And if so, how will you vote?
I want to vote tactically against the Brexit Party so I am thinking LibDems. But knowing mn and it’s very politically engaged (not to mention intelligent) posters, I thought I would put this out there Wink

worried I don’t know if they release the results yet or something? My dm was definitely vote counting postal votes last week.

FrenchJunebug · 22/05/2019 10:49

LibDem.

Woofbloodywoof · 22/05/2019 10:53

Definitely voting Lib Dem here. Only clear Remain party. Their other policies are decent and sensible too. I have a feeling a lot of moderate ex-Labour voters like myself will be voting for Lib Dems in the immediate future. Hoping they can mount a proper challenge to the rabid Farage & Co.

Tatiebee · 22/05/2019 11:23

I'll be voting LibDem, I would usually vote Labour but I don't agree with their stance on Brexit.

Mamimawr · 22/05/2019 11:33

In Wales so will be voting Plaid.

gamerwidow · 22/05/2019 11:37

Those remain websites aren’t helping. The two main ones posted up thread tell me to vote Lib Dem’s on one and Change UK on the other.
I can’t remember any other election where I’ve been literally flipping a coin on the day and hoping for the best.

TheRattleBag · 22/05/2019 11:45

I'm being advised to vote either Lib Dem or Green. But I can't agree with either of their stances on the whole gender ID/sex malarkey.

Do my feminist principles override my desire to stay in Europe? Or vice versa?

So at the moment, no idea how I'll be voting!

gamerwidow · 22/05/2019 12:14

That’s a question only you can answer as a voter. You have to decide where the line is yourself.
I think because it is a European Election then Brexit is the key issue but if you think other issues are more important then you should vote according to them and that’s fine.

simplekindoflife · 22/05/2019 12:28

I really shocked at the amount of LibDem voters on MN!

It's here I had my eyes opened to the erosion of women's spaces and rights. I have a dd and the thought of her growing up with this attitude really scares me. It's a totally terrifying stance and the women here are effectively supporting that??

Go Green if you have to, but think about your rights as a woman as well as your views on Brexit.

Rainbunny · 22/05/2019 12:34

Already voted LibDem in the Eastern district. The Lib Dems have been the only party to be honest and direct that they want to stay in the EU from the very start.

I don't trust Labour on this at all although I was historically a Labour voter but then I'm not voting for Labour again until there is a change of leader. If there's a GE I will vote LibDem in that too. It's beyond depressing that it's now simply unthinkable for me to vote for either of the two biggest parties (not that I'd ever vote Tory) but who knows what government we will end up with. It makes me furious that we may end up having to choose between Boris Johnson or Jeremy Corbyn.

ilovesooty · 22/05/2019 12:35

In a European election with Brexit as the urgent overriding concern I'm not giving any kind of priority to women's issues. To me that's something for another day, a different election and another voting situation.

ethelfleda · 22/05/2019 12:41

Don’t vote LibDem in a general election...
But this is about Brexit. Leaving the EU will erode women’s rights in other ways...

I would honestly go with Gina Miller’s website - remaintogether.org

Both myself and my husband would generally vote Labour but they are dragging their feet and are not clear on a few issues that are important to us ,so they are loosing our vote this time around. We would like to vote for Change UK but we are unsure if they will get enough votes to make a real difference so we will be probably vote tactically for the LibDem.

JustSomebodie · 22/05/2019 12:55

I'm cheesed off that the Brexit vote will be split between the Brexit Party and UKIP.

MrsWooster · 22/05/2019 12:59

Yorkshire and the Number says vote green, on 'remain voter'.
In terms of ad hoc referendum, surely it doesn't matter about splitting the votes, since there will be figures available of (all votes cast for remain parties) v (all votes cast for leave parties)? I suppose Labour diehards confuse that theory tho...

Exactly.

I suppose Labour diehards confuse that theory tho...*

Tavannach · 22/05/2019 13:30

Sorry, the cat landed on me while I was typing and it posted too soon.

I suppose Labour diehards confuse that theory tho...

I think the "all things to all men" approach gives the undecided on Europe somewhere to go. I suppose.

PortiaCastis · 22/05/2019 13:34

Molly Scott Cato (Green) gets my vote
I'm certainly not voting for Carl Benjamin horrible specimen standing for a horrible party

WordInYourShellLike · 22/05/2019 14:07

Just wanted to add something more about voting for the Lib Dems tomorrow. It's worth looking at who they vote with in the EU Parliament. The Lib Dems' ALDE group regularly joins forces with right-wing parties, including the Tories, to put a brake on progressive efforts by Labour and its sister parties. For example:

• in March 2019 the Lib Dem MEP and most of her liberal allies joined with right-wing parties to oppose the setting of firm pre-conditions for future trade agreements with the US, including the ratification of the Paris climate agreement.

• In April 2019 the Lib Dems’ ALDE group in the European Parliament joined with other conservative groups to block an invitation to address the European Parliament for climate activist Greta Thunberg, who has inspired climate protests and actions across Europe.

• In December 2018, the liberals in the European Parliament joined with the Tories and other right wing politicians to block efforts to increase a proposed new digital services tax from 3% to 5%, a move which could have helped make tech-giants such as google, Apple and Amazon pay a fairer share of tax.

• In 2017 The Lib Dems' European grouping formed a pact with right-wing MEPs at the most recent election of the European Parliament President, thereby gifting the key EU post to Antonio Tajani, a controversial ally of Silvio Berlusconi.

Joey7t8 · 22/05/2019 14:57

Definitely Lib Dem. I’m very sceptical about these tactical voting sites telling me to vote anything other to support remain in English regions.

Would hope to see some sort of alliance with Change U.K. in a GE.

@WordInYourShellLike - rather than C&P could you cite your references please? Saves us all the bother of checking your sources. Thanks!

AdoraBell · 22/05/2019 22:43

I almost don’t care who I vote for as long as neither Farage or UKIP get the seat. I’ve got a choice between Green Party and Lib Dem.

Does anyone know which of these is most likely to get the seat for South West? Somerset if that helps.

I’m going round in fucking circles 🤦‍♀️

Tavannach · 22/05/2019 22:55

Does anyone know which of these is most likely to get the seat for South West? Somerset if that helps.

6 MEPs will be elected from the South West region.

At least 3 of these are predicted to be from the Brexit party, with another going to Labour. You should vote either for the Greens or the Lib Dems.
