I wonder if it is possible the any auto tune might make things even worse if you are not close to the correct note? If it guesses the wrong note, you might end up even further from the intended result.

I'm not sure how auto tune works. If it is programmed with the correct tune, then it might be able to correct whatever you do. But if it only corrects to the nearest likely note, then you would be in trouble if you get it completely wrong and are not just a little flat.

I think i saw the 'fixed' version too. Just saw the original and I take it all back. Her voice used to be way better than this. She needs to start using her voice properly and regularly again as the vocal coach points out. She also needs to avoid large flights of steps whilst trying to sing (don't we all?!)

@woollyheart the auto tune would be unlikely to make it worse. I'm not entirely sure how it works but I think (could be wrong) it's linked to the actual melody. There was also the issue of her breath control. She was out of breath and couldn't sustain a note, or find the higher ones. Absolutely shocking performance by anybody's standards.

Woollyheart, the voice coach theorised that she was so out of tune that the autotune was unable to correct. If whole phrases are way off then autotune can't function.
