Nostalgic memories perhaps?

Totally. They are the shoes that kids our age wore as our first school shoes but we had them in navy or black. Buying them in a bright colour doesn’t make them fashionable - sorry- I live in comfy flats but think these are hideous in a grown up.

Pp has it DS has these in navy for his first ever shoes......age 1

EdWinchester · 17/05/2019 19:07

Not keen on adults in kids' giant shoes.

Sturmundcalm · 17/05/2019 19:08

i like them but i had DMs quite like them 20 years ago. and my views have to be measured against the fact that one of my pairs of shoes was described as DH and DD as "fugly", "like mister men shoes" and "beyond comprehension" so not sure my endorsement really helps Wink

Dieu · 17/05/2019 19:09

They're like a wee girl's shoes! I bet you have a big, thick fringe cut too short, and big glasses Wink

ginghamtablecloths · 17/05/2019 19:10

They look comfy and if that's the case then why worry? Though I have to admit that they remind me of some sandals I wore when I was about 11 - and desperately wanted something more grown-up. They must be better for your feet than ridiculous stiletto heels which cripple you. And a big plus - you could run for the bus in them if necessary.

Lucked · 17/05/2019 19:11

I bought a similar pair in navy by red or dead last year but have never gotten up the courage to actually wear them. It doesn’t help that I have a 5 year old DD and she has similar shoes. Also I should maybe have sized down as they are very wide.

What are you going to wear them with?

theyellowjumper · 17/05/2019 19:11

I love them & would definitely wear them. Rude guy in shop probably bullies his partner into wearing horribly uncomfortable heels.

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 17/05/2019 19:12

I have many pairs of these, OP, in different colours. A few years back they did them in purple and I wore them to death. They're the comfiest shoes I have ever worn.

fedup21 · 17/05/2019 19:12

I like them Grin.

I’ve got quite small feet though so they’d probably look ok-maybe less so in a size 8!

flumpybear · 17/05/2019 19:13

Oh dear - total marmite!!

They're awful IMO and the Fly ones are a bit better but still chunky and not very attractive tbh 😳

Picklypickles · 17/05/2019 19:13

I think they're nice, although I wouldn't wear them personally as I have very short legs and I think they'd probably make me look even stumpier!

Siameasy · 17/05/2019 19:14

Oh God sorry they really are awful. Pretty sure I had them in the 80s. Why?!?😂

LucilleBluth · 17/05/2019 19:15

I've got loads of Red or Dead shoes in similar styles. I never even though about it, I just like them.

ObvsItsNotMe · 17/05/2019 19:16

No fringe and no glasses - pixie cut and 20 20 vision! I'll either wear them with black skinnies stripy top and long cardi (greys and blacks) or grey or navy linen dress, leggings and cardi and some kind of "quirky" necklace. God yes, I am actually an art teacher aren't I?

Letthemysterybe · 17/05/2019 19:17

I’d look ridiculous in them, but I do t have. A strong sense of style! I know people who would look cool because it would fit their particular geek chic look.

pointythings · 17/05/2019 19:17

My shoes scream comfort over style - why is that a problem? I have no intention of forcing myself into elegant devices of torture unless for a formal occasion such as a wedding - and even then I'll have a comfortable alternate pair with me for dancing. I mean, have you tried doing a ceilidh in stilettos?

Siameasy · 17/05/2019 19:17

The red ones are far less offensive

SmellMySmellbow · 17/05/2019 19:18

God yes, I am actually an art teacher aren't I? hahahahaaaa, yep! But I'm sure you own the look with confidence Grin

RidgedPerfection · 17/05/2019 19:18

I like them, although have size eight feet and couldn't pull them off....style wise. Don't want to pull off my feet Wink.

That said this I bet you have a big, thick fringe cut too short, and big glasses is me without the glasses so perhaps that explains it!!

Thallo · 17/05/2019 19:19

Although I'd rather lose my trotters than wear those particular shoes I do like seeing people with a strong sense of no fucks given personal style.

Enko · 17/05/2019 19:21

I love them I love red and dead shoes.. I wear Allegria Paloma though :)

StoneColdOld · 17/05/2019 19:22

Oh god, sorry op but I love them and just ordered a pair. The apology is because I'm 68.
Sorry. (I've had purple and blue hair recently too - embarassed the DC no end). Grin

millythepink · 17/05/2019 19:22

Those shoes need to be taken outside and shot. It would be a mercy.

Alsohuman · 17/05/2019 19:23

I couldn’t pull them off. You have to have a lot of style to get away with those.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 17/05/2019 19:24

Yeah, brings back memories of primary school! Which in turn brought on a flashback to jelly sandals, anyone on here remember them? (Do you have a pair of them too OP Grin)
