Was having a conversation with a friend this week and she's been banned from her local swimming centre for arguing with the receptionist. The receptionist didn't believe her daughters age and said that she was trying to get her in cheaper Confused resulting in the manager banning her for life!

It made me think of the time I was banned from Santa's grotto 15 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can't go into too much detail because it's extremely outing!

Have you ever been banned from somewhere and why?

Lighthearted 😬

@JustLikeAPill I never got barred from subway, but I'm fairly sure I got alcohol poisoning from there with their dodgy alcohol from a £1a drink Thursday night.

Inferiorbeing · 12/05/2019 09:30

I got banned from a pub on my 18th as I was sick.. baring in mind this was the type of pub where people would snort coke at the bar! I went back though as it was my friends local and they spent enough money there over the years they overlooked it..

Lulu49 · 12/05/2019 10:16

Your friend must have got into a big row about it to get banned. Nipping home to get said child’s birth certificate/passport would have sorted it out and not resulted in a ban! Wish I had been a fly on the wall 🤣

Lulu49 · 12/05/2019 10:21

You sound horrible! You also sound proud that you ruined someone’s livelihood all cos you got angry. Pathetic, what an example to your daughter

Topseyt · 12/05/2019 10:33

Mummyparanoia, I hope you do get your apology now. That's just awful, and you provided documentary evidence too!!

elQuintoConyo · 12/05/2019 12:44

Chucked out of Brownies for wearing a wig. I was 8.

Banned from nethuns, like many here

Banned from Lincoln train station for mooning off a bridge, I was 16. By 16.5 I was allowed back Grin

Banned from a pub quiz for calling out a team's horrible name (Born Through a Tight Womb, FFS). I gave them, all male, a biology lesson, very politely. Still got banned.

I got chucked out of RE class on a regular basis at secondary school for asking 'why?'. My headteacher had a chair set aside for me in her room so I could do homework or read twice a week. "Afternoon, Conyo. I've been expecting you". She was lovely. I wasn't being antagonistic, but had zero idea about religion before 11yo and was genuinely curious. The school vicar/re teacher couldn't cope with me Confused

L1nkedOut · 12/05/2019 12:45

Barred from The Dun Laoghaire shopping centre in about 1989 (for loitering). Their loss!

L1nkedOut · 12/05/2019 12:51

It hasn't been the same since btw.

Hoppinggreen · 12/05/2019 15:31

lulu is that directed at me?
If so I’m not proud but not in the least bit sorry - the example I set my daughter was to deal calmly with a situation and then decide what to do about it later, and also how to use contacts/ networks to achieve your goal
I fail to see how I have been singled out amongst all the drunken shagging in inappropriate places etc
Anyway, I suspect her business wasn’t going well as she clearly couldn’t cope and I probably tipped it over the edge.
She humiliated me for doing nothing wrong and upset my daughter not just at the time but for ages afterwards so I don’t feel guilty at all

bpirockin · 12/05/2019 16:11

This makes me smile, and feel the need to go out and make mischief as I've never been banned from anywhere. I currently have a friend who is banned from the local Morrisons and two nearby coffee shops. Sadly, in one case, I'm pretty sure she deserved it, but I'm not so sure about the coffee shops. She is disabled, loud, and has a hearing problem, so often misunderstood. I think I'd rather be deliberately naughty :D

handslikecowstits · 12/05/2019 16:12

DH is banned from Go Outdoors. Confused

theWarOnPeace · 12/05/2019 16:25

I got banned from Woolworths as a kid, for shovelling tonnes of pick n mix in my gob whilst ‘browsing’. Any time my mum or GM would take me in there with them, I would be absolutely bricking it in case the manager spotted me. Woolworths was pretty much the main shop for us at the time, along with Sainsbury’s, so it was almost entirely unavoidable!

As an adult I got banned from a then local pub for being drunk and leaning over the bar and grabbing a handful of chips that were about to be served. There’s a theme here, I feel!

janeybumtum · 12/05/2019 16:45

My parents were asked not to bring me back to Sunday school when I was about 5 because I kept asking the vicar how he could be so sure god existed and then I pointed out that there was more proof that Santa existed because you could see the gifts he brought.

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 12/05/2019 16:53

Banned from using all trains from Fremantle to Perth one night. The railway police in Australia are really quite intimidating Blush

BettyJune07 · 12/05/2019 17:20

Banned supposedly for life from a local club when I was 16 for trying to sneak in with a friends I.D we looked nothing alike but I managed to get all the questions and her signature right, they then asked me my/her middle name and even though I had our BBM chat up on my phone and she goes by both names always I said Marie. Still went when i was 18 and always used to get on with the bouncers well so it clearly didn't work.

Got banned from the shop down the road from a pub I was basically raised in as he short changed me so me and my brother chucked a panda pop up his windows Blush

youarenotkiddingme · 12/05/2019 17:40

Is love to see a thread like this is 10-15 years time written by today's teens.

With the entitledness and the way they seem to get away with everything I can imagine

"I was nearly banned from Sainburies one day for opening a can of coke from a multipack and drinking it as I walked around. I was going to pay though don't see the problem. However when I told the security guards it was against my human rights to deny me a liquid drink when I was thirsty and he couldn't touch me when I refused to go to the office they seemed to back down"

Wink
youarenotkiddingme · 12/05/2019 17:41

Clearly we were all chancers but at least we admit to it Grin

powkin · 12/05/2019 19:29

Banned from using all computers at my school 17 years ago for subverting their no MSN/Chat rule by installing third party software. When the IT people found me I was basically dragged out of the library (really no loss to me). Genuinely thought I was Angelina Jolie in Hackers (and I still REALLY want to get off with Johnny Lee Miller Grin). I think they were mainly embarrassed that I was better at IT than the IT “department” (a man with the worst b.o. possible and his long suffering female assistant).

doingasurvey · 12/05/2019 20:01

I got barred from a club in Birmingham. I’d had 6 vodbulls and went to drunkenly request a song, but unfortunately I vomited all over his decks. The music turned off and they had to switch all the lights on to clean it up. I had to be escorted out by 4 people, who had to carry a limb each because I was paraletic

starkid · 12/05/2019 20:36

I've been banned from the dodgems (for being really shit) and also an aqua-aerobics class on holiday because, again, I was really shit - and also short.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 12/05/2019 21:13

powkin we used to use ICQ at college as it could be run from a floppy disc 😂😇

Marmablade · 12/05/2019 23:31

That reminds me. I was banned from art in yr9 for being so shit. The teacher genuinely thought I was taking the piss not even trying. Except I was and had a stand up row about the amount of effort I had put in. She put me in a separate classroom area after that. Twat.

UnchangedFaces321 · 12/05/2019 23:37

I got banned from my (at the time) local pub. Not totally sure why, but I feel like it's because I worked there for a short time and then quit because they treated me like shit.
I was petty though after I found out. I messaged their Facebook page and asked why I was banned. They replied "come in and we'll discuss it" to which I responded with "I can't come in, I'm banned"

Delurkingnamechange · 13/05/2019 08:07

Crazy golf, aged about 3. Wasn't able to hit very accurately. Kinda stupid to put crazy golf on the shore line where balls will end up in the sea!

MsTSwift · 13/05/2019 08:14

My bil was banned from a playgroup run from his home by his own mother Grin
