Not convinced...
Will he be Prince Archie?!

OP posts:
lovinglifexo · 08/05/2019 17:09

not sure don’t think so?

kaytee87 · 08/05/2019 17:09

He won't be a prince at all. He's earl of Dumbarton

Mssngvwls · 08/05/2019 17:15

YABU

WitchyBollox · 08/05/2019 17:25

there is already another thread about this full of vileness, don't need another one.

MeredithGrey1 · 08/05/2019 17:38

Sounds like he won’t have any royal titles (similar to Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips), so no, he won’t be Prince Archie. Not that there’s anything wrong with Prince Archie anyway.

mrslupin · 08/05/2019 21:56

He won't be a prince yet unless the queen steps in. However, he will be a prince when Prince Charles is King as grandchildren of a reigning monarch are always Princes/ Princesses. (Or so the article I read earlier said)

pictish · 08/05/2019 21:57

You don’t need to be convinced. He’s not your kid. Don’t worry about it.

TrojanWhore · 08/05/2019 22:00

"there is already another thread about this"

Don't you mean half a dozen other threads - ncouding two others in AIBU

PortiaCastis · 08/05/2019 22:01

Brilliant name

EdtheBear · 08/05/2019 22:05

Mrslupin grandchildren of reigning monarchs aren't always Prince / Princess, Peter and Zara are Queens Grandchildren from her daughter Princess Anne.

GCAcademic · 08/05/2019 22:06

Fucking hell. Will these threads never end?

@MNHQ - can we have a “Slagging Off Meghan” board, please, so that these incessant threads can all stay in one place, and those of us who think that she can call her child whatever she likes and wear whatever damn colour dress she likes can hide them?

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 08/05/2019 22:10

He's not a Prince. I think they turned down "Earl of Dumbarton" as Mountbatten Windsor as a surname is used for untitled descendents who need a "normal" surname. Since they've gone with that I'm assuming an upgrade after Charles takes the throne is probably unlikely (but could happen).

AnastasiaaBeaverhousen · 08/05/2019 22:10

I personally don’t like nicknames being given as names. Give him the full name and then he has options. Not that my opinion matters! He won’t have a title I don’t think.

pictish · 08/05/2019 22:13

Ha ha I just typed out a post asking for a separate Meghan Markle topic but I deleted it. I agree. Mn is transfixed by the woman.

Peregrina · 08/05/2019 22:14

Even for a royal though, Archibald is a bit of a step too far. I can't really see it coming back ever.

NameChangeSameRage · 08/05/2019 22:33

EdtheBear I think it goes through the male line only- although of course they can decline it, as Prince Edward and Sophie did.

Peregrina · 08/05/2019 22:43

I think the Queen had to change the rules to make Charlotte and Louis a princess and prince - otherwise the title only went to the first grandson of the heir apparent. (I think that is what Charles is.)

TheGardenFairy · 08/05/2019 22:45

Not that my opinion matters

In a nutshell... Just get on with your normal life. The Royals (nor anyone else) cares what you think.

Topseyt · 09/05/2019 02:06

It's a nice name. I would have considered using Archie if I had had a boy (I had girls).

What are you not convinced about? He isn't your child.

Complainingagain · 09/05/2019 02:35

Such a mediocre name

specterlitt · 09/05/2019 02:53

NOT.YOUR.CHILD.

Why do you care? What do you need to be convinced about? Hmm

Bellasorellaa · 09/05/2019 02:54

It’s so weird how people obsess over other babies they will never meet

PyongyangKipperbang · 09/05/2019 03:04

I dont get the eye rolling at Harrison.

Traditionally a son's second name is their father's first name, so in this case it would be Archie Henry but he has never been known as Henry. I would imagine that they chose Harrison to acknowledge Harry's preferred name without actually using it because it is a nickname.

profumoaffair · 09/05/2019 06:49

Why do you care? What do you need to be convinced about?

As long as we continue to finance the insufferable and archaic institution of royalty, I think people are more than entitled to take a view on those that supposedly 'reign' own us

profumoaffair · 09/05/2019 06:51

I also find H & M CFs in the extreme with their 'pick and mix' style Instagram royalty
