To put up and shut up with the transphobia on here?

thetonsillolith · 08/06/2019 17:18

I am fully supportive of the LGBTQ community and don't feel it is my position to question or undermine those who believe they were born in the wrong body.

And yet i see literally hundreds of intolerant posts on here and say nothing. Probably because I'm worried about being shouted down.

This is part of the problem isn't it? I should speak up.

Does anybody else feel like this or is it just me?

It always does strike me as odd on here OP as this is usually such a left wing website generally and the view on transsexuals is uniquely definitely right wing... it really does stand out. I can see both sides from a feminist and pro transsexual point of view but there are lots of transphobic comments.

sackrifice · 08/06/2019 22:49

Right wing lol.

isabellerossignol · 08/06/2019 22:50

What kind of crazy world are we living in where stating a biological fact is considered right wing?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 08/06/2019 22:50

on transsexuals is uniquely definitely right wing

What now

Thats a new one

TheClitterati · 08/06/2019 22:53

@thetonsillolith I'd love to know if you think gay men who don't date TransMen are transphobic or not?

How do you support both homoSEXuals right to have same sex relationship and believe the concept that TWAW?

Do you believe Bruce Jenner was actually a woman when he won Olympic gold?

sackrifice · 08/06/2019 22:54

If only these open minded criers of 'transphobia' could articulate the basis on which they believe that a man has changed into a woman and educate us 'closed mind/right wingers' on how it happens and at what point the transition has happened enough to consider said man, a woman.

If only they had some words to explain it, all this could be put to bed.

TheClitterati · 08/06/2019 22:55

When you don't have facts and a well backed up argument just throw insults. Right wing LOL

ReapersHowler · 08/06/2019 22:56

Kiwifarms isn't a place I wish to spend time. Disagreeing there will get you doxxed and given death threats.

ReapersHowler · 08/06/2019 22:59

Sackrifice You've already proven yourself a petty transphobic person. No matter what anyone says it won't be good enough for you. 100 years ago you would have been the person saying Gay people are wrong too. The futures changing, younger generations are more accepting of letting people be who they want to be. In 30 years time you'll just be another racist homophobic transphobic old person who can't understand why we let people exist when you disagree with their lifestyle.

LimeKiwi · 08/06/2019 23:02

No matter what anyone says it won't be good enough for you

Exactly.

Jarnsaxa · 08/06/2019 23:04

But Reaper, gay people are attracted to their same sex. We can define homosexuality what makes a transwoman a woman?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 08/06/2019 23:04

Im sure sackrifice doesn’t give a shiny shit and given the topic is transphobia and the bar for that is set incredibly low im sure she doesnt care that your are calling her a transphobe

But racist and homophobic is just insults and personal attacks for no reason whatsoever

CodenameVillanelle · 08/06/2019 23:05

It's not right wing to recognise facts and acknowledge material reality.
That's the problem with this whole TWAW nonsense. It's accepted as the 'left wing, right on, progressive' perspective so people tie themselves in knots trying to believe it because they don't want to be associated with supposed illiberal, anti-socialist views.
In fact, understanding biology is neither left nor right wing, and understanding class analysis and structural oppression is very much left wing, rooted as it is in Marxist theory and socialism. Somehow though the 'left' still clings to the TWAW line as being the 'proper left wing' position and because it's basically an indefensible position, they resort to ad hominems and aspersions to avoid facing their cognitive dissonance.

LimeKiwi · 08/06/2019 23:06

Not sure why people are so surprised about somebody saying right wing?
I've heard this before.
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it Trump who's refusing to let transpeople serve in the Army as one example?
As I said, feel free to correct me if not.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 08/06/2019 23:07

codename

Yes, its lazy thinking

CantspellWontspell · 08/06/2019 23:08

No matter what anyone says it won't be good enough for you

Yeah, could be, could be... still waiting for an actual answer to "Matches what?" though, so...

isabellerossignol · 08/06/2019 23:08

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it Trump who's refusing to let transpeople serve in the Army as one example?

I don't see the connection between this and women standing up for their privacy and protection.

It's pretty clear that Trump isn't a believer in women's rights, so why are his actions being conflated with feminism?

Jarnsaxa · 08/06/2019 23:09

So any one who says no to anything a transpersonal requests or demands is right wing and a transphobe. Is that it? We're only good women if we do whatever we're told?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 08/06/2019 23:10

It's pretty clear that Trump isn't a believer in women's rights, so why are his actions being conflated with feminism?

Exactly

TheClitterati · 08/06/2019 23:11

So is radical feminism now right wing?
Biology is right wing?
Thought is right wing?
Grin

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 08/06/2019 23:12

Thought is right wing?

Weeeellllll

Jarnsaxa · 08/06/2019 23:12

If women have to accommodate and obey, why don't transwomen?

MolyHolyGuacamole · 08/06/2019 23:12

OP 100% agree with you. The one thing I hate about MN. And just by briefly glancing at the comments, you have proven yourself right Confused

TheClitterati · 08/06/2019 23:13

@MolyHolyGuacamole examples please?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 08/06/2019 23:14

OP 100% agree with you. The one thing I hate about MN. And just by briefly glancing at the comments, you have proven yourself right

Yes, she should definitely speak up

Other people seem to be speaking up and/or reporting
