Ah, it’s almost like asking me to choose between my children.
“Friends” and “Frasier” were both part of the NBC “Must-See TV” line-up on Thursday nights in the mid-‘90s. I love them both. They were two very different shows and I find it difficult to compare them, honestly, like apples to oranges.
Friends: “The One Where Everyone’s Late” and “The One When Phoebe and Ross Find Out.” My favorite characters had to be sarcastic Chandler and OCD Monica. I thought Christina Applegate as Rachel’s bitchy sister Amy was the best guest star.
Frasier: The episode where Frasier invites his new station manager over for dinner, hoping to snag a man for Daphne, not realizing the man is gay. Meanwhile, the station manager thinks he’s on a date with Frasier; and “The Innkeepers” episode, when Frasier and Niles buy a restaurant and everything goes wrong.
Niles was my favorite character.
I always thought these episodes are all so perfectly written; the comedic timing is perfect; I laugh until I cry. Two very different and venerable TV shows.
OP, I agree that Niles and Daphne are better than Ross and Rachel. Never got into the whole Ross and Rachel storyline.
