Anyone else think Jon got a really terrible deal in the end?

I know IABU to want a happy ending. It was never going to happen, but I'm still bummed about it.

I did like a heartbroken Brianne filling in the rest of Jaime's story.

The whole season has been as unfulfilling as a crap shag. 2/10

I’d say it wasn’t even a mediocre fingering to be honest

Justbreathing · 21/05/2019 00:22

Someone else said on another thread that bran is the most evil. (Clever)
Just sits back and lets all the fuckers do the work and then becomes king

Clever.

Justbreathing · 21/05/2019 00:22

@WoahMySocksAreOnFire
😂😂😂

WoahMySocksAreOnFire · 21/05/2019 00:25

The only way it would have been any good with Bran as king is if he sat on the throne and his eyes turned blue then the shot flew over to the night king sitting on an ice throne controlling bran

Bibijayne · 21/05/2019 00:25

@Justbreathing

Yup. He knew what was going to happen.

And his warging through time messed things up. Remember Hodor!?

OP posts:
Justbreathing · 21/05/2019 00:27

@WoahMySocksAreOnFire
That would have been amazing
Why didn’t they do that!

Breeindisguise · 21/05/2019 00:29

Not happy bran is King but also.....he got pushed out of a window and crippled at the very beginning. And Jon snow did take the night's watch oath so it's kinda fitting that's where he ended up? But then again he is a targaereon ??

Justbreathing · 21/05/2019 00:30

Annoying amount of spin off going on

Bibijayne · 21/05/2019 00:45

@WoahMySocksAreOnFire

If this is the end of the actual books.... !!!

I loved it, loved the whole series in fact. While I didn’t like Bran or want him on the throne I can see why it would work, particularly with Tiryon by his side. And let’s face it, how was he supposed to fight the night king/Cersei/Dany without everyone else? I must be the only person who didn’t want Sansa the selfish on the throne- I’m gutted she got the north! I though Jon going to the wall was sad initially, but on my second watch thought it was very fitting. Didn’t like Ayra going off alone, but she’s been saying it for weeks! Tyrion must be the bravest man in the kingdom! He went to see Cersei/Dany/dragons on his own and always spoke his thoughts. I loved him.

Just sad it’s finished.

WoahMySocksAreOnFire · 21/05/2019 00:56

There was no swearing or sex in this series either really. GOT has always been quite crude and shocking (and entertaining) but other than the battle with the night king it’s all been really dull 😴 like dry toast.

It’s like it became a PG

Cruelstepmother · 21/05/2019 01:06

Well, at least I can stop waiting for Arya's YEARS of training to be a Faceless Man to have any relevance to the plot...

Cruelstepmother · 21/05/2019 01:10

And how could they just kill off all the White Walkers like a stack of dominoes halfway through the series instead of in the last episode? The whole POINT of GoT is that all these political squabblings and intrigue mean nothing against the final battle, against Death.

user1480880826 · 21/05/2019 06:20

It was a really dull finale. Nothing about it was very convincing. It feels like it was written by someone else or written in a rush just to tie off some lose ends.

There’s no way that dragon wouldn’t have killed Jon Snow after he killed its mother. And how did they manage to capture and imprison John snow when no one saw it happen and the dragon flew off with the body?

And Bran the sulky teenager as king?

givemesteel · 21/05/2019 06:50

Truly truly awful, in that last 35 mins post Dany dying I was actually embarrassed for the actors having to cringe through those final terrible scenes.

They obviously tried to do a GOT twist by putting bran on the throne but he's basically the least satisfactory choice for viewers, is a boring and undeserved choice. The irony of tyrion saying who's got a better story than bran.... Er pretty much everyone, that's why we find him so boring!

And Jon wandering off with the wildlings when he's the last Targaryen, it is so ridiculous and a terrible ending for him. Bran didn't even need to appease the unsullied when they buggered off on to a ship to narth anyway, and why would the wishes of the unsullied determine the fate of such a key character.

I only hope this inspires George RR Martin to get off his arse and finish the books, as it would be such a shame if this was the legacy of what was a great story.

strawberrypenguin · 21/05/2019 06:51

No. I think it was actually a happy end for Jon. He would never have been happy in the South.

Marilynmansonsthermos · 21/05/2019 07:02

I agree with a pp that this series was so PG! No sex or swearing, yes some gore though I guess. I could have let my 12 year old watch it! I'm glad the Starks "won" but at the same time I'm glad Jon wasn't the king. He has been incredibly dim in this series and the last, making some really poor decisions!

Mrsemcgregor · 21/05/2019 07:03

Wasn’t the Nights Watch always fairly pointless? Even though the undead and WWs were there, they were sleeping and hadn’t been seen for 1000s years and no one believed in them?

Wasn’t the job they were doing basically stopping the wildlings from reaping northern lands? Which Jon will be fantastic at, he will forge alliances to ensure that wildlings have the good they need to survive without the need to pillage.

I think.....

Morgan12 · 21/05/2019 07:11

I'm fine with Jon killing Dany but I think it was done too fast. I think she should have had time on the throne. She should have called everyone to KL to 'bend the knee' and Sansa wouldn't have.

She would have had Tyrion and Sansa as her captors and that's when Jon should have said fuck this shit and made his claim for the throne and killed her.

LindsayDenton · 21/05/2019 07:11

I’m hoping there’s an Arya spin off!

Morgan12 · 21/05/2019 07:12

That way would have also seen Jon's parentage actually playing a part in the story. Because it was basically pointless.

IHeartArya · 21/05/2019 07:13

Didn’t GRRM give D&D the ending. The books will end up with this ending. How they get there may be different but the end result will be the same. Also the book’s first chapter is Bran. I think that was GRRMs intention all along.

DobbysLeftSock · 21/05/2019 07:13

I dont mind Jon being off in the far North with the free folk. That seems to fit for him - he was raised a Stark, is definitely more Stark than Targ, so is better off North. But he's not a true Stark, has always been an outsider, and now he can be somewhere that doesn't matter. I can kinda see that as the "bittersweet" ending they were talking about.

Sansa as queen of the North I like. She'll do a good job and I like her character arc.

Arya - wtf. Faceless Man training all bssically pointless, apart from killing house frey, which was ignored by everyone else! Don't mind her going off exploring just think she should have got there in a more interesting way.

Dani's character was ruined. Ruined I say! It needed to be done much more subtly and far slower. I don't buy all this 'it was foreshadowed' guff, it was badly done and it sucked. Also if she was a mad targ all along she could have just torched KL first, killed off the Lannisters, keeping all 3 dragons alive, then flown up to the north to deal with the NK. Ayra would still have been there to do the stabbing, it would have made no difference, and the North wouldn't have been able to stand in the face of 3 dragons. She'd have got the lot.

Bran. Fucking Bran. Urgh.
