Mrs Hinch....perfect prep :-(

I feel so angry with Tommee Tippee that they've "gifted" her a perfect prep machine. Completely undermines her wish if she wants to breast feed. Plus she's such an influencer how much will this reduce our national breast feeding rates? Pregnant women will go and buy one just because she has one and not give themselves a chance to breastfeed Angry

www.babymilkaction.org/ukrules-pt2a

The Code covers all breastmilk substitutes – that is any product that substitutes for breastmilk (including follow-on formula and milks for older babies) – feeding bottles and teats.

Passthecherrycoke · 05/05/2019 19:52

A perfect prep is neither a formula, bottle
Or teat though is it?

Tinyteatime · 05/05/2019 19:56

No, which is why I assume that someone said she was ‘on the edge of advertising rules’, she hasn’t broken the law. I said that from the start but I would agree that ff paraphernalia comes close. Which is why this sort of advertising is a grey area that many influencers wouldn’t touch.

Pppppppp1234 · 05/05/2019 19:57

I’ve seen adverts for the new night and day machine on TV 🙈🙈 so really don’t think she is breaking any rules at all.
There are tons of reviews of them on the internet (video) also not breaking any laws.
Eeeesh what has the world come too when this is what we are bitching about?!

Hands up whose going to formula feed.... ✋ because I want too... not because Mrs H has been gifted a prep machine!

Passthecherrycoke · 05/05/2019 19:59

The problem is, you can be on the edge of the advertising rules. Most companies are 🤣 it makes not a blind bit of difference to anybody.

Amanduh · 05/05/2019 20:00

Meh, it’s the best thing ever so anyone influenced by it is getting a good product 😂😂😂

Blossom28 · 05/05/2019 20:01

@chocolatebuttonsandcheese breastfeeding is literally the ONLY thing a man can’t do for his child, why would any normal man feel pushed out by a mother feeding her baby 😐

millymae · 05/05/2019 20:12

I agree with you Mrs jay but I do think Mrs Hinch’s overuse of melts, candles and scented sprays is creating an unhealthy atmosphere in her home which could cause far more problems for the baby in the long term than bottle feeding ever will.
Influencers like her are lucky in that they are gifted things that mere mortals like us have to buy. Whether she chooses to breast or bottle feed the simple fact that she has one of these machines sitting on her pristine worktops will be enough to boost sales.
At one time, having breast fed all my children for longer than the recommended time and never having had a bottle in the house I would have considered myself a fully paid up member of the breast is best brigade. However my views have changed over time, yes breast is still best but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the alternative. Like very many others I was a bottle fed baby and came to no harm at all. A family member recently had no choice but to bottle feed her little one. She was, and is one of the most settled babies I have ever come across and the machine Mrs Hinch has been gifted was an absolute godsend when her mum was preparing bottles. I know there has been some debate about how safe these machines are, but am sure that if instructions are followed to the letter and the filter is changed as recommended baby will come to no harm.

RainbowWaffles · 05/05/2019 20:13

Would anyone make a decision on how to feed their child based on what some woman on Instagram who cleans obsessively does? Is this a realistic concern?

I had never heard of her until I read about her on here. I can see why she finds the time to post so many repetitive videos of no real discernible value (some cleaning tips, fine, but what is with this never ending filming of products?) but who on earth are all these people watching them every day? There are just so many.

Let’s not turn this into another bf and ff bunfight.

SherlockSays · 05/05/2019 20:42

Also, let's be fair, the PP is the best thing ever invented for FF parents. I couldn't live without mine - I even have one at the caravan.

pikapikachu · 05/05/2019 21:09

This is an extremely nasty post that I hope Mrs Hinch doesn't see.

She's having an extremely stressful time and you attack her for ff. You should be ashamed of yourself. Do you attack people who use the 2nd or 3rd safest car seat on the market? Formula isn't poison. It's like eating standard supermarket food rather than organic local food. There can be babies who get sick because of incorrect preparation but you make it sound like she's going to feed her baby Pepsi Max or something.

It's not Mrs Hinch's fault if someone buys a machine because she sells it well. It's no different to reading Amazon reviews before making a purchase. I'm not a follower of hers but well done to her for monetizing something that people submit to Amazon for free every day.

I hope that she doesn't come across this nasty thread. She's a grown woman whose decisions aren't answerable to you. She's fighting health issues and doesn't need a random keyboard warrior making her feel worse.

As for the posts wishing for 100% breastfeeding rates- what a joke. What about focusing on important health issues like smoking, immunizations and drugs rather than formula feeding.

nespressowoo · 05/05/2019 21:13

I worry about all the chemicals she uses around the baby, all of the zoflora spray and wax melts. That won't be good for a baby to be around.

I don't mind her but I don't agree with her using her platform to promote Tommee Tippee, even if it was gifted.

nespressowoo · 05/05/2019 21:15

Oh and @chocolatebuttonsandcheese what fucking nonsense. Go spout your bullshit elsewhere.

BlitheringIdiots · 05/05/2019 21:21

Why do people get so self involved about whether other women intend to breastfeed or not

It's not law that one has to breastfeed.

It's personal choice and I wish people would stop bleating on about breast feeding rates.

BlitheringIdiots · 05/05/2019 21:25

Although of course there is no need for this perfect prep crap anyway. Just sterilise the bottles, fill with hot boiled water and leave to cool
And then add powder when required. And use within 24 hours or throw the water away. No milk wasted. That was the advice in 2006 and my DS was never poorly

GunpowderGelatine · 05/05/2019 21:26

I just which people would realise all these IG stars don't give a toss about their fans and are in it 100% for the money. I would judge someone who would choose to FF purely because Mrs Hinch bought a perfect prep

LimeKiwi · 05/05/2019 21:31

Just like I'd judge anyone on two threads when they clearly dislike a person just to call people airheads and generally be unpleasant just for the hell of it

Serendipitybojangle · 05/05/2019 21:32

Influencers love these types of threads, negative or positive. It's all free publicity and Mrs Hinch is a canny enough saleswoman to know that.

pikapikachu · 05/05/2019 21:33

It's not lack of education that stops women breastfeeding. I'd need someone sitting with me (including middle of night) watching me bf and seeing if baby and I were doing the right thing. Or I'd need someone to do housework/entertain the other kids so I could bf. I have no support - no husband, mother or money to buy in help. Bf would affect family life and my mental health. Plus fomula is an excellent alternative.

Amanduh · 05/05/2019 21:35

Oh and you shouldn’t add powder to cold water by the way blithering 🙄

Dandelion1993 · 05/05/2019 21:36

I never bothered breastfeeding my first. I just didn't want to.

Showing the machine won't cause breastfeeding mums to suddenly stop.

You're being a bit of a drama queen about it.

Curlypop · 05/05/2019 21:36

Who gives a shot how she feeds her baby. Her baby. Her body. Her choice.

LimeKiwi · 05/05/2019 21:37

True, serendipity, I'd never heard of her before one of these threads a while back and like following her now!
All the "Ermigerrrd planet ruiner Zoflora plant wimmin back to caves dragger!" just gets her more followers lol seeing as they're engaging and hate watching lol

DulcieRay · 05/05/2019 21:39

This thread is such perfect advertising for both Mrs Hinch and the perfect prep. I don't understand why people don't understand that

MondeoFan · 05/05/2019 21:46

I'm with you Op. I don't think she should be advertising a PP machine.
If she can't breastfeed that's fine but don't advertise a PP to your insta audience.
