To sneak a McDonald's into the cinema

Would it be wrong to sneak a big mac and fries into the cinema? I usually just take a bag of sweets and bottle of water. I refuse to pay the cinema prices for food. The film I want to see tomorrow is 3 hours long, plus 30 minutes or so of adverts. It starts at 11.30am. Do you take your own food into the cinema?

Ugh, no - the yukky smell is just not fair to everyone else.

CheeseFace · 03/05/2019 20:05

YABmassivelyU: stinking rustling food is so antisocial in the confined space of the cinema. Endgame (I assume) will be packed too so you will be sat beside someone spoiling their enjoyment of the film. I'm a greedpig, but even so don't understand the need people have to eat in the cinema.

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 03/05/2019 20:05

There's a no hot food rule at my cinema too.

DerbyRacer · 03/05/2019 20:05

I saw Endgame at a cinema that is next to a burger king. So went to burger king first 11am then cinema. It worked out well

KneelJustKneel · 03/05/2019 20:05

I don't think its really sneaking as your neighbours will see and smell it.

Id eat it first and take snacks.

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2019 20:06

Yuk. I wouldn't want to be sitting next to someone in the cinema chomping and slurping their way through a smelly McDonalds. Sad

That said I don't go to the cinema much anyway due to anti social people.

ALemonyPea · 03/05/2019 20:06

I would, it's not against the rules to take our own food.

reytmardy · 03/05/2019 20:06

It's horrible when someone is eating smelly food in the cinema. Really wish it wasn't allowed . If you go to a busy screening it always stinks of hotdogs etc 😫

Lockheart · 03/05/2019 20:06

YWBU. If you can't go three hours without eating then please don't take anything which smells.

I like MacDonalds but it's not suitable for the cinema.

WindsweptEgret · 03/05/2019 20:08

Our cinema sells chicken nuggets, chips, hot dogs so can’t see the problem. Is it actually intended for people to eat during the film or are there tables and chairs so people can eat before or after? I would think the vast majority of people could go three and a half hours between meals!

GreytExpectations · 03/05/2019 20:08

McDs would stink so itd be quite rude to make other people suffer through that. For that YABU

SingingSands · 03/05/2019 20:09

My brother and his mate took a cooked chicken and a crusty baguette into the cinema once.

I still laugh when I think of it.

(They were the only two there at the time)

I usually take mini Prosecco/can of G+T and my own bag of Butterkiss popcorn.

I don't think there's any "law" about not bringing your own snacks, is there?

Iggly · 03/05/2019 20:09

Is this the avengers film?

Eat before. Bring snacks then eat after

I watched it over lunch. Survived!

Orchidflower1 · 03/05/2019 20:10

Burger first and take sweets ( without wrappers). Burgers stink.

I love McDonald’s but not in the cinema. If I’d paid for my ticket to watch ( I assume endgame) I’d be asking for you to be removed if you plonked up next to me and rustled wrappers and stank the place out.

ForalltheSaints · 03/05/2019 20:11

Wrong given the smell.
Wrong given the impact on your health.

UnicornDust9 · 03/05/2019 20:13

Op ignore everyone.

Iv took McDonald’s in to a cinema more then once and Iv know others who have done it to.

No ones ever said anything.

YemenRoadYemen · 03/05/2019 20:13

Classy. Real classy.

Oysterbabe · 03/05/2019 20:14

It will be luke warm and gross by the time you've bought it, got to the cinema, bought tickets and sat down. Just eat it before.

JessieMcJessie · 03/05/2019 20:15

Why not just take a chicken sandwich or something? McDs will be lukewarm by the time you get in anyway, will be grim.

BigChocFrenzy · 03/05/2019 20:16

Eat a meal before and eat a meal afterwards

Just take a bottle of water in with you
You don't even need snacks for 3.5 hours between meals

englishdictionary · 03/05/2019 20:16

Op ignore everyone.

Indeed. Because your word is gospel and everyone should be ignored!

Iv took McDonald’s in to a cinema more then once and Iv know others who have done it to.

Oh, that makes it ok then!

No ones ever said anything.

That doesn't mean a thing.

Being socially inept isn't something to be proud of.

OP, please don't. It is unnecessary and for all the reasons people have posted above, it's not the done thing.

Nah, it's a bit stinky

Aridane · 03/05/2019 20:18

At my local college cinema, they search your bags - not for security but for contraband food!!

theWarOnPeace · 03/05/2019 20:19

Unicorn “nobody said anything”, they just inwardly raged at how obnoxious and inconsiderate other people can be, I’m sure.
