Is Donald Trump ill? Otherwise what would explain such imbecility?

Has he missed some 💊 on his international flight? Who visits someone and promptly pisses on the doorstep? His comments about Sadiq Khan are beyond disgraceful. Disgusting creature.

Oh its not just you. - And I do appreciate you clarified that you meant in this particular spat - all over SM, people genuinely think they are as bad as each other.

They do tend to be the people who think Trump is here to give us the most fabulous trade deals though, so maybe they are just ...not very sensible.

Helmetbymidnight · 03/06/2019 14:33

Also why do you keep bringing up what Trump said in other instances

Why not? People are bringing up things Khan has done which are irrelevant to Trump - and others have brought up other things Trump have done - I don't get why I shouldn't either...

fancynancyclancy · 03/06/2019 14:37

DT is an a-hole, however I think it’s better not to engage with him as he & his fan base thrive of that rubbish.

On a separate note I agree with this,
I was thrilled when he was given the role, and find him pleasant enough, I see his term as Mayor as abysmal with no legacy whatsoever. He’s fallen very short on his housing pledges but I was very disappointed in his lack of presence & engagement with the knife crime issue.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/06/2019 14:44

Ii only brought up why I think Khan is not a good mayor because another poster asked me.

I’m not connecting this to the Trump -Khan feud.

Neolara · 03/06/2019 14:51

This is the first thread I've read on MN where I've wondered if some of the posters are being paid to support a political viewpoint. There seems to be a lot of defending the indefensible. It's quite unlike most MN threads.

Helmetbymidnight · 03/06/2019 14:53

Well, tell all the other people to stop doing it then too. Grin

Lweji · 03/06/2019 14:54

This is the first thread I've read on MN where I've wondered if some of the posters are being paid to support a political viewpoint.

It's not the first for me. But this one is blatant.

limitedperiodonly · 03/06/2019 14:54

I’m disgusted that people are detracting from this commemoration by bickering and sniping. It’s pathetic. It’s shameful. We’re ungrateful and unworthy.

Ooh, IsabellaLinton is invoking the memory of our war dead to tell us all to shut up. There's always one.

My dad was also at D-Day. A little-known fact is that it was named after him because his name began with D and it was his birthday. That's what he told me and I'm sticking with it Grin. As a fibber my dad has nothing on Trump.

My dad didn't talk about it much - except to say he'd had better birthdays since. He's long dead but I bet he wouldn't have liked Trump and definitely wouldn't have liked Isabella invoking his bravery and suggesting that people who oppose Trump are somehow disrespecting the D-Day commemoration.

The one has nothing to do with the other.

The whole point of commemorating D-Day is to remember that the people of many countries came together, whether on the battlefield or at home, to defeat Fascism in any way they could.

Lweji · 03/06/2019 14:56

I think it's almost insulting that Trump is in the UK to commemorate freeing Europe from fascists.

Anoni · 03/06/2019 15:04

Men and women fought against nazi germany, to stop a facist regime taking over europe and possibly the world and in the process butchering minority groups and religions they didn't agree with.

So damn trump should be protested and i frankly don't give a shit if americans feelings are hurt, you elected this prick, face the consequences of doing so.
He has called for a ban on muslims, attacked immigrants legally in this country, is currently holding immigrants in detention centres that are classed as standing room only by his own department of homeland security, attacked the media for disagreeing with him, sided with white supremacists, withdrew america from international agreements, threatened iran, threatened north korea, bashed a war hero, has admitted sexually assaulting women, has bankrupted and lost money running nearly all his businesses, been accused of colluding with russians to rig an election, gerrymandered, need i go on?

Trump doesn't deserve respect just because of his position. No one does. No one should not be called out just because of who they're. People didn't call out sexual assaulters because they were famous and they feared attack and backlash, so lets not stand aside as a poor excuse of a man pretends to give a shit about d day and the soldiers who gave their lives for freedom, when all he really cares about is money, power and his ego.

longwayoff · 03/06/2019 15:04

Couldnt agree more Lweji, an absolute insult to all those soldiers who didnt have a rich dad to weasel them out of it, an insult to all prisoners of war in view of what the said of John McCain, to see him returning the salute to guard of honour at Stansted was risible. Atrocious.

I believe him! Grin

Thallo · 03/06/2019 15:08

Love this bit of gentle shade (from the Washington Post I hasten to add, so presumably they’re permitted) ‘Buckingham Palace is reportedly unable to host the Trumps because of ongoing renovation work that began in 2016. According to the official royal website, Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms, including 52 “Royal and guest bedrooms.’

CactusKitty · 03/06/2019 15:13

Totally agree with Anoni.

Invoking D-Day to justify pandering to a megalomaniac totally ignores what all those brave soldiers fought and died for and it's an insult to their memory.

limitedperiodonly · 03/06/2019 15:19

Thanks Thallo. I always trusted my dad. And also for that little jibe from the Washington Post. I was watching the TV when Trump arrived and they kept going on about how he couldn't stay at Buckingham Palace because they've got the builders in. That's just such a lame excuse Grin

I don't know whether you can catch it but Simon Schama's contempt about Trump was withering and witty on the BBC as POTUS landed in the Queen's back garden. The presenter, Joanna Gosling, didn't know what to say but wasn't going to stop him.

This is not a link to his Twitter because he seems to have modestly not put up the link on his own account - which is not something Trump would do. But it says all I want to say

Simon Schama fan

Messed up the link

Thallo · 03/06/2019 15:36

I follow Simon Schama on Twitter and he does not hold back with his scorn for the Trump administration (and for Brexit)! Have just watched clips of him on Sky News he makes the very good point that a trade deal isn’t even up to Trump. Congress can block it and they will block it (esp. if the large and influential Irish American contingent is unhappy.)

Lweji · 03/06/2019 15:36

Buckingham Palace is reportedly unable to host the Trumps because of ongoing renovation work that began in 2016

Which may end either in 2020 or 2024?
I suspect it's Trump who doesn't want to stay because the accommodation doesn't suit his standards (not enough gold paint).

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/06/2019 15:39

Yes, it is a fucking insult to call the President of the United States and leader of the free world a fascist. Pretty fucking obviously it is an insult.

It's not an insult if it's true.

And it IS true.

"Leader of the free world" my arse!

Lweji · 03/06/2019 15:41

He is an insult to the Presidency by himself.

limitedperiodonly · 03/06/2019 15:45

it is a fucking insult to call the President of the United States and leader of the free world a fascist. Pretty fucking obviously it is an insult.

If the MAGA cap fits...

Helmetbymidnight · 03/06/2019 15:50

simon schama is most probably an anti semite if he objects to Trump, eh gth1234

Hmm
Dewdew · 03/06/2019 15:51

Yeah, America insulted himself by electing that man.

This Trump-Khan feud dates back to Khan calling Trump's views on Muslims 'ignorant'. Khan was not alone, politicians of all affiliations condemned Trump.

There was only one that Trump retaliated against though. It's almost as if the man who tried to ban Muslims from his country doesn't like Muslims.

And the attacks he made on Khan directly after the terror attacks in London were absolutely vile. Any Brit that supports that, regardless of whether they much care for Khan, ought to take a long hard look at themselves.

MaxNormal · 03/06/2019 15:53

@Gth1234 can I have some of your crack please?
