To sneak a McDonald's into the cinema

Would it be wrong to sneak a big mac and fries into the cinema? I usually just take a bag of sweets and bottle of water. I refuse to pay the cinema prices for food. The film I want to see tomorrow is 3 hours long, plus 30 minutes or so of adverts. It starts at 11.30am. Do you take your own food into the cinema?

It's not people need to eat, more they want to.

Eating something you find yummy is enjoyable. So sitting eating something yummy, whilst watching a movie is a pleasurable experience. More pleasurable that just watching the movie.

I'm not sure how it's difficult to understand. It's like those who say why do you need to drink on a flight. It's like they can't understand the difference between need and want, and why sometimes things like eating and drinking is done for pleasure and not simply need/survival/hunger/thirst.

It's kinda odd. It would be a very sad life if we only did what we needed to, never because we simply wanted to. I'm assuming these people on,h ever eat because they are hungry, not just because they fancy something, and only ever drink if they are thirsty, and sit with nothing in front of them when socialising, until thirst strikes.

YABU, you have to get the nachos , they’re amazing !

and you wonder why we have such an obesity crisis in this country GrinGrinGrin

It's a great shame if you can't understand the pleasure of a lovely diner without the need to be distracted by a movie, and that you can't just watch a movie without feeling the need to stuff yourself.
It's not the same as drinking on a flight at all, you don't do anything on a plane, you are just on there to go from A to B. Anything to pass the time is a bonus.

Eating is not a joyless, odourless, furtive experience its a usually enjoyable
Only on mn is eating seen as an act of gluttony and lack of self control
Eating at cinemas is not a heinous act

BrightYellowDaffodil · 04/05/2019 09:43

When I’m the boss of the world nobody is thanking anything to eat into the cinema. All that rustling and chewing drives me round the bend.

Absolutely this. The cinemas’ issue with people staying at home to watch a film rather than going to the cinema is, for me, less about the price and more about the fact that I’ll inevitably have someone sitting next to me who chews popcorn with their mouth open.

Or, like the time a friend and I went to see a live screening of a Shakespeare play, sat next to a family who ate crisps and apples through the first half, then really did bring in a McDonalds for the second. I can hardly remember the play, I was so incandescent with rage.

Food for most people is an enjoyable, social act. The sharing of it ,the smells, the physiological and psychological feeling of satisfaction. cinema and food...It’s a normal and contextually appropriate act.Look at the food on sale and display. Eating at cinema is only an aberration on mn.

Eating something you find yummy is enjoyable. So sitting eating something yummy, whilst watching a movie is a pleasurable experience. More pleasurable that just watching the movie yes food is pleasurable and it adds to the experience and enjoyment of cinema

and you wonder why we have such an obesity crisis in this country
NO. not all people who eat whilst watching a movie will be obese. It’s not a straight cause and effect

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/05/2019 09:48

I prefer the smell of macdonalds food to the God awful stench of hotdogs and tortillas co weed in cheeses with jalapenos ,blerk!

I don't think there should be any food in cinemas,it's grim. Few sweeties fine, hot food,no.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/05/2019 09:49

** covered not co weedGrin

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 04/05/2019 09:51

chews popcorn with their mouth open
Yes food in mouth, mastication thats the usual way to eat

What are you suggesting?quietly suck the popcorn

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 09:51

LipstickHandbagCoffee Couldn’t have said it better myself. Iv seen people say it’s entitled & causes obesity to have a snack at the cinema which usually sells snacks and hot food. But never a smelly McDonald’s

PamelaX · 04/05/2019 09:53

time and a place
Only on MN must people eat every hour of the day

no one has ever told you to close your mouth whilst chewing when you were a child? Well, I am telling you now, you are not a cow, close your mouth, it's unpleasant and rude Grin

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 09:56

This is the funniest thread Iv ever read on here 😭

Persimmonn · 04/05/2019 09:56

I’ve seen families with picnic cooler bags and Tesco bags full of snacks and cups and plates at the cinema. No lies. I waited for them to be stopped but no; in they went. McDonald’s won’t be stinkier than the nachos anyway, as I assume it’ll be cold by the time you get in.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 09:58

Lunch time Pamela. At lunch time, she wanted to know if it was alright to take a McDonald’s into a 3 hour film assuming she won’t have eaten since breakfast.

Vulpine · 04/05/2019 09:58

I have no problem with bringing own food to cinema. I have no problem with McDonalds. But not both together. It's so smelly. Your food choices shouldnt negatively impact those around you. You may as well sit there and fart.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 09:59

There’s probably a million farts, burps and probably a couple of smelly people in the cinema air anyways 😂😂😂

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2019 10:01

You can chew food without having your mouth wide open surely? Confused

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 04/05/2019 10:07

Pamela whom are you addressing?or is it just a random comment

Lalliella · 04/05/2019 10:08

If you did this sat next to me I would vomit on you. I hate the smell of McDonalds. Ditto for popcorn and nachos 🤢🤮Basically I hate people! Well ones that impact / impose on others anyway. I like to go to the cinema weeks after everyone else when it’s nearly empty.

Vulpine · 04/05/2019 10:09

Who the feck farts in the cinema

MumOfOne92 · 04/05/2019 10:11

I like taking Tesco meal deals or something if it's long film over lunch time.

grumiosmum · 04/05/2019 10:12

I don't see why you can't just eat before you go in to watch the film?

And McDonalds is disgusting and unhealthy anyway.

I am addressing the person I actually quoted in my post, isn't that clear enough?

Kokeshi123 · 04/05/2019 10:13

MCD is very greasy smelling, please don't do this.

Have a sandwich just before going in.
