Shock mine is at 18 and even then I have to turn it off.

MrsBlondie · 05/05/2019 19:08

Yes its bad for the environment for starters. 21 iz highest we have in winter. 18 or 19 is surely enough in may.

BlueMerchant · 05/05/2019 19:09

20 at the moment.

LagunaBubbles · 05/05/2019 19:12

I'm in the West of Scotland and ours is always 19!

CheshireChat · 05/05/2019 19:13

We generally have it at 21 as it gets too stuffy otherwise.

riotlady · 05/05/2019 19:13

Yabu that’s roasting! Even in the depths of winter we don’t go past 21

SimonJT · 05/05/2019 19:13

Mines at 18, I’m warm enough and I’m only wearing boxers.

countrygirl99 · 05/05/2019 19:13

3what heating. I'm hot.

harrietkatie · 05/05/2019 19:14

I must BVU as I sometimes have mine at 28

bridgetreilly · 05/05/2019 19:14

That is ridiculous. Are you ill?

Otherwise, have you got proper socks on? Make a cup of tea. Do some star jumps. But no one should need their home heated at that level not to feel cold.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 05/05/2019 19:14

We have it at 16.5 and wear layers. Because the planet's fucked enough as it is.

wigglybeezer · 05/05/2019 19:15

Stick a little pic of David Attenborough looking sad above the thermostat to make you think twice about turning it up and wear proper slippers ( sheepskin ones in my house), I find if my feet are toasty I feel comfortable at lower temps.

bridgetreilly · 05/05/2019 19:16

28?!!!!

Are you sure the thermostat isn't broken?

WingBingo · 05/05/2019 19:16

There’s 3 things that will make a huge difference to your carbon footprint;

Don’t fly, stick to 1 or 2 DC and turn your heating down.

Mintandthyme · 05/05/2019 19:16

My daughter has just told me that the planet has 10 years left ☹️

Mintandthyme · 05/05/2019 19:17

Threads like this make me realise why ...

Chickenwing · 05/05/2019 19:17

I often shove mines up as high as it goes (30) i swear it never goes that hot in the house.

EmrysAtticus · 05/05/2019 19:18

One of the pieces of advice given if we want to avoid catastrophic climate change is to never put the thermostat above 19. I would recommend investing (preferably second hand) in lovely warm jumpers and woolly socks and a decent duvet :)

ThinkOfAWittyNameLater · 05/05/2019 19:19

Jeez. Turn it down and look into why you feel so cold, even when it's mild.

Grammar · 05/05/2019 19:22

There's a government initiative to put all our heating at a cap of 19.
FWIW, I hate the cold, am dreading this coming into force, but realise it may be a good thing for us all and we have to think about the next generations..
Am thinking no, no no, our democracy is going..China, for instance doesn't allow heating on til late Oct/Nov.. but equally, perhaps we need to think about our own selfishness in terms of the future?

PookieDo · 05/05/2019 19:24

I don’t usually have mine over 18/19
If I am cold I will put something on a dressing gown or blanket

Pipandmum · 05/05/2019 19:26

I can’t believe you still have heating on - unless you live very far up north. 18 ideal 20 absolute max.

IgnoranceIsStrength · 05/05/2019 19:27

Agree with others that is way too hot. Our lounge is currently 17 and I have no intention of turning the heating on
