I loved Autumn Days! And someone has mentioned 'O Jesus I have promised' which I think was 144?

We had hymn practice every Friday morning and those with birthdays that week got to go up and choose the last hymn. You could choose anything apart from 144! As otherwise we'd have had it every week! We got to sing it in the last day of term.

The apples are ripe, the plums are red, broad beans are sleeping in a blanket bed! Does it have that one? Where can I get this book?!

titsmcgee · 07/06/2019 22:52

CoolCarrie · 07/06/2019 22:54

Shalom my friend, shalom my friend, shalom, shalom.
The peace of Christ I give you today, shalom, shalom!

Wannabeyorkshirelass · 07/06/2019 22:54

In my school it was...

SING LASAGNE
SING LASAGNE
SING SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE FOR TEA

Oh how witty we were.

One more step used to make my mum cry as they sang it at the end of primary school. My son sang it when he left infants, too, it was so sweet and lovely! Don't think my daughter will sing it when she leaves as they have a modern, fancy pants new fangled teacher. Boo hiss.

I used to absolutely love come and praise. I remember the words to so many of the sounds. Autumn Days (no.4) was my absolute favourite. In top Juniors I had the musical version and used to play my recorder in assembly. Such lovely memories.

glasshalf · 07/06/2019 22:54

Oh my word i forgot about these I am about to listen to them Grin

Geraniumpink · 07/06/2019 22:54

Blankety bed, lotusbell. It adds extra cuteness.

londonrach · 07/06/2019 22:55

Can someone link autumn days as not ringing bells for me

ThomasinaandSeptimus · 07/06/2019 22:55

Aww this makes my heart squeeze, brings back memories of being all fresh faced and enthusiastic singing in assembly then later playing the recorder to them all!

Withington · 07/06/2019 22:56

Was "make me a channel of your peace" one? "Oh master grant that I may never seek, so much to be consoled as to to con-soooooo-al..."

I've found my people!

Think of a world without any flowers...... Absolute classic! I had a huge crush on the boy who was in charge of the OHP and I can still remember what he smelt like Blush

SpaceDinosaur · 07/06/2019 23:02

DH and I had songs from this book as the hymns at our church wedding 😁

MrsSiba · 07/06/2019 23:02

Yes withington it was. I mentioned up thread as it is a personal fave and one I still sing today.

AnneElliott · 07/06/2019 23:02

I've just listened to the colours of the day, and I remember that too!

I do think DS missed out somewhat going to a Catholic school - CofE has by far the best hymns!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 07/06/2019 23:02

Funny how we can all remember these songs so well 35 years later!

Does anyone also remember singing along to a Radio singing programme for schools, possibly on a Friday morning? The lyrics were in a little pamphlet and there was a new one every term or year (can’t remember). I kept one of them which had local folk songs from around the world.

londonrach · 07/06/2019 23:02

@since. No im doing the same
