To think Hermes need closing down

Think its honestly the worst parcel company in the UK! Had 2 parcels, 1 was suppose to be delivered to a neighbour, 1 through the letter box! They were both put in my bin and weren't there when I got back from a weekend away 🙄

Returned a parcel with Hermes 48 hour on the 26th and the company still haven't received it !! Whats a fuc*ing joke !! 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's all down to the loal courier, as pp say.

For example, I never knowingly buy anything that is delivered by Yodel, but then again my local Yodel guy is great.

DPD get a poor rap too, but they are 50:50.

Ditto Hermes.

I much prefer to collect in store where possible.

RogueV · 08/05/2019 08:28

Our Hermes courier is brilliant!

nomilknosugarplease · 08/05/2019 08:29

Agree it must depend on where you live as I love DPD and can’t believe people on here don’t! I get sent an hour time slot and can track the delivery man online to see how far away from me he is. I can usually work out about a 10 minute window when it’ll arrive.

Hermes is absolutely terrible here. Our local courier frequently marks things as delivered (I’m guessing to fulfill his daily target) and then doesn’t deliver them until he has time a day or two later. Which means I’m constantly contacting companies asking why my order is marked as delivered when it hasn’t been, only for it to arrive two days later...

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 08/05/2019 08:29

Our local my hermes driver is good. Yodel on the other hand...

VictoriaBun · 08/05/2019 08:31

I had a Hermes delivery that left a parcel in my bin on the day it was on the path waiting to be emptied

TheFeet · 08/05/2019 08:31

I have a great local Hermes driver. I also send hundreds of parcels with Hermes every year and very rarely have any problems - I can think of a couple off the top of my head but they always resolved them.

Dogparty · 08/05/2019 08:39

I absolutist despise Hermes! They’ve never managed to successfully deliver any of my parcels and a lot of the time I couldn’t reorder the item because it was then out of stock. I wish people would name the delivery company they use when you place an order. Anything from Hermes would immediately be cancelled. Terrible company!

Lovemusic33 · 08/05/2019 08:40

My Hermes courier is great, I rarely have a problem and use them a lot.

Yodel on the other hand....
They often enter my garden to leave parcels in random places and I have had parcels that stink of smoke where the driver smokes in his van.

RustyBear · 08/05/2019 08:42

I'm not sure who was delivering this parcel to me, but I don't think Amazon knew either...

We had an email notification for a parcel when we were on holiday which had a specified delivery date after we got back (paid for that day) but Hermes decided to deliver it anyway and leave it on the doorstep in full view. I was very tempted to say it wasn't there because I was furious that they were advertising that we were away.
We have a safe place that they know about but they chose not to use it.

Wheresthebeach · 08/05/2019 08:48

We have no problem with DPD, Hermes is impossible to communicate with.

mydogisthebest · 08/05/2019 08:50

My Hermes driver is great. She always chats.

The DPD driver is a young guy who looks about 12. The first time he was meant to deliver to me I stayed in as the parcel was for a job my DH was doing and he needed it urgently. Kept tracking him and he was meant to deliver in the morning. It changed to after noon but he never came that day at all.

I got on to DPD and they said he could not find our address. We live in quite a small village on the main road through to where he was coming from!

WontYouDance · 08/05/2019 08:51

Not a great experience here either.

Sent a parcel to my old work with my laptop and mobile phone in it. In a laptop bag with a wee padlock on it, wrapped in brown parcel paper and taped all over with parcel tape, then wrapped and taped again. Used parcel to go as a go between.

Never heard anything back and forgot to check, until I got a letter about a month later from the work asking me to send it back. Checked tracking, last said at the depot. So I contacted Hermes who told me it was so badly damaged it was destroyed.

I didn’t get extra insurance. Expensive lesson to learn as work then took almost 800 quid from my last paycheck to cover it.

Hermes don’t care. Said my contract was with parcel to go. They refunded my postage cost.

I KNOW it was stolen. Arseholes

GinDaddy · 08/05/2019 08:54

We expect “free delivery and returns” on items we buy online.

