To put up and shut up with the transphobia on here?

I am fully supportive of the LGBTQ community and don't feel it is my position to question or undermine those who believe they were born in the wrong body.

And yet i see literally hundreds of intolerant posts on here and say nothing. Probably because I'm worried about being shouted down.

This is part of the problem isn't it? I should speak up.

Does anybody else feel like this or is it just me?

Meanwhile, the rest of the internet has its own opinion

I think kiwifarms and reddit are just pleased mumsnet are taking the fall

Butchyrestingface · 08/06/2019 20:18

Meanwhile, the rest of the internet has its own opinion:
www.vice.com/amp/en_us/article/a3mn9k/mumsnet-uk-mom-forum-terf-transphobia-feminism

And you thought Vice is at all representative or the voice of reason on this subject? Grin

LimeKiwi · 08/06/2019 20:21

Aggressive? Has someone threatened you?

I get what the poster means. It does take a certain amount of balls (no pun intended) to post on there knowing you're the only dissenting voice and to put up with the inevitable incoming personal onslaught.

KittensinaBlender · 08/06/2019 20:23

Meanwhile, the rest of the internet has its own opinion

One article on a singular website is the "rest of the internet"?

Careful you don't pull something with that overreach, there.

LimeKiwi · 08/06/2019 20:23

*They want to be treated as women, don't they? That's what it's like."
That's not true for everyone though.

suze108 · 08/06/2019 20:25

Many of the arguments here, reduced to their essentials, are of the form 'I don't believe...."

KittensinaBlender · 08/06/2019 20:25

put up with the inevitable incoming personal onslaught

Challenging opinions is not a "personal onslaught" - pack it in.

butteryellow · 08/06/2019 20:28

Look it's mumsnet. We have a pretty good idea of where babies come from. These makes us just a tad resistant to the idea that man or woman is a feeling in someone's head rather than a biological reality.

That's not transphobia. That's just reality.

suze108 · 08/06/2019 20:28

“It’s all about biological essentialism which is at the heart of reinvigorated radical feminism. When you believe that what makes a woman is only her biology, the result is a policing of womanhood and a very narrow academic and ideological perspective of what feminism and gender should be.”

DuploTower · 08/06/2019 20:29

Limekiwi, if you don't like being here - there are other forums on parenting websites where any hint of dissent against trans ideology will not be tolerated. Perhaps you would feel more comfortable there.

Chickenwing · 08/06/2019 20:29

I agree that the "feminists" on mumsnet are often transphobic. They don't seem to realise that feminism is about equal rights for all, not being pro women.

DecomposingComposers · 08/06/2019 20:30

ScrumpyBetty

Equally no one has answered my questions either. Why do I have to answer your questions whilst you ignore mine?

With regards to the safety issue - I don't know. It isn't as simple as sex segregation though.

Equally simply segregating on sex alone will result in people outwardly appearing male being in women's spaces. How will that affect women?

SmileEachDay · 08/06/2019 20:30

Yep. It’s the “TERFs” who are aggressive for sure:

To put up and shut up with the transphobia on here?
KittensinaBlender · 08/06/2019 20:31

Whomever you are quoting does not understand what biological essentialism means.

ScrumpyBetty · 08/06/2019 20:31

suze108 if you don't define a woman by biology, how do you define one?

EmperorBallpitine · 08/06/2019 20:31

Does my head in, looking at all the transwomen I've met, all dolled up in makeup and frilly shit, while here I am in my jeans trying to make sure my children are growing up in a world where they can still compete fairly in sport, being told I'm the one with a narrow idea of what constitutes a woman.

SmileEachDay · 08/06/2019 20:32

Um. Feminism is about freeing women worldwide from oppression. When that is nailed, we can start talking about equality.
🤷🏻‍♀️

LimeKiwi · 08/06/2019 20:33

LimeKiwi if you don't like being here

I do though, I've been active here for years.
Even though it's slowly got more intolerant, I'm not going anywhere.
Soz

KittensinaBlender · 08/06/2019 20:35

They don't seem to realise that feminism is about equal rights for all, not being pro women.

Egalitarianism is about equal rights for all. Feminism is exclusively about females... it's there in the word. Words have meanings, people!!

LimeKiwi · 08/06/2019 20:35

Why can't they want to doll themselves to in "make up and frilly shit?"
Dolling yourself up in make up and frilly shit or wearing jeans are both perfectly valid.

LimeKiwi · 08/06/2019 20:35

up in not to in, duh

Absolutepowercorrupts · 08/06/2019 20:36

LimeKiwi
You are posting inflammatory statements yet again. You assert that you need balls to post with dissenting opinions but you just plop in and out of a thread with ridiculous statements. You never back up your beliefs with any reasons why you believe what you believe. When you are asked questions you don't answer. I get that you don't need to answer a random internet stranger's question but you never engage. Ffs I don't even know why I'm bothering 🤷‍♀️

KittensinaBlender · 08/06/2019 20:38

Correct. It is just meaningless with regards to what sex you are which remains static regardless of presentation.

DuploTower · 08/06/2019 20:38

What do you mean by intolerant?

DecomposingComposers · 08/06/2019 20:38

Oh my word, pot, kettle and black spring to mind.
