This is hideous

She sounded much better on the new song but wow, Like A Prayer was diabolical.

Her political point was slightly more subtle than Iceland's... Grin

Voice0fReason · 19/05/2019 00:05

Wow, that was excruciating

PortiaCastis · 19/05/2019 00:11

She was feckin dire I dunno about like a prayer I was praying she'd get off and go home, my Mums cat on steroids sounds only marginally worse

wizzler · 19/05/2019 00:15

She seemed to be carrying herself strangely. I thought she had a harness on and was about to fly... but no...

LassOfFyvie · 19/05/2019 00:17

Desperately seeking the right note.

Her voice was never particularly interesting but that was awful.

Who chose the stairs, she looked about 80 tentatively taking each step!

She's a year older than me. She has my sympathy there. The eye patch won't have helped the lack of depth perception.

Severnlurveheart · 19/05/2019 00:18

She performed it amazingly in 2018 at the Met Gala.

Lol @ the fact someone coughed up £1m for her Eurovision performance.

RedToothBrush · 19/05/2019 00:25

She did us a favour.

Our song was most definitely not the worst performance of the night!

giddyyup · 19/05/2019 00:26

It was utter cringe and she walked down those stairs like my 98 year old gran!

LassOfFyvie · 19/05/2019 00:29

But £1 million is presumably nothing to Madonna? Her estimated net worth is £590 million.

LassOfFyvie · 19/05/2019 00:33

What was cringe making about it?

Her singing was awful but there are some nasty ageist comments on here.

News flash giddyup some people as they get older find stairs difficult. I do - it's not a mobility issue as such but to do with depth perception. I'm 60 and it affects me. My husband is 65 and it doesn't affect him.

There is damn all cringey about it- unlike your post.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 19/05/2019 00:36

Severn
Thank You.

That was lovely and also looks live not lip synced.
What the hell happened tonight then?
Was she part auto-tuned for the met gala?
Could she not hear herself this evening?

It is such a shame

CigarsofthePharoahs · 19/05/2019 00:36

She never had a stand out live singing voice.
It was out of tune and whilst I praise her bravery on singing live, she just can't hack it any more. She was out of tune regularly and it was all a bit sad.

HelenaDove · 19/05/2019 00:37

Seems to me MN chops and changes its mind about age when it suits 60 year old woman singer is old so should pack it in get a stair lift etc.

Yet 60 year old women shouldnt get their pension or pension credit as that is still young and they should still be working.

callmeadoctor · 19/05/2019 00:38

Severn, yes that was a much better performance. By the way I don't think its ageist to say she was dodgy on the stairs, she clearly showed her fragility I would say.

callmeadoctor · 19/05/2019 00:39

I mean Shirley Bassey cannot keep the range that she used to have, but can't see her trying to sing and do stairs!!!

Floralnomad · 19/05/2019 00:39

It was terrible , some people just need to know when to retire gracefully not try to still do the same act at 60 that you were doing at 35 . What’s the eye patch all about is it because she’s had so much plastic surgery that her eyes don’t line up anymore ?

AutumnColours9 · 19/05/2019 00:41

I quite enjoyed it!

callmeadoctor · 19/05/2019 00:43
the amazing Shirley Bassey at 74!!!!!!!
RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 19/05/2019 00:45

well, no - Kate Bush sounded fab, Chrissie Hynde still sounds good

Madonna doesn't need the cash and Elton John accused her of lip syncing in concerts (as does Britney)

For her to perform so badly on a global platform when at the met gala above she knocked it out the park is tragic

For the record I've called out Robert Plant and David Coverdale for singing badly live - at some point you do need to hang up the mik

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 19/05/2019 00:46

mike, even

LarryGreysonsDoor · 19/05/2019 00:47

A 60 year old should continue to do their job providing they are able to do it.
She can’t do it anymore.
Just like if she was a high jumper or footballer. No one would expect them to carry on competing or playing.
If that 60 year old was brought on as the star player in a football match and then failed to kick the ball but failed people would say it was their age, because it would be.
It’s the same with her. But in this case no one seems to want to tell her she’s singing flat.

LassOfFyvie · 19/05/2019 00:47

It is ageist to go "ooh, I cringed" or whatever the idiotic post was.

I've never liked Madonna but thinking about it, particularly in light of some of the posts on here, it was brave of her.

60 year old woman finds stairs difficult should elicit no response beyond - yeah , some do- so what?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 19/05/2019 00:47

mic, even?! [gives up, goes home, applauds Madge for the met one]

mathanxiety · 19/05/2019 00:48

I think she's always been a very poor singer tbh. Flat, out of tune, warbled too much.

NameChangeNugget · 19/05/2019 00:48

It wasn’t her finest hour.