We expect them to “deliver” to our house when we are barely in during working hours.

And somehow we expect them to provide 5* service despite the conundrum of the above.

I don’t work for any courier company and have no sympathies for staff who throw parcels into bushes etc

However something is going to have to give when it comes to this business model and the customer expectations.

RedRiverShore · 08/05/2019 08:55

My Hermes courier is great, she always comes about the same time Mon-Sat and if I am not in uses a safe place which she asked me if it was ok before using it the first time. On Sundays we have a variety of couriers but they always seem OK.

It definitely depends on your local courier I think

FuzzyPuffling · 08/05/2019 08:55

My Hermes man is great. Really sensible about where to put parcels, very friendly and helpful. Far better than Parcelforce, for example!

TulipsTwoLips · 08/05/2019 08:57

Tracking once showed that my parcel had been put through my letterbox. Only it was a toaster 🤷🏼‍♀️.

PookieDo · 08/05/2019 08:57

I’ve been ok with most of these to be fair
Amazon is good in my area, yodel I got something big from them last night and DPD this weekend were exactly within the time they said they would be

Hermes I don’t like really I have had issues in the past I would rather not use them

RedRiverShore · 08/05/2019 08:57

I always check who delivers and if it is Hermes I am really pleased but not so much with Yodel, DPD is OK

shadyzadie123 · 08/05/2019 08:59

Depends on the local courier. Used to have a lovely lady who'd deliver in the evenings too. The current guy is horrible! We had a shop next door that parcels could be left at. Since that's closed, the only option is with other neighbours, as our front door opens onto the street and there's no side gate, so no safe space. I've been lectured by him twice now (when I've been home to receive the parcel!) that this is his 2nd/3rd time trying to deliver it and I 'have to' find somewhere else to get my parcels delivered to, and that I can't rely on delivery to my neighbours as even the nicest neighbours are going to get fed up with this Confused.

For the record I don't have parcels streaming in every day and my neighbours are lovely. I appreciate that there's a lot of pressure on couriers, but I'm a single parent working full time with no family nearby so my options are limited. Now, if I'm aware a company uses Hermes I use an alternative company, or cancel an order if it becomes apparent that they do.

SlothMama · 08/05/2019 09:04

Hermes aren't great however one of my family members works in management for Yodel. It is scary how wrong they get it, even with things they ship internally!

whyohwhyowhydididoit · 08/05/2019 09:05

Our Hermes driver is fantastic. She’s been delivering here for at least 4 years. We are on first name terms and she is an excellent source for any local news ( and we are in London, not a rural location. )

CigarsofthePharoahs · 08/05/2019 09:08

My only dealings with yodel was when I was supposed to have five rolls of organza delivered to decorate a church for a wedding.
Two days after it was supposed to arrive yodel turn up with a…
Phillips lady shaver. The company I ordered from only do decorations so they hadn't mucked it up, Hermes had just managed to relabel the wrong parcel and then refused to acknowledge their fuck up.
Amazon were about as useful as a chocolate teapot too.
In the end I phoned the company direct who got me what I needed early the following day. Brilliant.
Despite letting Amazon know that I had received my item (no thanks to them) I received another set of organza rolls three weeks later. After the wedding so no bloody use.
Hey ho. At least Hermes arrived with the correct item.

Piffle11 · 08/05/2019 09:09

My Hermes guy is amazing. He's been coming here for years now: he's friendly, polite, and even offered to help me move my new sofa into position when I mentioned I was struggling. If I'm ever out and he delivers a parcel he puts it in a good place and puts a note through the door telling me where it is. I guess it depends on the delivery person, doesn't it. The few times he's been on holiday and there's someone else, they've always been fine, too. I guess I'm in a good area for Hermes drivers!

IceRebel · 08/05/2019 09:12

My only dealings with yodel... Hermes had just managed to relabel the wrong parcel and then refused to acknowledge their fuck up.

Yodel and Hermes are two different companies. Confused

Also Hermes don't have any input over the labels on the package. That's all done by the seller / company.
