To think throwing milkshakes over people is disgusting?

GrumpyCatLives · 20/05/2019 13:00

So apparently it’s okay to chuck milkshakes over people we disagree with?

Now, I do not like Tommy Robinson, Carl Sargon, or Farage. However, I think that chucking cold food at them, or threatening to, is pathetic. If you disagree with them, then debate them. Take down their argument intelligently. Chucking a cheap milkshake makes you look like a toddler.

And I don’t want to go all grassy knoll on your ass, but why is he still holding a bit of sandwich?

But anyway. We all, or most of us, agree that throwing things at people is a bad idea for many reasons.

It’s interesting, though, that if the video of Ed Milliband being egged had gone as viral as the picture of him eating a sandwich, the country might be in a very different place now.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 24/05/2019 08:10

To be fair

If someone did that to me you’d certainly have photos of me laughing....however upset i was

You’d also have a picture of me eating a sandwich...i like my food

GrumpyCatLives · 24/05/2019 08:12

The victim blaming here is disgusting. Sad

“The victim blaming here is disgusting”

So you don’t see anything remotely dodgy in this incident? Looks absolutely genuine to you?

Hithere12 · 24/05/2019 08:33

Looool I’m gonna spill yoghurt on myself and say a Brexiteer threw it on me, post on Twitter then go viral 😫

Lifecraft · 24/05/2019 09:03

Couldn't care less.

He is out campaigning for a party/leader that has split the nation, enabled the hostile environment toward foreigners, forced 10s and 1000s of eu citizens to leave the country, Windrush and now students wrongly deported.
On top of all that Farage said he'd take up a rifle if Brexit wasn't delivered, so prepared to take up arms against his country.

What does he expect?

I think he expects,, like most people, not to be physically assaulted by people who disagree with them.

HTH.

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2019 09:11

@Lifecraft- entertaining that you choose to respond to the one post that appears to support throwing stuff at people, and choose to ignore the overwhelming majority that don’t- but think there is something distinctly dodgy about this particular incident

Alsohuman · 24/05/2019 09:23

Apparently he refused to change his clothes, despite being offered a clean shirt, and referred to the stains as “a badge of honour”, according to that rabid, left wing, rabble rousing rag, the Daily Telegraph.

Sounds like a stunt to me.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 24/05/2019 09:24

I think it's wrong, whoever it's being thrown at. But yes, I do think doing this to an old man feels especially wrong - I do accept that this is an emotional reaction rather than an entirely logical one though
I don't think it's a stunt based on pics of the man smiling and keeping hold of his sandwich. I'd put a brave face on if it happened to be but I'd still be very upset

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2019 09:28

“I don't think it's a stunt based on pics of the man smiling and keeping hold of his sandwich. ”

That’s not what it’s based on.

Dana28 · 24/05/2019 09:47

Just saw an alleged witness account of the incident from someone who says they have CCTV footage of the guy willingly allowing someone to pour the milky whateveritwas over him. Which may be complete bollocks. I don't know.
It has clearly been thrown not poured. Besides since when do we blame victims of assault for allowing themselves to be assaulted?

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2019 09:51

“Besides since when do we blame victims of assault for allowing themselves to be assaulted?”

We don’t. However we do blame people for being involved in a cynical attempt to manipulate public sentiment, influence voting and inflame an already unpleasant situation. Which is increasingly looking as if this was.

Langrish · 24/05/2019 09:51

Farage, Yaxley-Lennon, Batten etc. Nasty, dangerous, inhuman in varying degrees, the world would be a better place if they and people like them had stayed under their stones. No-one though deserves to fear for a second that someone may have thrown acid at them. It makes their challenger as low as they are, it’s not the way to put your case.

NoYo · 24/05/2019 09:55

Regardless of your political leanings, it's a dangerous precedent. Next time it could be acid or something equally harmful.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 24/05/2019 09:55

The witness is quite obviously suggesting that he wasn’t assaulted

Yesicancancan · 24/05/2019 10:03

Disgusting?? No.
A little childish but effective way of communicating disgust for disgusting manipulative man

Lifecraft · 24/05/2019 10:13

Bertrand, if you look back to the beginning of this thread, you'll see I was one of the loan voices agreeing with the OP, whereas most posters supported throwing milkshakes.

I also think this incident could be dodgy, and I did say earlier in the thread that it was only a matter of time before the far right started organising for themselves to be attacked so they could blame the remainers. Just like the Nazis used to vandalise their own offices and blame the Jews.

All this is sooo predictable, but sadly most on this thread who support physical assaults on those they don't like are too thick to see it.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 24/05/2019 10:15

Has anyone verified that the witness is more reliable than the victim?

WMPAGL · 24/05/2019 10:36

It's pretty simple - do you want the law to step in to prevent people who disagree with an opinion you express from throwing food and drink over you?

If so, then that right is extended to everyone equally in a civilized society. Believe it or not, at some point there will be people in society whose opinion of you is as low as your opinion of Farage et al!

If not, and you're happy to have someone potentially throw milkshake over you every time you step out of the door without any consequences...I don't believe you!

Alsohuman · 24/05/2019 10:37

Always a rational argument to call your opponent thick.

RiversDisguise · 24/05/2019 10:39

Anyone thinking it's justified to attack a pensioner because he has differing political beliefs from them is a cunt tbh

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2019 10:41

“Anyone thinking it's justified to attack a pensioner because he has differing political beliefs from them is a cunt tbh”

Why a pensioner in particular?

Coquillage · 24/05/2019 10:48

I love the 'BREXIT PARTY MILKSHAKE MAN: A SPLATTER ANALYSIS' Twitter thread Grin

WhoWasIt · 24/05/2019 10:53

I think throwing food and drink over anyone is pathetic and childish. The only time food and drink should be thrown is when its being thrown in the bin.
I remember John Prescott having an egg thrown at him. The aggressor was shocked when JP turned round and smacked him on the beak for his efforts.

maddy68 · 24/05/2019 10:55

I deplore everything that farage, Tommy et Al stand for but that is assault and shouldn't happen
