. Great choice.

Niece was - Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud. She walked down the isle to an acoustic version of You Got a Friend in me from toy story, which I suggested and everyone loved. Lol.

Just a few ideas. It's hard to decide. Good luck.

It was nearly 30 years ago. We had "We've only just begun" by The Carpenters.

Insertwitticismhere · 10/06/2019 20:27

Better Together by Jack Johnson because we are!

wishfull888 · 10/06/2019 20:28

Nothing's real but love Rebecca Ferguson.
We listened to it the night we were engaged & knew our band would make a decent job of it.
My brother had Bryan Adams everything I do & everyone sang the words back to them, it was lovely :-)
It doesn't matter what it is, as long as you & your groom like it. Hope you enjoy your wedding x

SnuffleBadger · 10/06/2019 20:28

Just like Fred Astaire by James.....not a typical first dance song but we both love James and my DH chose it as the lyrics are like a love song from him to me

Piglet89 · 10/06/2019 20:28

“You’ve got a friend in me” from Toy Story!

We didn't have a first dance as we gifted it to my brother and SIL who didnt get one, we chose a song that both of them always described as their song. My DH sister had Perfect by Ed Sheeran for hers.

A lovely acoustic version of "La Vie en Rose" which combines both the original French and English Lyrics - very fitting for DH and I
