I remembered the name: Singing Together

Hippee · 07/06/2019 23:06

We didn't have this one! We must have had a Yorkshire version, because my favourite hymn was "Hills of the North rejoice", which I chose to have at my wedding - it was really appropriate, because we had guests from all over the world, so the lines "Lo, from the North they come, From East and West and South" were ideal. Now I have got an earworm.

@londonrach - I’ve just started randomly singing hymns to him now.

This is fab.

LJS79 · 07/06/2019 23:09

@Spainintherain my children sing Autumn Days at school! They love it 😊

LJS79 · 07/06/2019 23:10

He died to save us all"

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/06/2019 23:10

It's not a CD but some are here
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05f8qq7
Not sure if there'll be others on BBC site?

vdbfamily · 07/06/2019 23:11

Everyone I say cross over the road to any of my kids I sing that song!
We used to sing a song that went something like this
Spring is coming, spring is coming, birdies build your nest.
Weave together fur and feather and do po your best.
After that we had to say something like
Holdria holdria holdria cuckoo
Holdria holdria holdria cuckoo
Holdria holdria holdria cuckoo
Holdria holdria hol.

This was my favourite and I have not found anyone else who remembers it. I found it on YouTube to a different tune and without the cuckoo bit!!

vdbfamily · 07/06/2019 23:12

Do ooo, not do po!!

youngestisapsycho · 07/06/2019 23:12

‘Stand up, clap hands, shout thank you Lord, thank you for the world we’re in!’

HariboLectar · 07/06/2019 23:12

Oooh oooh "Lord of all hope fulness, Lord of all joy"
I'm going to have to get this book 💜

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/06/2019 23:13

I have just sung my way through this thread so loudly that DS has come downstairs to ask me if I have been drinking 😊
So many happy memories of joyous singing.
I teach at a c of E high school and the kids love singing (in Year 7,8 and 11!)

londonrach · 07/06/2019 23:13

@wax. You missing out! Any you remember

Vio112 · 07/06/2019 23:13

Love these memories 😁all coming flooding back. I reckon there's going to be a sudden rush on online sales of come and praise! Just bought mine, £2 something! Bargain! I'll be bashing them out on the piano next week for sure 😂

BurntSausage · 07/06/2019 23:15

Light Up The Fire!

🎵SO LIGHT UP THE FIRE, LET THE FLAME BURN! OPEN THE DOOR, LET JESUS RETURN!🎵

When I type in all caps that’s me singing in my verging-on-shouting voice that I perfected in primary school.

kateandme · 07/06/2019 23:16

WarmestRegards amazon

HariboLectar · 07/06/2019 23:17

@Vio112 I just paid a fiver for the complete one, not sure if I feel ripped off or I'm just pleased I've got one on it's way 😂

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 23:17

Lovely OP! Great thread. Haven't RTFT as too excited to post my favourites, which were: Our God Reigns (Pope John Paul's favourite hymn, we were told), Down By The Riverside and my all time fave, Bring Flowers of the Rarest. If Christmas is included, then Go Tell It On The Mountain would have to be up there.

Brilliant songs. My DC's assemblies just don't cut it, they always have the same song and it's meh.

In my excitement I’d forgotten Colours I’d Day and Light Up The Fire were the same song 🤣

LJS79 · 07/06/2019 23:22

This thread is fab!! So many memories. It's amazing we can still remember the words. I loved "oh Jesus I have promised" and "when a knight won his spurs"
My children go to the local C of E school and sing most days. They are all encouraged to sing and although only a smallish school They sound lovely singing all together.
Might have to gift them a copy of the praise book! Get them singing old favourites.
