To wish my husband wasn’t quite so nice!

People knocked on our door asking for money to fix their bike.
DH said no but I’ll get my puncture repair kit.
They then ask him for food so I put together some non perishables. Breakfast cereal and soup etc.
Now he’s walking to Aldi with them to buy them groceries!
My big issue is he’s not taken his phone so he can’t contact me/help if he needs it.

I’m sure these people are lovely but it’s making me anxious!

Nice?

Sounds batshit.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 06/05/2019 16:30

He sounds amazing! What a wonderful and kind man. I know what you mean re worrying, but you must also be very proud of him!?

HarrysOwl · 06/05/2019 16:32

Someone knocked on the door asking for money and food - who? A family? A neighbour?

Whisky2014 · 06/05/2019 16:33

Sounds like a scam to me. You both seem gullible

TeaForDad · 06/05/2019 16:34

That whole situation is insane.
Hope they don't mug him on the way back

Hisnamesblaine · 06/05/2019 16:34

Are these people known to you

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 06/05/2019 16:34

I'd drive to Aldi to get him. This has scam written all over it, and it's insane.

‘My lovely but native t’fuck husband is at the police station after being robbed senseless in the fruit and veg aisle of Aldi. AIBU to think it serves him right for being such a wet lettuce to cheeky chancers?’

englishdictionary · 06/05/2019 16:35

Random someone or someone you know?

Holidayshopping · 06/05/2019 16:35

WTF? There’s nice and there’s scamming. I hope they don’t nick his wallet.

Sexnotgender · 06/05/2019 16:39

Oh they were total chancers.

He’s back and aliveSmile

Sexnotgender · 06/05/2019 16:41

Randoms not someone we know.

He didn’t take his phone in case they robbed himHmm

They could have been casing your house. I hope your husband didn’t give them too much information, as a phone isn’t worth as much as your other personal possession I’m sure. I’m very sorry if they were genuinely in need, but your husband was a bloody idiot to give them any time at all.

Whisky2014 · 06/05/2019 16:46

So stupid

specterlitt · 06/05/2019 16:46

ok.. what? Hmm

Sexnotgender · 06/05/2019 16:47

Unfortunately my husband is in the kind of profession where we are seen as approachable and should help.

OP posts:
Dishwashersaurous · 06/05/2019 16:48

Is he a vicar, or similar by any chance

Sexnotgender · 06/05/2019 16:49

Yip.

HarrysOwl · 06/05/2019 16:50

Oooooooh.

It makes sense now!

CurtainsOpen · 06/05/2019 16:51

Fuck me, thread needs a plumber.

Sexnotgender · 06/05/2019 16:52

Sorry didn’t realise it mattered his profession really.

OP posts:
Whisky2014 · 06/05/2019 16:52

Lol

DoneLikeAKipper · 06/05/2019 16:54

Being a vicar doesn’t mean you get to have all leave of your common senses. Absolutely foolish way to behave, he could have seriously opened himself and his family to danger out of some ridiculous sense of duty. I’d be furious, not on MN expecting some sort of praise for his saviour complex.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 06/05/2019 16:56

What kipper said.
Isn't there something in Corinthians about false brothers you could use to urge him to be a bit more careful in future.

Sexnotgender · 06/05/2019 16:57

I’m not expecting any praise! I’m saying I wish he hadn’t done it as I totally agree it was stupid.

His reasoning is he hoped if I was in trouble some day someone would help me.
