To be delighted That Leave Have Lost

I know it looks as if Brexit have won but in every single case, if you add up all the votes secured by the other parties then together they have more votes than Brexit. That means more people want to remain in Europe than Leave.

"This result has shown that people are trying to polish a turd and set up narrative"

Right back atcha 😂

Suiker you're not the OP are you?!! 🤣

Are you from the Brexist school of spelling?

Suiker · 27/05/2019 18:48

No, why? It’s not a mathematical argument that no government should be considering no deal

shartsi · 27/05/2019 18:50

Now that remain has won there is no need for Ken Clarke to attend parliament

BlueJag · 27/05/2019 18:56

@woman19 I know how to add even if my dyslexia gets on the way of my spelling sometimes.

Justanotherlurker · 27/05/2019 18:56

Right back atcha 😂

I'm not trying to start a narrative, its like the last GE where Labour actually won the election, I'm a remainer and shock horror a conservative voter, but I can see that a party that was started 5 weeks ago gaining 29 seats and becoming the largest single party in europe as not showing how public opinion has changed, its the same shit show it was the day after the referendum.

The ardent remainers have had another 3 years to call leavers thick and racist and if early suggestions are true that 13% of labour supporters switched to the brexit party it says more about the "left" than it does about the shit show of the current government getting a kicking.

Diane Abbott found that her diabetes got in the way of her number recall.

Justanotherlurker · 27/05/2019 19:04

No, why? It’s not a mathematical argument that no government should be considering no deal

Its the same mathematical argument that shows a Corbyn government would also have dire effects on the economy but that's somewhat glossed over as propaganda.

Justanotherlurker · 27/05/2019 19:10

Diane Abbott found that her diabetes got in the way of her number recall.

Number recall isn't the issue when people point out her non mathematical skills.

ForalltheSaints · 27/05/2019 19:10

The main losers of the EU vote in the UK are the Tories, who could not even get 5% of the electorate to support them.

BlueJag · 27/05/2019 19:11

@woman19 I'm sorry I didn't understand that remainders are always right even when they are wrong. I can tell you are quite a fan of Dianne Abbott. I hope she never gets to be the chancellor of the exchequer.

Justanotherlurker · 27/05/2019 19:17

The main losers of the EU vote in the UK are the Tories, who could not even get 5% of the electorate to support them.

The tories where always going to get a kicking, the main losers in this election is the two established parties, lib dems being forgiven on the Uni fees debacle, greens getting votes despite their anti gender critical issue, there are no obvious losers or winners in this, people are trying to polish a turd to make themselves on the "correct" side.

GreyofSunshine · 27/05/2019 19:23

It's no secret that there are a small proportion of Labour voters and MPs that are pro-Leave. I'm. It sure that 13% of their voters voting for the Brexit Party says much. Brexit was never solely on left/right, Labour/Tory lines.

I agree with you that it's hard to pick winners out of yesterday's vote (in a Leave/Remain context). I'd say that there are obvious winners and losers among the parties though (Torries, Labour and UKIP being the losers).

Really is long past time for Corbyn to go.

Gertie75 · 27/05/2019 19:24

Are you from the Brexist school of spelling?

Oh the irony.

Justanotherlurker · 27/05/2019 19:32

It's no secret that there are a small proportion of Labour voters and MPs that are pro-Leave.

Thing is it's not a small proportion of labour voters, that's why the party is consistently sitting on the fence and can't gain in the polls when with the current shit show of a government.

The majority of labour stronghold constituents voted to leave, its why the ^thick, uneducated, racist, easily led" rhetoric is going to come back and bite them in arse in future.

To try and downplay it as a minority by using stats based on members is why Labour is in the shit show it is.

BlueJag · 27/05/2019 19:33

@Gertie75 I couldn't believe it either Grin

Justanotherlurker · 27/05/2019 19:36

Brexit was never solely on left/right, Labour/Tory lines.

Just to add, I agree it wasn't but the "intelligent, educated remainer" has generally gone down this route, especially on MN, it unironically shows that having a degree does not correlate to nuance of politics, its just become team sports now.

Cornishclio · 27/05/2019 19:38

I voted remain in the 2016 referendum and voted Change UK on Thursday in the EU elections. I wish the remain parties had got their act together and agreed between Lib Dems, Green and Change UK how to campaign and get people to vote to inflict maximum damage on Farage and his newly formed Brexit party. I don't think the result is in anyway a success for anyone wanting to remain. Labour are completely unclear and Conservatives are split. Whatever anyone says about Farage and I cannot stand the man he fought a good campaign and Thursday night was a success for him and an improvement for the Lib Dems but for everyone else it was a dreadful result.

Two big points though. Only 37% turnout and Brexit party, Change UK and UKIP to a certain extent are all one issue parties. Labour and Conservative are still aiming for a compromise and there is no compromise to make. You either want to be in EU or out. Conservative right wingers should move to UKIP or Brexit and Labour have to make their mind up what they want to happen. I am guessing they want a soft Brexit but is there such a thing? Voter turnout is another issue and to be honest I am sick and tired of the politics of this too so can understand the voter apathy that is out there. I think a GE would be a different issue but maybe not as so many leave voters are now blinkered and only want to leave and don't seem to care what else is happening in the country. We are a country split and I cannot see what can unite us now.

woman19 · 27/05/2019 19:47

Did you graduated from Dianne Abbott school of maths

Diane Abbott with the 35 000 majority?

Looks like there's a confirmatory vote on the way; off to work on it.
(you'll need more than 5m votes, Wink)

Toodle Pip. Smile

Justanotherlurker · 27/05/2019 19:51

Diane Abbott with the 35 000 majority?

You mean a safe seat where they could put anyone up with a red roset would not achieve the same numbers, I'm shocked that labour supporters are saying she is out of her depth..

Toodle Pip.

The sign of someone who doesn't have an intelligent response.

Justanotherlurker · 27/05/2019 19:54

Only 37% turnout and Brexit party, Change UK and UKIP to a certain extent are all one issue parties.

The problem with this is tired argument is that ardent remainers have used it for and against election results, for the past 3 years it was inferred that the non voters where happy with the current status quo, the current status quo is leave the EU, it is going to trip up a lot of journalists and commentators alike

woman19 · 27/05/2019 19:55

Are you calling me thick.😂

Justanotherlurker · 27/05/2019 19:58

Are you calling me thick.😂

I thought that was allowed now, did you do a degree in english lit that somehow makes you more astute to politics or something?

But if you want an honest answer, by your responses on this thread then yes I am,. The emojis are help with my assertion.
