She sounds way worse than she did live in her heyday, *Cat’. She always had a reedy, uninteresting voice, but she fronted it out and used backing vocalists to cover for her during energetic dance routines on tour, so the performance was engaging if not the vocals, but this was awful. I genuinely thought she was going to stop and walk off — sure.y she could hear herself going that off-key? And even the applause at the end sounded tokenisation and mortified.

She was by far the worst act of the night. So so bad. No explanation for the eyepatch either, bizarre. Maybe it was to distract us from her singing lol?

I was disappointed. The stairs just made her look old. No charisma.

Frazzled The last two people walking up the stairs had the Israeli and Palestinian ( I think) flags on them.

Being unable to carry a tune even with a JCB bucket hasn't seemed to do Paul McCartney's career any harm since 1990. He still gets wheeled out for interminable sing-a-longs of Hey Jude with no apparent end point.

I was watching with DD who was less than impressed as she had never heard of Madonna .She thought she was one of the competitors and wondered why she got 2 songs to sing.
Terrible performance.She truly did look like an old woman going down the stairs one at a time ,sideways. What on earth possessed her to agree to that.

Like a Prayer sounded like someone singing bad karaoke. She's not doing herself any favours going up against some (not all) of the competitors who can actually sing.

She was totally flat, saw her many years ago live and she was excellent, has she lost her singing voice!

The singing wasn't great but the ageism on this thread is plenty worse.

She crucified her best song, Like a Prayer, and will no doubt be crucified in the press for that hideous performance.
The way she hobbled down those stairs looked like the intro to a stairlift advert. I could imagine the voiceover... "Do YOU have trouble managing stairs now? Do YOU have mobility problems?"
She and Paul McCartney both seem unable to understand the concept of bowing out gracefully.

What ageism? Nothing to do with her age. More to do with an ego the size of a planet and zero talent.

I don’t see any reason why she shouldn’t perform into her 90s, and am entirely against the idea that older women should ‘bow out gracefully’, preferably with a blue rinse, but that was vocally terrible. Did she have a cold? Surely she doesn’t always sound like this live these days?

Well she had to be careful on the stairs. Given her lack of depth perception.

Her voice was never the best. Her stage presence was unbeatable since she first burst into the scene decades ago. It was a spectacular show tonight for all the wrong reasons. Oh dear.

She has become predictable and it’s a little dull

She was great not a great singer or dancer but a fantastic artist who knew how to stay ahead

Her voice was better and still better that her early performances listen to Live Aid it’s awful but she was so exciting then she isn’t now
