To ask how much rent you pay?

I was reading this Mumsnet thread about how much mumsnetters were paying each month on rent (2014) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2049466-To-wonder-just-how-much-rent-you-people-are-paying?pg=1&order=

And I was quite shocked at how high rent rates were back in 2014. Now I am wondering how bad it is five years later?

I rent a 3 bed semi detached house in Warwickshire for £440 a month, in a good area with good schools. How about you?

My partner and I once paid around £1000 a month (£950 maybe? I forget exactly. All inclusive, at least) for the dubious "privilege" of being lodgers in a house in Zone 2 London with 2 other couples and a small family. So I've not always managed cheap rents.

£1425 per month for a 3 bed semi in an okay but not posh part of Oxford (no drive or garage..)

Boomsk · 04/05/2019 21:27

A better question would be the percentage of your income you pay on rent. Mine is about 30% of salary - London.

WildFlower2019 · 04/05/2019 21:31

£1400 for a one bed flat in London (quite nice part, inner zone 2), and we get it below the market rate as we are renting off family friends.

The last time we rented in 2001 a 2 bed flat in north west London was £760 per month.

Sorry I realise that's of no use to this thread now!

I wish me and partner could get social housing nearly impossible in Essex even with a 10 month old !

We pay £800 pcm for a large 2 bedroom flat, can easily fit 2 cots in the second bedroom.
£15 a month council tax ( reduction) I don't work due to being a full time university student and looking after a 10 month old. Thankfully my partner earns a very good weekly wage so we're more fortunate than most our age.

BigFatGoalie · 05/05/2019 09:51

£1650 for a three bed semi in Surrey.
That’s before £300 council tax and then bills.
Honestly, it’s criminal.

Dumplingfan · 05/05/2019 11:39

2 bed Norwich £675

Eshaar · 14/11/2020 21:09

Any idea on how much rent on Maidenhead? Recently rented a 3 bed terraced house for 1400+bills in Maidenhead. Not sure what we are paying is the right amount.

ArranBound · 14/11/2020 21:17

We pay £895 for a big, 3 bed, 1800s farmhouse in a rural part of Lanarkshire, Scotland. After reading this thread I now think that's rather a lot! We've just moved from a big, 3 bed bungalow, also on a farm, which was £800, but that had much more outside space and a garage.

MuseumOfYou · 14/11/2020 21:33

£1500 pcm for a four bedroomed, rural period property in Dorset. With about 5 acres of boggy fields.
