Just that really. I want to make an informed decision but really don't know who should get my vote. Am thinking Lib Dems - good balance of wanting a People's Vote and prioritising climate change. Help!

Sorry should contextualise that last statement!

A two way split between green/lib dem won’t necessarily result in fewer remain seats under the d’Hondt method, but a third, much smaller party like Change UK taking votes could affect how many remain seats are won.

LimeKiwi · 23/05/2019 08:55

@AtSea1979 it's the European Elections on today and you should have got a card.
If not, as long as you're registered you should still be able to vote at your local polling station.

thecatsthecats · 23/05/2019 09:01

As a Lib Dem, this should be an easy one, but the tactical voting indicates that the Lib Dem candidate is safe and I should try for a Green (which I have no objection to).

The thing is, a Green elected candidate increases the seats won for Remain, but not the vote share for Remain. And an extra Remain MEP won't affect the balance of Brexit necessarily.

I'm torn between going for the max MEPs vs not splitting the Remain vote.

Given the shit show that’s going on in Parliament at the moment there’s a high chance that these MEPs may actually take up their seats for a fair amount of time. More MEPs means greater pro-EU, socially just and environmentally active politicians in the EU parliament.

sansou · 23/05/2019 09:08

Voted Lib Dem

MoreCuddlesForMummy · 23/05/2019 09:12

SNP... who knows what I’d do if I was still down the toad 🙄

GruciusMalfoy · 23/05/2019 09:20

I'm still swithering. Probably SNP, I think I used that site and it said it was the only sensible option.

calpop · 23/05/2019 09:20

Voted Lib Dem here as well

noodlenosefraggle · 23/05/2019 09:22

I voted lib dem. DH voted green. I noticed my polling station (in quite a small suburban village) had a lot more people, and more younger people than it usually does.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 23/05/2019 09:24

Green.
I’ve been on the tactical voting website and it recommended Lib Dem but I can’t vote Lib Dem, I hated the coalition,

thecatsthecats · 23/05/2019 09:25

To the remainer PP who is still sore about student fees. Wake up! That was a decade ago. Today is about Brexit not what happened three leaders ago. It doesn’t matter whether your local Labour MP is a remainer. Today’s vote doesn’t affect him or her. This is for MEPs. A vote for Labour is a vote for Brexit. If you want to bring stability back to our country you must vote for the two parties who say they want to remain - Green or Lib Dem. Definitely not the Tory’s or Labour.

Completely agree.

And if the rule is that you're allowed to bash the current state of a party on its performance this century, I will take the 'loan with fairly favourable conditions actually' over the 'thousands and THOUSANDS of dead in an ILLEGAL war' any day of the week. Labour voters who refuse to 'forgive' the LDs for tuition fees haven't got a logical leg to stand on in that regard.

Mabellavender · 23/05/2019 09:25

Vote for what? Is it local elections?

Alaimo · 23/05/2019 09:28

@MorrisZapp Why not just vote LibDem or ChangeUK? Both are pro-EU pro-UK parties.

Anyway, I voted Green this morning.

twofingerstoEverything · 23/05/2019 09:31

Vote for what? Is it local elections?

No. Today's the day we go and vote for the unelected bureaucrats of the EU Hmm

zingally · 23/05/2019 09:44

Green - probably.

I'd usually vote Labour in all over situations, but just can't bring myself to this time.

Oakenbeach · 23/05/2019 09:50

I'm torn between going for the max MEPs vs not splitting the Remain vote.

A united Remainer vote will help there to be united Remainer voice as we move forward.... Strategically that’s far more important.

A split and squabbling Remainer voice will allow Farage to flourish, and one or two extra seats here or there will count for very little. It’s Remainer disunity that’s a major risk to allowing a no deal Brexit.

Now’s not the time to hold grudges over the battles of 10 years ago (which is ironic as many of those who won’t vote Lib Dem voted Labour despite the Iraq War?!). Or to focus on where we disagree.... You can bet that many who are supporting the Brexit Party today strongly dislike Farage, but they see he bigger picture.... Remainers need to do the same if we aren’t to be bulldozed into no-deal.

For me that means the Lib Dem need our vote, and I haven’t voted for them since 2005.

100% agree!

WickedGoodDoge · 23/05/2019 09:53

I just voted SNP for the first time in my life. Guess I’m a floating voter now.

BertrandRussell · 23/05/2019 10:02

I held my nose and voted ChangeUK- the polling station was full of Brexit voters. But that’s where I live....

Yabbers · 23/05/2019 10:08

For the first time ever, i have no intention of voting at all. I can't see the point.

Tiscold · 23/05/2019 10:09

You could see it as during the years of the coalition the lib dems held back the worst of the conservative party because it's only within the last 4 years or so that serious cuts, brexit and uc have been out in place.

I don't think we can blame a whole party for a choice made years ago, or should we blame all of the labour party now because you sent us into the iraq war and as a party you're responsible for the death of our soldiers and the civillians from the war.As well as the destablisation of an entire region. Oh wait no, because party leadership changes, party positions change and the lib dems of today are different from the lib dems of the coalition and labour is different today then labour of the oh no they've got weapons of mass distruction (not) and we must invade them (totally not lap dogging america)labour

Justbreathing · 23/05/2019 10:46

Thank god the Lib Dem’s joined a coalition for our sakes.
They sacrificed themselves.

WattdeEll · 23/05/2019 10:54

Torn between Lib Dems and Green. I’m not keen on the gender policies of the Greens.

Re Brexit Party not publishing its manifesto, I think that shouldn’t be allowed. People have a right to know exactly what is in the manfiestos for all parties and they need to be held to account if they don’t deliver or lie to get votes.

ClariceBeansUncle · 23/05/2019 10:56

Lib Dem

AbsoluteGonk · 23/05/2019 11:02

Me too but politics moves on. We need to stop Brexit now.
