@RubberTreePlant- was just about to say very literal use of "Harrison"!

glitterfarts · 08/05/2019 17:01

I LOVE that she is wearing a dress that highlights that her stomach hasn't miraculously shrunk in 2 days. I'd lose all respect if she'd had on suck-you-in knickers ands pretending to have a flat tummy.
Her breasts are probably much fuller than when she bought the dress - of course it won't fit perfectly.
They look radiant, happy and lovely.

RubberTreePlant · 08/05/2019 17:01

I'm quite impressed that they've broken away from the tradition having five or six christian names.

Lweji · 08/05/2019 17:02

The Queen looks very pleased.

To the extent of only really having one?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/05/2019 17:02

Not at all sure about the name, but that doesn't matter ... their baby, their choice

ScreamScreamIceCream · 08/05/2019 17:03

Nice American name for someone who isn't a Prince and won't be King.

Shame about the lastname as he then can't disappear.

Whatafustercluck · 08/05/2019 17:03

I did lol a bit when they said Archie is calm and 'a good baby'. I didn't know the colour of my ds's eyes for about 2 weeks after he was born because he slept so much. Then all hell broke loose! Grin

Coolcoolcoolcoolcool · 08/05/2019 17:03

Bet the Queen’s face is like a cat’s bum. not to be rude, but it kind of always is. My grandma (in her 90s) has the same problem.

Outofinspiration · 08/05/2019 17:04

Why the fuck a white dress?! Kate did it too with the light blue dress!

She looks lovely, as does the baby, but I did laugh at them talking about how he is a 'dream baby' etc. It's DAY THREE!!!

The name 'Archie Harrison' will give the Daily Mail something to froth over for weeks! I'm surprised at the name, it's very common round here (in all senses of the word to be honest), but I guess they like it.

Lweji · 08/05/2019 17:04

I hope he becomes known as Harrison.
I'd rather associate him with the namesake Ford than the Eastenders Archie.

Outofinspiration · 08/05/2019 17:05

Aw that is a lovely photo with Her Maj actually Smile

Switsy · 08/05/2019 17:07

I know about the Archie comic but I doubt there are many little Archies in America these days, although that may now change!

bluewavysea · 08/05/2019 17:07

Why no doctors signatures on the palace announcement?

Marcipex · 08/05/2019 17:08

Lovely baby, and I think Harrison is quite funny. I suppose they might be so out of touch they think Archie is unusual and retro.
I like MM and think a lot of people are jealous, or something even uglier.

mbosnz · 08/05/2019 17:09

If a mother's (or woman's) place is in the wrong, that must be to the power of 10 for this poor woman. Gosh I hope she is thoroughly contemptuous of remarks made about her by total strangers on social media - it would be awful to think that a woman might be hurt by the cruel and callous remarks some make otherwise. She may be rich and famous and have married into the royal family, but she's still a human being.

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls · 08/05/2019 17:10

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor according to DD

Lweji · 08/05/2019 17:14

Anyone else planning on scrolling for baby name threads where Archie has been mentioned? Wink Grin

The80sweregreat · 08/05/2019 17:15

The Queen can look happy sometimes, but she does come across as stern most of the time I think, or just thoughtful.
She is a real horse lover and they tend to be ' no nonsense' people!

nice picture though. I like Archie, there are a few around but its not mega common either. Archibald is much more old fashioned!
I bet the Sun will have a picture of Harrison Ford in their ' special baby pull out guide' somewhere.

bluewavysea · 08/05/2019 17:20

Can there be other reasons for dislike?

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 08/05/2019 17:21

The first pic I saw was definitely from a bad angle, having seen more. I think the baby will be Archie; "Harry & Harrison" is a bit too matchy, I reckon. Plus they would have said- wasn't Harry being "Harry not Henry" announced at his birth-name-appearance unveiling?

Also can't get fussed over it being at Windsor Castle. They were hardly going to go and stand outside Windsor Hospital or the Guildhall. It's basically pics in the living room. Royalty have also always manipulated their image. If Meghan chooses the palace backdrop to reinforce the message, she's doing no different to plenty of people before her. We're just more aware of it and are more cynical to it than before, and it's harder to control every aspect of a photo than it is to put messages into paintings as royals past have done.

Whoever mentioned Queenie scowling like Queen Mary, Queen Mary did make it her business to mould the Queen as a girl, so despite many years passing, the shadow of Queen Mary is in there deep.

I just had a quick look. It gets a really snotty response on MN, it seems. Lots of use of the Ch word.

I'm quite surprised. To me, it's a pre-war name.

Switsy · 08/05/2019 17:30

To me, it's a pre-war name

Has had a huge surge in popularity in the last decade along with all the other old man name like Reggie and Alfie.

Hammondisback · 08/05/2019 17:30

@PetraRabbit - Yes! Her ankles and legs have remained so lovely and slim throughout her pregnancy and now! I’m well jel, mine were like elephant feet until at least a week after I’d given birth Grin

derxa · 08/05/2019 17:31

To me, it's a pre-war name. Me too. Used to be very popular in Scotland
