I am fully supportive of the LGBTQ community and don't feel it is my position to question or undermine those who believe they were born in the wrong body.

And yet i see literally hundreds of intolerant posts on here and say nothing. Probably because I'm worried about being shouted down.

This is part of the problem isn't it? I should speak up.

Does anybody else feel like this or is it just me?

I think there was a study by harvard showing no difference between pre op and post op. At about 40% roughly the same as the jews in occupied territory.

How about we treat trans people as we do any other human being and not assume they are guilty until they actually do something wrong?

I think we do.

We treat men as men, whether they are trans or not. And expect male pattern violence at exactly the same rates. Yay lets do that.

I'm heartened to see how many posters are calling out the transphobia on MN.

All too often it is simply an echo chamber because people, understandably, don't want to draw the fire that speaking out will cause.

If any prisoner finds themselves in a position where they are able to sexually assault another prisoner, then things are very wrong at that prison.

All prisoners deserve to be protected from sexual assault whether they are male, female or non-binary.

The real issue is prison safety and the trans issue is a red herring.

But one persons statement of fact is another’s transphobia. One persons adherence to their religion is another’s homophobia. You can be empathetic with people without agreeing with them. Until we all agree that it’s perfectly ok to disagree someone will always feel that they are being persecuted

Men rape men. Men rape women. So men's prisons need to deal with the rape issue. No men should be in women's prisons.

I lost track of which post of mine you were actually referring to as I've posted quite a bit and you didn't quote. I'm not surprised that somebody who believes the penis can be a female organ is easily confused though.

The 'trans issue' is not a 'red herring' it is a tool for men to use to gain access to women.

Deeply disturbing that so many people cannot see this.

I have no issue with trans people.

I have every issue with the safety of women being out at risk. I have a massive issue with the erosion to women’s sports that’s already happening.

That isn’t transphobia.

Therapy for trans identifying people isn't like conversion therapy for gay people. Trans isn't a natural, innate state like being gay is. Gender dysphoria IS a mental health condition. It requires mental health treatment.

If the prison is properly run then everyone should be safe.

Even if a prison is 'properly run' cells are shared and if transwomen are allowed to be housed in women's prisons they will be locked in cells with women. Ergo at risk of rape.

If an anorexic teenager tells her doctor that she believes she is fat, does the doctor say 'ok, from now on we'll say you are fat, we'll make sure that everyone calls you fat. That will make you feel better'. Or does the doctor say 'let's get you some help for that'.

Incarcerating prisoners with male biology in what were previously women’s prisons increases safety risks to women prisoners, and women who work in prisons.

Your anorexia comparison would only work if you think all trans people need help and need to be fixed.....

The problem is men.

Anything that makes it easier for men to batter down womens and girls boundaries they jump on and ride like a bucking bronco.

Which is why so many lefty men are supporting this, not because they like penis in a skirt, but because it is a great way of demonising those uppity women who just won't let them do what they want.

In countries where this is enshrined in law, never to question the 'Trans People', they are removing girls breasts at aged 12.

Again, if you cannot see this for what it is, which is a male rights movement, then really, there is no hope.

I always think its better phrased as its the men and women getting raped by seriously sick animals. These animals attack the 99% of us, they dont care if you're a man or a woman they are just sick "humans" doing bad things to men and women.

Plenty of transwomen seem to like their penises very much, only now they are called lady dick.

What you actually mean is that some trans people learn to accept the genitals they have and decide not risk health complications and the potential loss of sexual function for a medically unnecessary surgery, because tolerance for trans people and a broader understanding of the way gender and biology intersect has enabled them to make peace with keeping the genitals they were born with.

But by all means, you should continue to insist that people have invasive, dangerous and complicated surgery before you will consider them acceptably trans. The joke is on them anyway - there’s nothing they could do to their bodies that would actually satisfy you.
