To ask if you've ever been banned/barred from anywhere?

Was having a conversation with a friend this week and she's been banned from her local swimming centre for arguing with the receptionist. The receptionist didn't believe her daughters age and said that she was trying to get her in cheaper Confused resulting in the manager banning her for life!

It made me think of the time I was banned from Santa's grotto 15 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can't go into too much detail because it's extremely outing!

Have you ever been banned from somewhere and why?

Lighthearted 😬

I'm banned from my local mcdonalds. Was in there a few years back and there was a small group of 6 teens, all very polite, quiet, well behaved. All had purchased food and drink.
Security guard came and told them they needed to leave and removed their food.
I questioned why they were being asked to leave and was told they didn't allow groups of teens after 6pm. I didn't think this was fair so took up their cause, telling them to sit down whilst they were telling me not to worry, don't get myself into trouble for them.

The security guard said if I didn't be quiet he'd remove me, to which I replied he'd best call his friends then because it'd take more than him. I then staged a sit in until they called the police 😂

My point was they were discriminatory, and if they replaced teens in the 'we don't allow groups of' with disabled people, women, black people that they'd be sent to hell so I don't see why it's OK to discrimate against young people

Anyway, I'm banned officially but ate a bacon roll meal about 5 minutes ago so they aren't very good at enforcing the ban 😂

Zena exactly the same happened to a friends son. He is 14 and delightful. Him and his friends were aggressively thrown out of a shop that the family used regularly recently. The police subsequently warned the boys to avoid the shop not that they had done anything wrong but for their own safety as the owner was unhinged and “known” to them

Pinkyyy · 13/05/2019 09:53

I've been locked out/banned from/not allowed in to countless places, purely for being a gypsy.

On a lighter note, I'm loving this thread!

Pinkyyy · 13/05/2019 09:56

Kicked out* not locked

MadisonAvenue · 13/05/2019 09:59

zena last year my son, then aged 18, went into McDonalds with his friend just after 9, both had just finished their shifts in a supermarket so were in uniform. They’d just stopped off there while my son was giving his friend a lift home.

They each ordered a milkshake and were asked for ID to prove they were over 18, my son had his licence but his friend didn’t have anything with his DOB on it so was asked to leave if he couldn’t prove it as their policy was no under 18s after 8pm.

MummyParanoia101 · 13/05/2019 10:12

@Topseyt @Pinkarsedfly @SunshineCake Nope, they refuse to! They won't even discuss it with me. Thanks though x

Dollywilde · 13/05/2019 11:00

Completely outing to anyone who knows me, but I got barred from a pub on Oxford Street about five years ago because my friend and I drunkenly attempted to steal their (fully decorated) Christmas tree... by grabbing it and running down the road.

MightyDonut · 13/05/2019 11:10

Banned from my P.I.L home by the police after smacking my thieving sister in law there.
To be fair, they banned her a couple of years later when they realised I was correct when she'd completely fleeced them.

GammonNosher · 13/05/2019 11:21

Zena you are my hero. Did you give them a proper screech when they carried you out?

Comedia · 13/05/2019 12:32

I was asked to leave a charity shop because I lugged huge heavy bags of excellent quality donations there and they said they weren't accepting any more that day and I made a fuss and said although I don't require huge thanks they could at least show a teensy bit of gratitude then I put the bags on the floor so I could browse and they escorted me and the bags from the premises in case I did a runner leaving them three. I did complain to the charity head office and, coincidentally I am sure, they have closed that outlet now.

Bigbopboo · 13/05/2019 12:38

Our entire school was banned from a local shopping centre because a couple of girls had been shoplifting .

KTMP16 · 13/05/2019 13:18

Some of these have made me laugh so much!
I managed to get barred from a proper scruffy bar...the only place open til 6am...so it was clearly very late/early and i was clearly very intoxicated... some psycho girl came over screaming and pushes Confused not a clue who she was or what she was ballooning over! Anyway, ouncer comes over n tells us both to get out
The best bit was my friend told me I then stood outside arguing with he bouncer along the lines "c`mon look at me...look at her...who do you reckons causing trouble!" Grin my friend dragged me away!
I was proper miffed because there was nowhere else open n i had to end the night n get a taxi
Im such a nice quiet girl its so embarrassing to admit i ever got barred from anywhere...let alone that particular place!!

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 13/05/2019 13:20

I'm sure those staff (probably volunteers giving up their time) were terribly grateful to you for "making a fuss" and wanting "gratitude" for donations they didn't have room to accept Hmm

Still at least you got to complain about them, and be satisfied that a charity shop was closed down. Good work!

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 13/05/2019 13:21

Sorry, that was for comedia

Adelebo · 13/05/2019 13:36

Many years ago I was barred from a social club in a rough area for laughing during bingo 😂😂

Cruddles · 13/05/2019 14:02

Got kicked out of a pub for having hiccups. It was 5pm, I'd just arrived, hadn't had a drink, went outside to take a phone call, when it finished the bouncer wouldn't let me in because I was hiccuping. It seems his experience of drunks came from Bugs Bunny cartoons

Snugglepumpkin · 13/05/2019 14:14

I was banned from the bumper cars for dangerous driving.
To be fair I'd never been on bumper cars before & I was only about 8 but still.
They may have had a point though as I'm now nearly 50 & still unable to drive :-)

clairemcnam · 13/05/2019 14:25

Adelebo I can imagine you would get banned for that. Some people take bingo very seriously.

badlydrawnperson · 13/05/2019 14:29

Banned from Curry’s in Bath for trying to buy an item at the price shown when they wanted to charge more. I thought we were just having a discussion about it but the assistant asked his manager what to do and was instructed not to sell me the item at any price and they told me to leave (I should point out I was being polite about it not being a git or swearing or rude).

Quite glad really, it encouraged me to seek alternative sources for electronics all of which have proved cheaper and provided better service.

Shimy · 13/05/2019 15:08

I thought we were just having a discussion about it

Yeah, sure you were Grin, that's what i thought i was doing too at the barber's.

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/05/2019 16:05

Glad to see I’m not the only one banned from Guides - for having a good time and fun. The leader absolutely loathed my friend and me. We weren’t even disruptive, just laughed together a lot. When there was a competition one time, she decided not to run it because we’d clearly won. Complete cow. Brownies had been so good for my self esteem too. Being with caring women.

MsTSwift · 13/05/2019 16:34

I got told to “ fuck off” by a till assistant at IKEA. It was just as the store was closing I was polite but an item didn’t have a scan code on it. Think maybe she needed retraining in customer relations!

UnderCroft · 13/05/2019 17:30

I was banned from a go kart track for breaking one of their cars with my 'terrible' driving. I was the youngest driver at 12 and had been given the shittest kart that literally fell apart when I bumped into a barrier. I ended up passing my real driving test first time so can't have been that bad.

Treefloof · 13/05/2019 17:45

Ah I forgot this one, I got thrown out of a wmc for talking whilst a minutes silence or something was happening for a member who had died.
I didnt know because I don't often go in wm clubs and I hadn't been listening. I wasnt banned but only cos they had no idea of my name. I had gone in with a member.

Jaxhog · 13/05/2019 17:55

I was banned from a local restaurant for giving them a very specific 3 star review on Trip Adviser!
