The whole dressing gown in the supermarket thing

It's bad enough to see people going to their corner shop in a dressing gown at 9pm. But it's a busy Sunday afternoon and I shit you not there's a woman strolling around our massive local supermarket (in fact shopping park) ... in a onesie.

What the fuck is wrong with people?!

Haven't seen one of these threads for ages!

It's weird but there was a kind of fad a couple of years ago wasn't there? Where people would go shopping in PJs/dressing gowns/onesies.

Hardly ever see it now though.

Sirzy · 09/06/2019 16:18

Yet they always have a full Face of makeup. Personally I would sacrifice the makeup for some proper clothes!

Ds (9) often goes out with a dressing gown over his clothes because he is autistic and it’s like a safety blanket for him. But I very much doubt it’s anything like that for the women who do it!

AlwaysCheddar · 09/06/2019 16:19

Skanks.

CreakingKnees · 09/06/2019 16:20

Lazy sloths.

HelloYouTwo · 09/06/2019 16:21

I saw a young woman in flip flops and Minnie Mouse dressing gown at the supermarket the other evening, about 9pm. She may or may not have had anything on underneath Shock she certainly had bare legs and dressing gowns tend to ride up at the back. It didn’t seem a very practical outfit to be going anywhere in. Surely chucking on track or bottoms and a T-shirt wouldn’t take more than 60 seconds.

mumofwantwomany · 09/06/2019 16:22

I really don't see the problem. Why do you care so much Confused it's not hurting anyone.

Buster72 · 09/06/2019 16:28

@mumofwantwomany

They are hurting my eyes so someone is harmed.

Honestly we have indoor and outdoor clothes for a reason, it takes all of 30 seconds to pull on trackies bottoms.

Pinkvoid · 09/06/2019 16:32

I don’t see it very often anymore (thankfully) but do remember the very weird phase of people leaving the house in onesies as if this were acceptable attire. I actually recall a student doing it once (not my student and in a college for reference), I did roll my eyes heavily.

madcatladyforever · 09/06/2019 16:35

Why the hell don't they just put on a tracksuit. Same thing as pyjamas comfort wise.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 09/06/2019 16:36

I personally don’t get it, presumably this is not the outfit they went to bed in as right now it’s too warm. So they get up change into the onsie and head into town? 🤔

Having said that I couldn’t give a toss what people where and am a bit puzzled why people get so worked up over it. There does seem to be a bit of a class war and since the current trend of politicians is to use the ‘divide and conquer’ mantra like it’s the only way to function I think we should all lighten the fuck up a bit.

TheJoxter · 09/06/2019 16:37

One of the dads at my son’s school does the school run in his PJs, usually a tiger onesie or a minions onesie. The car park is a good couple of minutes walk from the school and across a couple of roads and his DD is only Y2 so he walks her to school in the onesie and has done since she started reception! I think he works nights but would be just as quick to throw on tracksuit bottoms and a t shirt. I don’t understand it!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 09/06/2019 16:37

I had a dream last night that I went out in my PJ's and dressing gown Shock I was bloody horrified at myself when I woke up Grin

cranstonmanor · 09/06/2019 16:40

I wouldn't even set foot in my back garden in night clothes, it just feels like I don't respect myself enough if I would do that.

TrixieFranklin · 09/06/2019 16:41

Last week my last pair of maternity leggings broke and my other jeans and dresses that fit were in the wash so I went over to SILs in my pjs bottoms (but other wise fully dressed) and had to run into a petrol station to pay for fuel and was mortified! I don't think anyone noticed past my huge 37 week bump but I felt really embarrassed incase they did or I ran into any one I knew, do these people who do it on purpose in full blown dressing gowns / onesies / PJs have no shame!!Blush

pigsDOfly · 09/06/2019 16:44

I used to live in a student town a few years ago and got into a conversation with a young man - looked to be in his twenties - who stopped to admire my dog.

He was out shopping, as far as I could tell, and was dressed in a onesie with something like tiger stripes, a hood with ears, and sporting a tail.

Used to see people dressed like that all the time there but never see it in the town I live in now.

Shinyletsbebadguys · 09/06/2019 16:45

Meh I tend to roll my eyes and assume they are one of those people that will relate the story of them going there in their dressing gown attached to the one of the following phrases "I'm mad me ...." , " I just totally don't care how people see me ...." wjolsr simultaneously bringing attention to their "madcap" antics.

Disclaimer :excluding SEN etc

Leave em to it....if that's the only thing interesting let them have it the poor souls

Shinyletsbebadguys · 09/06/2019 16:45

Ergh that should have been ...the only interesting thing about them

ooooohbetty · 09/06/2019 16:47

I wondered how many posts it would take for someone to ask in typical MN fashion 'why does it bother you so much?' It bothers the OP because the people doing it are just lazy and it hurts my eyes too. Happens a lot round here. Not just in supermarkets but just walking around, usually with some kind of short parka type jacket over the top. Just have some dignity and get dressed to go outside ffs.

BlueJava · 09/06/2019 16:47

There were 2 teenagers in M&S the other week in their dressings gowns. I did mind at all about the dressings gowns but they were really grubby! Urgh!!

dimsum123 · 09/06/2019 16:47

I've seen people going shopping in their pyjamas! Not a onesie, no dressing gown over, just their obviously well worn pyjamas!

crazyasafox · 09/06/2019 16:48

Pics or it didn't happen.

Passthecherrycoke · 09/06/2019 16:48

Mental breakdown or learning disabilities aside, the general types who do this strike me as pure attention seeking

crazyasafox · 09/06/2019 16:49
Grin
dimsum123 · 09/06/2019 16:49

It doesn't bother me, in fact it brightens up my day because it makes me laugh, especially at the nonchalant way they walk around as if it's perfectly normal to do that!

ForalltheSaints · 09/06/2019 16:50

They should not be served. Or even allowed in. Hygiene reasons.
