Just that really. I don't mean to be goady I've just noticed that when it comes up here, people seem more against it than other social circles I'm familiar with. I think I'm a bit out of the loop as to what the issue is.

OP posts:
CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/06/2019 17:40

But still no attempt at answering questions, I note.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/06/2019 17:41

Who me? What question?

nauticant · 06/06/2019 17:45

As in Buck looks very much like a man and Karen looks very much like a woman.
You honestly wouldn't tell.

That's untrue. The women stuck in prison with rapist White were able to tell very easily that White was a man when they were being sexually assaulted by him. Women encountering Buck Angel and not being sexually assaulted could well be completely unaware.

LimeKiwi · 06/06/2019 17:45

I would imagine that Buck would be perfectly happy and safe in the men’s pool.

So on that basis then, if Buck's safe in the men's pool, how come transwomen in the ladies pose such a threat?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/06/2019 17:46

Sorry, no, not you Fekko Smile

I asked LK to answer some questions honestly. And they responded with another misdirection!!

LimeKiwi · 06/06/2019 17:46

Ladies or pools, before somebody says I'm fixating on toilets - either the ladies toilets or the ladies pool.

Datun · 06/06/2019 17:47

So on that basis then, if Buck's safe in the men's pool, how come transwomen in the ladies pose such a threat?

Because they are immediately demonstrating an instant violation of women's boundaries.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/06/2019 17:47

I had forgotten how earnestly disingenuous you can be, LimeKiwi. That doesn't even warrant an answer!!!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/06/2019 17:48

... at risk of pandering

Informed consent

LimeKiwi · 06/06/2019 17:52

I had forgotten how earnestly disingenuous you can be, LimeKiwi

Confused It was an honest question, why is it automatically disingenuous if you don't like the question? Then I get accused of question dodging when others are doing the exact same lol

Yes, men can be violent, yes the crime stats show this etc.
All transwomen stay in the blokes on the back of this is something that not everyone wants though.
Which is where the argument will keep going on forever.

Lumene · 06/06/2019 17:52

What specifically are you referring to OP? I haven’t seen anything like this at all personally.

LimeKiwi · 06/06/2019 17:55

Because they are immediately demonstrating an instant violation of women's boundaries

OK then, fair enough, I can see that point more.
Seeing as it's usually "men are violent, what about the crime stats" argument like upthread I was just wondering what the problem was if people are in fact safe in the men's pool.

nauticant · 06/06/2019 18:02

It is coming across as "well, Buck Angel is unlikely to assault women so we must assume that women will be safe with the single-sex spaces open to the Karen Whites, the Jonathan Yanvis, the Stefonknees, the Jess Bradleys, the Cathy Brennans (the violent male one, not the female one), and the rest.

As CuriousaboutSamphire said, it's such warped thinking you have to wonder about spending time responding to stuff like this.

Outofinspiration · 06/06/2019 18:07

LimeKiwi can you please lay out, nice and clearly, why you believe that men should be allowed into women's areas, based on nothing other that how those men feel inside? And why those feelings trump the feelings of women who don't want males in their spaces.

Thanks in advance.

BertrandRussell · 06/06/2019 18:14

“Seeing as it's usually "men are violent, what about the crime stats"”

You are completely misunderstanding the issue with crime stats. Happy to explain it to you.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 06/06/2019 18:15

I really wouldn't bother responding

Between the outright lies and the disingenuous ‘what me’ innocence

Its pointless and fills the thread up with bollocks

LimeKiwi · 06/06/2019 18:20

the disingenuous ‘what me’ innocence

Think what you like, I don't care. I'm posting as me, as I think and just trying to learn more.
Which I presume a lot of people are. Not trying to be disingeneous at all.

nauticant · 06/06/2019 18:21

You're right Rufus. I think they've realised this thread might be getting too much attention in AIBU, and maybe causing people to reflect on this problem, and so it's best to shit the thread up with rubbish. Make it unreadable so people stop bothering with it.

LimeKiwi · 06/06/2019 18:22

LimeKiwi can you please lay out, nice and clearly, why you believe that men should be allowed into women's areas, based on nothing other that how those men feel inside

I don't think any man should just be able to walk in off the streets into the ladies/the pool/the ladies changing room etc.
I don''t have a problem with transwomen using them though.
Hope that helps.

BertrandRussell · 06/06/2019 18:25

“I don''t have a problem with transwomen using them though.

Is a transwomen anyone who says that’s what they are? Are you happy with a similar process for admission to women’s sport and to all other women only spaces?

dancingcamper · 06/06/2019 18:29

So what's the difference between a transwoman and a man?

How can I tell?

Carouselfish · 06/06/2019 18:39

Pro fact. You can't change sex with operations and hormones any more than you can grow younger with operations and hormones. Mentally ill people and confused teens are being sold an unreality.
Also, I resent the idea that if you're not masculine enough/don't conform to masculine stereotypes then you must be in the 'wrong body', equally of you're not feminine enough/don't conform to feminine stereotypes you're in the wrong body. Madness, you're still a man or a woman, whichever you biologically are, you define the qualities of that sex.
I worry about the implications of 'whatever you imagine yourself to be, you are' especially when it starts influencing laws. Common sense being ignored in favour of not hurting feelings.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/06/2019 19:02

If you could change sex at the snip of a button (sorry wasn’t sure where I was going with that one) then that would surely prove that sex is just a physical body thing and nothing to do with ladyfeelz?

Thesuzle · 06/06/2019 19:07

Absolutely what Dexymidnight said up thread

sackrifice · 06/06/2019 19:22

It doesn't help as what is the difference between the two?

If you are totally unable to explain the difference then you cannot state that you are ok with one thing and simultaneously not ok with the exact same thing.

That's nuts.
