To think that my DD is broken?

I noticed something really odd today, something I can't unsee!
My DD, 3, puts her trousers on before her socks!!

AIBU to think that this is absolutely crazy, and to question if she's even mine Shock

It is definitely socks last! Socks with underwear looks stupid, trousers with no socks looks fine - it is so completely obvious to me. I think the only occasion where socks first might be ok is if it is a man putting on a suit - bare feet with a suit looks weird.

BUT none of this is as bad as putting your bra on before your knickers! I find this utterly baffling.

Why are the majority doing this the hard way? You have to think in layers, people. Socks sit under trousers so of course they go on first. But never before pants, that’s just creepy.

I must be a strange one too. I put on my socks first.....and I'm more than happy wandering around the house in undies and socks.....the top/trousers I want always seem to be in the clean washing basket downstairs.

And another one.........people actually wipe standing up?! Like a toddler?! My mind is blown Shock

Socks on first here. It is hard for me to pull the socks up if I am wearing trousers too tight to pull up the calf, which I usually am - skinny jeans, skinny trousers, leggings. Very rare that I wear trousers baggy enough to put my socks on last (unless they are trainer socks).

I put my jeans on first. I wear skinny jeans a lot and fume/despair to myself a lot about having visible sock ridges.

I do (sort of, and only for about the past few months) know about the idea of putting socks on first to avoid this, but it doesn't seem to stick in my mind. And I'm 43.

This made me think of the bit in Life on Mars when the John Simm character shags someone after a night out and she talks about him undressing and says 'You took your socks off first; I knew you were a classy bloke.'

You have to put socks on last because if you were to have an accident or die in between putting trousers and socks on you don't want to be in your underwear and socks. Whereas trousers without socks is fine.

My DS refuses to put his trousers on if he doesn't have his socks on first. Sometimes I'll say "just stick your trousers on and I'll find you a pair of socks", but apparently you can't do that. Maybe he is actually your son OP 😂

Socks before trousers, definitely. For argument’s sake:

Pants on first
Then socks (or tights)
Then bra
Then trousers (unless wearing skirt in which case t-shirt goes on first)
Then t-shirt etc.

I tend to find socks first is easier as you don't then have to lift your trouser leg to adjust afterwards Hmm

O always put socks on first too OP, I don't like the feeling of the carpet so I put them on before anything else.

Urm 2 things:
1)socks before knickers if you suffer from athletes foot to prevent spreading the fungus upwards so to speak.
2) socks under tights see above plus socks don't have that horrible toe seam and are 100% cotton.

Socks before trousers especially skinny jeans as socks help your feet slide better
However I do take socks off before trousers!

Bare feet in the house, so socks only go on before putting on shoes. We are not only a shoeless house, but a sockless one. Beat that MN Grin

Socks first if trousers are going over (Most the time). Socks last is only acceptably if you plan to tuck your trouser leg in (e.g. to go inside wellies.

Otherwise you need to role you trouser leg up to pull socks up, and then when you pull it back down the top elastic of the socks moves down a bit so socks end up baggy on your feet. Utter madness.

Wtf - what kind of advance-level, high-tech, complex socks some of you must have, that they require adjustment Grin.

Get dressed, put socks on last. No adjustment needed. With very skinnies, socks over the top.

Um... nope. This doesn't happen to me. Maybe your trousers are too tight and your socks are too big?
